Quote only says "master film for Flashback 2012 doesn't exist" because the whole thing only exists on video, so there is no "master film for Flashback 2012" and never was. But the animation parts still had to be shot on film first before being telecined to video for editing with the other footage. That still has to be out there unless something happened to it, which is what I want to know. As I said in my post on the first page, this is the same exact problem as Star Trek TNG. Shot on film but originally edited on video so it's been looking like crap for years. Now for the BDs they're going back to rescan the film and reedit everything again. Japan should be able to do the same with Flashback 2012.

Expected but still disappointing they're not remastering it properly. Anyone know if they still have the film for the animated parts? Can this actually be redone eventually when they finally feel like putting the effort in? Or is it genuinely doomed to stay SD due to reasons other than time/money/effort?

I wonder if Flashback 2012 will be actually HD or upscaled. That was edited on video and has a ton of analog effects. They'd have to remaster it like TNG is getting now. Can Japan afford/bother with that?

So when exactly is this reprint starting? Seems like a good time to start getting it for those that missed the original run.

I just hope the releases are spaced far enough apart to allow for saving in between. Escaflowne and Gunbuster BD Boxes in February, SDF in May, hopefully a summer full of employment and paycheques after that before the super duper DYRL BD Box to supplement the delicious DVD box from 2007. That was the first thing I ever ordered from amazon japan and my god were those two little books worth it. What could they possibly include in the BD release?
-
I'm pretty sure they'll spread out the releases. We probably won't get anything more than this and DYRL in 2012. Wouldn't be any fun if they gave us everything we wanted all at once.

Those are pretty standard for Japan. I just hope they don't filter the hell out of the video for this release. The HD Remaster on DVD was very nice and unmolested, but sadly SD. This will hopefully be the final definitive release.

Didn't notice that you could do This Topic in the box. I just went straight for advanced search from forum front page Well I'm looking for what they seem to call the SMS Pilot Suit.Or at least Luca's chracter profile calls it that and has a sketch or two. I was hoping there'd be more. Seems issue #43 is what I should be trying to hunt down since that apperently covers space suits for all the eras. Maybe issues #19 and #9 since those have Ozma and Michael's profiles. Alto's didn't have any pilot suit pics. Thanks!

I'm a bit late to the party but is there a searchable index of the Chronicle somewhere? I'm looking for some reference for the Frontier G-suit, the stuff that hides under the EX-Gear. I know there's a 38 page thread before this one but I can't figure out how to search individual topics. Any help would be appreciated.

Nice proper scan of the Gerwalk from the bowels of the internet

Hmm, I said I wouldn't touch it for a long time but as I was putting everything back in the box I noticed that this kit actually snaps together to a certain extent. This is entirely snapped together, not a drop of cement, not even tape. This thing is awesome

Got mine today from AmiAmi. It's so huge and awesome, but all the tiny detail scares me a little since I'm still new at this. Only started bulding by first 1/72 Hasegawa VF-1 a month or so back. 1/48 wings are looking great. Tons of detail, even buttons in the cockpit. VF-1S visor is included on the clear tree but the manual puts it as unused for this kit. And another comparison with the 1/72 VF-1 Absolutely love Tenjin Hidetaka's boxart, scanned it as soon as I opened the box Quick and plain wallpaper-izing I probably won't get to building this for another half year or so. Bunch of other kits in the way for now including my first VF-1. All I'm used to is snappy Gundam stuff but I wanted to do the Hasegawa kit properly so I've been lurking here for a few weeks digging through WIPs. Wooooo first post
