It seems to me they sell this with the expectation that people will buy complete sets.

My first impression of Shaolin Soccer is that they put in the ugliest actors, the ugliest clothes, and the most disgusting mannerism that they can get away with. Almost couldn't bear to watch all the way.

How heavy can it be? From the HLJ shipping info page, for a 1 kg package to US, it's 1080 yen by SAL and 2400 yen by EMS. OTOH, I just got hit for a 3600 yen shipping charge for two cases of CMS figures to Singapore. By SAL some more! That was more than what I expected.

Does a 1/60 Millia mean she's more or less the same height as the CMS character figures?

As long as there are new toys/figures are in the pipeline, your statement will hold. It was true when the 1/60 is released. It was true when the 1/48 was released. It was true when VF-1 accessories, figures and non-VF-1s were released. It's when no new projects are announced, products are cancelled or pulled off shelf that we know the golden age is over.

Mine too. She looks like she's wearing a cheongsam, with the slit going all the way up. Her uniform is half-sprayed with light green; I can't figure out what effect is it supposed to be. My Roy Fokker's head does not join up properly too. Looks like he is beheaded.. very ghastly. My cockpit cover is heavily scratched.. There's no head in the helmet too! Properly intentional, but quite creepy if you look into it. For me, I like the Minmay diorama best. Cheongsam = a long dress with a high collar and slit skirt, traditionally worn by Chinese women.

For Macross Figure Collection #1, it was mentioned that the figures are regularly packed. That is, you get the full ten distinct figures in a box of ten, unless you happen to get the mystery figure. Does the packing order still hold for #2?

That's my point exactly. That's one of the reasons I kept buying the 1/60. Keep the faith! I disagree. If it doesn't sell, all we can safely say is there is no market for 1/100 VF-0S.

I ordered the Macross Figure Collection part 1 and 2. Part 1 was due for April re-stock and part 2 was due for release in April. I forgot whether I chose to ship the items asap or wait-n-combine. April came and went, so I went in to check my order status and there were three options in the order screen (ship asap, combine, and a third one). What I find strange is that after I selected one of the options, I was not shown the three options again! This is why I wonder if my order was completed the first time round. Anyway, I think late March was rather late to order these figures from HLJ.. just trying my luck. Seems like completed part 2 sets aren't very expensive (unlike part 1), so maybe next time I'll just wait for completed sets. One thing on SAL: from what I see, it sucks for US buyers, but I'm in Singapore and SAL from HK and Japan takes 3 to 5 days to arrive!

I got the confirmation email after I ordered. It's when I check my current orders using the system that it gave me three options to choose. I didn't think much about it until now. I don't know if my order wasn't processed, or because the item is too hot -- I ordered the Macross Figure Collection #2.

After I order some stuff, I was asked to choose between shipping asap, wait for all to be available, and a third option which I forgot. My question is, if I didn't choose anything, is my order completed? I left my orders like that for two months.

The HK version has both English and Chinese subs for dialogue scenes. IMO, the English sub is pretty good. I was initially disappointed the R1 didn't include LLA, but having watched it once, I doubt I will watch it again. I find the clear hair versions quite meaningless. Some of the females look good when backlited, but some look eerie because you think you can see their skull! But then, there aren't many gimmicks that can be applied to get a second set (double profit!) so effortlessly.

Could they be selling the SDF-1 part by part, starting with the launch arms?

To me, the biggest difference is the emphasis placed on Minmay. In the tv series, you will hate her. In DYRL, she got more screen time, shows more emotion towards Hikaru and you really feel she got the short end of the bargain. Ah, unrequited first loves. One never forget them.

She doesn't really look like Misa, but if you really want her, you should still be able to find it. I got it from toy-wave even though he didn't put it up on his website. I paid much more though -- 3x the Minmay school uniform figure. There are very few figures of Misa. I hope the Misa in the second set of CM figures will look like her. Here's a recent shot I took. This should look better than the one I posted a few months ago.

This result should be pretty skewed. Most people who own less than 4 VFs may not have responded. I own 4 VFs (in 2 scales) and almost couldn't bother to respond. People who own more than that, on the other hand, will be inclined to respond.

I think it is not a given that people will buy less just because there are multiple heads. They still want all the VFs at the same time, don't they? Besides, the main VFs (VF-1A, VF-1J and VF-1S) have different colors, that's not easy to change.

Oh no, it doesn't just do that. With a little imagination, you can re-enact sequences from the show, have adventures where your toy does bad things to other toys. Having the object in hand makes it so much easier to imagine. "Watch me transform in 30 seconds! This will decide whether we win or lose the battle today!" Okay, so I have a problem with reality.

I had no accomplishments when I was 22.. nor do I today. However, this just re-enforce what I always believe: you just need to do one thing right for people to remember you forever. I'm still looking for that something.

With the clamp, the plane doesn't look like it's flying. I would prefer to use thin threads and hang the VF off the ceiling or something.

My thoughts are similar: I hope my collection won't be displayed in this way! Still, it is a very impressive collection.
