Which we will never know, and Kawamori probably doesn't have any idea either so Gubaba's 'pick your continuity' seems just fine. I'm leaning towards it being his excuse to take liberties with future works and movie versions without worrying too much about the small details from the past than anything significant. I doubt he really thinks along the lines of "Macross history really has Aliens invade earth and music saves the day, but it was Michael Jackson singing thriller who beat the Zentradi but for entertainment sake the people making the 'films about that event' will make it a cute little girl." It's just a good excuse from a guy who doesn't want to answer for things the fans should be ignoring in light of the larger themes of the series.

I don't know what is more irritating, the Ranka hate or the Sheryl love affair going on. (I actually like Ranka and Sheryl about the same with Sheryl being in the lead by a bit. I don't really see why it's like that. I do love and appreciate Basara for what he is (A far deeper and symbolic character than haters want to admit) and not what the majority thinks of him though, so I guess I don't see eye to eye with the crowd in general. Thank god this isn't Animesuki though, I would have been lynched as I finished typing that by the Sheryl fans. I would need Basara riding and singing on a space whale to save me from their clutches.

I'd imagine... though it really could be anytime, seeing as how Basara is still moving. That's interesting though. It really was a well written scene demonstrating the power of Basara's song. It also explains why Yasuboru is such a devoted and skilled artist.

This was pretty good. I'd like to see a BasaraxSheryl duet in the movie too. Though I'll say May'n's voice isn't suited to Dynamite Explosion and similar songs from what I've heard and Fukuyama's voice carried more presence when they sang the same lines. Though the very idea of Basara and Sheryl on stage together is pretty damn awesome. I think Diamond Crevasse would be a good song if they got together.

I wouldn't mind it. He wasn't entirely lacking in personality, but he could use some much needed screen time to flesh his character out. I'd rather know a little more about his past and Galaxy than get a rehash of Frontier with more indecisive Hime scenes personally.

Wouldn't it be awesome if they centered the movie on Brera? I'd like to know if he was doing anything for the first like, 15 episodes of the series other than sitting around and stalking Ranka.

I don't think it was shown on screen. By the time Brera began to watch Ranka as her guard wasn't Sheryl in the hospital? And Ranka is as awesome as Sheryl, I can totally see Alto choosing her (I actually always thought he would). I don't really think Alto deserves either of them though. The Ozma harem makes more sense to me.
