As far as models go, the VF-1 kits are the best I've ever worked with. The parts fit together great, and the detail is amazing. After an enitre youth of building crummy kits from the likes of Revel/Monogram and Ertl, the quality of the Hasegawa VF kits was totaly unexpected.

I think ________ will make an apperance in the..
Mule replied to UN Spacy's topic in Movies and TV Series
I agree 100%. Not only does the 1/48 have a Mac Zero pilot, but it also has markings for the Asuka. Plus, Hasegawa is supposed to be making one soon (check the models forum). I really think this baby is cannon and not some alternate paint scheme dreamed up at Yamato. And as far as the VF-1's specs in the Compendium... They seemed leave out a few weapons on the SV-51. Maybe the VF-1 has a few "undocumented features" that we haven't seen yet. -
This is very interesting. My understanding is that Hasegawa let thier Macross DYRL VF-1 fighter mode license expire. If that is the case, it might mean they are selling this one under their Mac Zero license. Just more fodder for the conspiracy nuts like me who think the Low-Vis VF-1 will be in Mac Zero

Never mind. I just had to regiser

Okay, excessively stupid question here: How or where can I view the contest entries and winners? I'm sure I'm missing something really obvious, but after doing some poking around on the HobbyFanatic site, I couldn't find links to the pictures.

Inertia is a fact of this reality no matter where you are. It has to do with movement not gravity. Inertia is the tendancy of an object to continue at its current velocity until acted upon by an outside force. It is possible that the cockpits have an overtechnology inertial dampening system in them. Placing gravity modulators in the seat could counteract the extreem forces of dogfighting and transforming. I couldn't find anything in the compendium about it, but I didn't look that hard.

I voted for the VF-14, but what I mean is any of the more obscure VF's. I think it would be cool to see a story of a small special forces group using VF's that aren't of the main stream. I don't know if the VF-14 fits the bill, but it sounds like a pretty versitile plane. In all reality, I'd bet that Kawamori would make a new plane all together.

Definately the DYRL control scheme. You never have to look at the controls since your hands are always on them. It's like messing with your car stereo. Studies have shown that is a huge cause of accidents if not the greatest cause. Take your eyes off the action even for just a second, and you lose situational awarenes. It also looks a lot more comfortable. That is the stick layout that F-16's use today.

Maybe Hasegawa employees keep secrets better than the employees at Yamato Although, the 1/60 GBP was quite a suprise...

There are more possibile variants for the VF-11 than for the YF-19 / VF-19A model that was already made. There is the VF-11B from M+ and the VF-11C from M7. They might also choose to sell kits with FAST pack sets separately like they did with the VF-1's. The packs in M+ and M7 were different and there was a radar pack set similar to the Elint VF-1 packs. The marketing possibillities are there.
-
I think I remember somebody saying Hasegawa got a licence to make M7 models. They must have something since they made a VF-22. They also obviously have a licence for M+ models. Both shows have VF-11's in them so I think there is a chance. The two licences would give them the opportunity to make two different variants (B and C) which will sucker the completists into buying basically the same kit twice. More than twice if they do the FAST packs in a different set. I'm really hoping they do it. That and a VF-4

I'm 29. My first exposure to Macross stuff was buying Jetfire with my own allowance money for $23. I still have it today with all of the armor and no yellowing
-
I might just have to break down and give this stuff a shot.
-
I'm confused. I thought the FAST packs were the conformal fuel tanks on the legs. Is there something we haven't seen yet? On all of the other VFs, the FAST packs only work in space (or at least a vacuum), and the VF-0 can't do that.
-
Looks like they really inflated the size of the shoulders to make the 1/60 work with the armor. Wonder if the thing will be able to transform. The Hasegawa VF-0 looks sweet, but I'm really waiting for the SV-51.
-
The YF-23 was just a demonstrator too.
-
That is one of the Northrup-Grumman / McDonnel Douglas YF-23 prototypes. It lost out to the Lockheed-Martin / Boeing YF-22 which went on to become the F-22 Raptor. Here is a link with more info on it.

Fogging wouldn't be a problem since it would be attached to the canopy out of view under the decal. But you are correct in that no one would be able to see it on the completed model.
-
Sounds to me kind of like a synthetic substitute for balsa wood. Good thing is that it wouldn't have a grain to it.

Pick up the "Macross Design Works" book. It has a bunch of reference material for the VF-1 and most other VF's. Also dig around on the old forums for lineart. The paintscheme threads are a good place to look for that.

I've got the Civil Defense Excaliber Mk VI. Not that bad for a small little Destroid.
-
Just an observation about Hasegawa's cockpit design. There are supposed to be bars holding Guld in place. Scope out this picture to see what I mean. Great work thus far. I love these threads.

The Anti-UN would have to have bases, fleets and fixed sturctures just like the UN. You can't fight an entire war with offensive weapons only. Plus, the only tactics we have seen from them involve a wolfpack of SV-51's. There have probably been much larger, non hit-and-run engagements using more conventional (non-overtech) weapons and tactics.
-
There aren't any VF-1's in Macross Zero yet (still hoping for low-vis VF-1), so I'll assume you're talking about the VF-0S transforming in the first episode. If you look close and slow the video down, you'll see that the legs are attached to swing bars that pop out and swing the legs down into place. The legs are never totaly free from the aircraft like they are on the 1/60 VF-1's.
-
I got the VF-11 FP, and I think it's pretty cool. I've transformed it several times and the legs are still attached. The only things I don't like are the really glossy finish and undersized FAST pack back packs. The leg packs look great as does the rest of the plane. If you like the VF-11, I'd suggest getting one.
