  1. Glad to see that you came back to review episode 26 which I agree is one of the best of the series. I think that most people who dislike Macross 7 (but like other Macross') might think a bit differently if they could be persuaded to get this far. I think the sight of a destroyed Macross 5 fleet, really gives the viewer a sense of dread which is missing previously. And despite Gepelnitch's unmasking, we still really dont know what happened to the Macross 5 fleet and what the Protodeviln have in store for 7.
  2. Got last week my Anime Legends Zeta Gundam dvd sets and have gone on a marathon so I'm halfway through by now. Good stuff. Much more compact story than the original although sometimes I find it hard to keep up with all the characters showing up, specially the Titan pilots. Anyway, I'm get the feeling that the subs are a bit poor. I understand very little japanese, but I cannot help but thinking that sometimes they only convey the bare essentials of some dialogue. I then have to go back and see it again with the dub (which is ghastly, I mean where do the get these voice actors?) to get a better feel for the situation. Has anyone who's watched the Zeta Gundam series in this version felt the same way?
  3. Yeah, that's a pretty nice version. Like the guitar specially.
  4. I got to watch the series before the movie, so I also thought that Lap's death was just kind of anecdotal. The movie makes it a bit more poignant. Regarding Fahrenheit's reaction, I thing it's a clever way of Edited for a spoiler..oops!
  5. Zeta Gundam. Like the "dark" tone of the first chapters so far.
  6. Ha, ha. I just remember the movie now, where a bunch of Soviet soldiers piloting a Topol iCBM launcher unwind by partying to Soul Finger. Classic!
  7. I like the movie a lot when i saw it back in the day (JC really knows how to create a creepy atmosphere, huh?) and after reading your review I might give this a shot.
  8. You guys are absolutely right. Watched the clip yesterday and now I can't drive my car or take a shower without hearing that damned song in my head....
  9. As we we move forward in the discussion of LOGH, I guess that this will be recurring topic: the Reinhardt-Kircheis relationship and the importance of Kircheis in LOGH.
  10. Flegel's reaction is absolutely priceless! The one thing I remember the most from this movie is it's wonderful use of the entirety of Maurice Ravel's Bolero. The way the piece finishes just as Yang's ship positions itself underneath Reinhardt makes for an epic moment. Although a handful of films have used this piece as a soundtrack, I cannot think if any in which it's used to such brilliant effect.
  11. Thanks for the feedback guys. I won't have to wait that long then to check them out.
  12. Finished Eden of the East the tv series and found out that Any one have any idea when the E. of E. films will have an official stateside release? As far as I can tell, they have been licensed by Funimation but I can't find a release date.
  13. Watching Eden of the East. So far so good. The premise is a bit reminiscent of the Bourne movies but in a completely different setting and more massive scale...
  14. Watched it last night and have to agree with everyone. I'd read the book so I knew what was coming, but the filmmakers managed to somehow inject the story with more oomph, which makes the end result totally more satisfying.
  15. You're not gonna regret it one bit. It's that good a story. You will however have to spend a long time in watching the whole thing (110 episodes!).
  16. Absolutely Love LOGH. It's one of the great injustices that this masterpiece never got a release outside Japan. However I've just recently seen it, so watching it again would be kinda unnecesary for me. Have it fresh in my memory though, so I'd love to participate in any discussions on it if that's allright.
  17. yeah, Fractale does seem like it might be the best of the bunch. Having said, I'll take a look at Wolverine just because he was my one of my favourite X-Men and I don't like Bryan Singer & Hugh Jackman's version of him, so here's to hoping that Madhouse does a better job of portraying him. Finished with Maison Ikkoku. Man, that was a long one but it was well worth the 96 episodes. The character designs and animation are a bit dated, but the story and dialogue are so good that it more than makes up for it. Definitely ranks in my book as one of the finest love stories I've seen not only in anime but in any media. Couple of episodes toward the end almost brought out the man tears.
  18. I wasn't saying that at all. I respect Shoji Kawamori and his work too much for that. I was just implying that the trailer was very cleverly made, showing bits and pieces of the film that could have many possible outcomes, leaving us as spectators really wondering as to how things will actually play out. That was all. My choice of language to express that might not have been optimal.
  19. Man, it seems that Kawamori-sama will be trolling people left and right with this one. Klan alone in a wedding dress, Ranka and Alto sharing a moment the way Alto did with Sheryl in the series, Grace being apparently shot? Sheryl in a nurse outfit.... I can't wait!!
  20. A lot of hot blooded males are begging for that to happen! As far as I know there's an OVA coming out at some point this year. As for a second season, well the manga is ongoing so I guess they can either wait till the manga is finished or do a "Gantz" and give the anime it's own direction and resolution to the story.
  21. Thats pretty remarkable considering Frontier is 3 years old now. I guess the films were more popular than expected?
  22. Kick*ss poster. It really does seem that the movie is going in a new direction!
  23. Hey, Saint Seiya was pretty cool for it's time!
  24. Nice acoustic version. Who's the singer? She done anything else we should know of?
