  1. Discotek is really becoming the saviour of the old otaku set. I can think of no one better to pick up this stuff and make a really good release of it. My wallet is getting ready for Giant Robo and Kimagure Orange Road.
  2. FInally got to watch Arriety with my kids. It might not be god tier like some of Miyazaki's films, but it's such a beautiful and poignant film. And the art is unbelieavable.
  3. How are the subs on Funi’s edition compared to the Japanese ones?
  4. Macross 7 fleet. Those guys had the best live music and I want to hook up with Flower Girl.
  5. Although this season is poorer than the last one, there are a couple of surprises. One is Angolmois, that depicts the attempted invasion of a Mongolian fleet on a Japanese islands in the 1300's. The other is High Score Girl which is love story between a girl and a boy that are mad about videogames and arcades. In the early 90's that is. Lots and lots of early videogame references. Having a blast with that one.
  6. I think a lot of people are putting too much emphasis on "Delta was not meant for Western fans" angle. Delta's lack of popularity around this parts as far as I can read it, was due to the bad characterization and bad storytelling after episode 13. Not the idols, magical girl angles or the like. I think Kawamori can do pretty much wherever he wants as long as there is a good story and characters behind it. But with Satelights record on that regard lately, I will not hold my breath.
  7. I think the two are not mutually exclusive (as much as some love to make that statement). And the popularity of the show in Japan (the way I see and read it on social media at least) is all about Walküre and their music, with little if no focus on the Delta series itself.
  8. I thought the OP doesn't fit the tone of the series too much, but I actually like the song. The problem this season is going to have is the story shifts gear somewhat. It's going to be more about
  9. I'm hoping the new series rekindles the fire smoldering inside Macross fans
  10. Got back from summer holiday (and a nefarious wifi connection) and binge -finished some stuff. FMP was pretty solid IMO, although the production issues made it maddening to follow at times. Now I really hope they manage to finish it. I want to see that ending with Kaname and Sousuke. Darling in the FRANXX went full Gunbuster at the ending. Trigger cannot deny that they're the sons of Gainax. Big time. I think the series lacked some narrative structure and tried too many themes at the same time. after an impressive spring season, I'm on too summer season 18 and I must say it's pretty disappointing so far. At least we get Attack on Titan 3 in a couple of hours.
  11. i should have been more expansive in my post. Of course I meant to say in 2018! It's more of a minirant that while Satelight gives us Delta, Gundam is pumping out stuff like IBO and Thunderbolt. And Macross Plus is not arguably better than Thunderbolt. It's much better all around. That is why I own it in 5 different presentations and watch it at least once a year.
  12. You should check out Steins Gate 0 (well if you've seen the first one too). Its a great watch! And Legend of the Galactic Heroes, while nowhere nearly as good as the Artland OVA from the 90's, is still pretty decent.
  13. Normally I don't really like biopic films, but seeing that trailer got me stoked. Queen is the soundtrack of my childhood and I cannot miss this!
  14. I also prefer CD Japan's website. But the postal service in my country takes a while to process good coming in from overseas and on top of the VAT and taxes adds a 20 dollar surcharge for administrative fees (irrespective of article price). Amazon already includes my local vat in the price I pay for shipping with DHL so it's faster, less hassle and at least 15 bucks cheaper per shipment.
  15. Thanks Seto. I'll survive without the tote bag I think Yeah, I don't know what happened to Amazon Japan's english page. It used to have more info in English before.
  16. The Terror is a fabulous adaptation of the Dan Simmons novel. Just absolutely top notch. I'm sad that it doesn't seem to be getting the love it should. Regarding Lost in Space, I'm pretty surprised about how watchable it is. It helps that the young actors are pretty good. And those Macross similarities! Danish, my friend this is a Danish production!
  17. If there was no Artland OVA I'd be willing to admit that it does a solid job of adapting the novels by Tanaka-sensei. But alas, the Artland version exists and this just feels flat, lacking in grandeur. Is it the score, the dialogue, the voice acting? I don't know.
  18. Fate doesn't have a fandom. It's a cult. I remember when Fate Zero was out, their fans from hell were out in force policing forum discussion threads on MAL and coming down hard and punishing any dissent that went against their notion that we were in the presence of a trascendental masterpiece for the ages. Good times.
  19. Does anyone know if all the BD versions of the movie are subbed? Amazon Japan's page in English is useless and Google translate doesn't want to translate since it says the web address is too long. I can see both a 9000 and a 6999 yen version and wonder if i wonder what the difference is.
  20. Man that scene after the credits, I did not see that little tidbit of information coming at all. Any chance that
