  1. I rarely drop anything after the first episode, but the much hyped Occultic;Nine was abominably bad. Other than fine art, everything else was garbage.
  2. Anyone seen Drifters today? It was a ton of fun. A lot like Hellsing back in the day.
  3. Was finally able to finish hearing your podcast guys (it was a whopper at 1 hour and 40 minutes so I had to hear it in 4 parts, LOL). I really appreciate the effort and time you put into doing these podcasts. I'm specially grateful for your input on how the series was doing/being received/interpreted in Japan. I hope we get some films soon for you to do a podcast on.
  4. I think that it might be a long, long time for a new series after Delta (I assume there will be a film or two of Delta in the next year or two). I think Kawamori has moved on conceptually from Macross. If there's ever something new from Macross by Kawamori he'll have moved on many aspects and we'll get a bunch of completely new stuff. For example, I think NUNS will be out as a player (if they are in they will be explicitly the bad guys).
  5. Diamond is Forever has a completely different feel for me than the first 2 seasons (which I preferred). I get the feeling that when the creator made the first two, he had been watching Indiana Jones or the like. With this season, I feel like he was watching Twin Peaks.
  6. Friggin loved Izetta. Gorgeous art, animation and music and a cool as heck WW2 setting. Gundam IBO delivered in it's start of the second season too.
  7. I think he could pull off a convincing Reina
  8. New season starting soon. Nothing that looks too exciting with the exception of the second part of Gundam IBO. Might check out the new Madhouse anime, "All Out". Not very often you get a rugby themed show! Luger 1951 looks interesting too.
  9. Can they even play Stateside? You know, I can think of a certain company that might raise up a fuss.
  10. Shame to hear some of you guys have been ill. Delta withdrawal syndrome? What's the knee-jerk reaction to Delta been with Japanese audiences? Is Big West going to get bang for it's buck or is the franchise going to go back to it being niche of a niche?
  11. The good: They didn't cop out with resolving the triangle and the guy delivered a proper confession and got a proper non ambiguous romantic ending. And it's refreshing that the young girl actually won vs. the mature one. The bad: This episode came too late and felt too rushed. The ugly: Bogue survived as did most of the Knights. Worst Macross antagonist ever.
  12. I'm not so sure about that. Re-using the music of a previous film/work seems to always be riddled with copyrights issues that make it a no-no.
  13. It seems that the live action film project is proceeding as planned and casting is well under way. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2016-09-22/james-cameron-alita-battle-angel-film-casts-deadpool-ed-skrein/.106755 I love, just love the casting of Christoph Waltz as Ido. I'd love it even more if he was Desty Nova. Now if we can just get Cameron to replace Rodriguez at the last minute and we can jump for joy.
  14. Looks pretty solid from here. If I were to be picky, the only thing that looked a bit odd to me was Motoko looking a bit scared in the last clip.
  15. I have no wishes. They will not come true anyway What will happen: a) It will be rushed (Impossible to wrap everything up in 24 minutes) b) The Knights will be the insufferable imbeciles they've been throughout this show and will say "The wind is (insert adjective or verb here)" dozens of times. We'll get a single token death of one of them but the rest will be redeemed because they're not evil, right? I mean mind controlling an entire galaxy is perfectly reasonable if you're a wronged bishounen. c) An impossibly long medley of forgettable pop songs. Hopefully the background action will be attractive enough to entertain us.
  16. The hype cycle could easily return. The last Evangelion film ever would sell big in Japan and among Western otaku. That franchise is too important for it not to gather enough hype or interest. the big question is if Anno really wants to. Everytime he does some EVA his health suffers because of it. He gets too personally involved in it.
  17. This is the first Macross series released in Japan that gets subs as soon as it comes out. As such and as a fan I of the entire franchise, I will support it by buying the entire run of Delta. But I must confess that many years will probably pass before I try watching past episodes14,15. Gubaba's scoop on what happened with the script actually makes me feel worse. At least if changes had been made during the broadcast run of the series, it would have been understandable that producing a quality script on such short notice is almost mission impossible. Now there's not even that excuse.
  18. Here's to hoping now that he's done with Godzilla. Good to see you're still around. Have missed you posting around these parts.
  19. A hell of a necrobump, but I didn't want to do a separate thread for this. Hikaru Utada's song new video has unused cuts from the 3rd Rebuild movie. Some beautiful visuals too. Available for a short time only apparently. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2016-09-18/evangelion-3.33-music-video-for-hikaru-utada-song-features-unused-cuts/.106612
  20. I'm harboring an impossible dream that the studio that's doing this adaptation goes bankrupt and that a proper studio (think Madhouse or MAPPA) takes charge of the next season and gives a proper version, with animation and art worthy of the source material.
  21. Yeah, some of us here backed the Kickstarter. It's fine as an pilot or appetizer for a TV series or film. The animation and music are pretty good and I like the characters. They changed some of the staff along the line, so the promised storyline is not there (the whole terrorists in Tokyo 2020 thing). So the story is a bit on the conventional side.
