Put it up in parsecs. Joking, joking. Since the front landing gear is located far behind the cockpit, that will give some room for some kind of gimmick to allow for the heatshield, I hope.

You seek the Yamato 1/60 VE-1 Elintseeker. Macross World VE-1 review page Otherwise there was an old 1/55 chunky-monkey release, although I'm sure it'll cost you a pretty penny.

I'm not too tickled pink about my VF-0A CF myself. I only intended to get the CF version (unless a 0D came out). I have it now, and don't intend on getting anymore, including repaints. Not worth it to me if they're just going to bust. The replacement arms so far aren't sounding that great. And, I am still waiting to hear how the VF-0A Shin will be holding up to scrutiny.

Seriously if it's Macross Wing, or Macross Idol Gravitation... I don't even want to think about it! -
Macross 25th Anniversary and upcoming new TV series thread

Well to not get too off topic and continue my point regarding HG and M25. HG has caused Macross fans a lot of grief over the years with various claims on Macross. Despite them not having much of a foothold anymore, I think that companies won't want to dish out extra money in case HG wants to bleed them. I completely agree with you zinjo on all that you said about HG. It's just that the history of Macross and HG is so damned ridiculous, and not the way it should be (both legally and in comparison to other titles involving rights). Agreed, it's getting off topic. And man do I want M25 to get a US release! I'm hoping that the tv series is full of surprises (good ones). -
Awesome pics! Makes it difficult for me to wait for a repaint.

Hmmm, if male connector is too big... Use Lube. Your explanation makes sense to me psychodynamix. But I'm betting that the chemical reaction is just the nail in the coffin when combined with your theory. So Yamato doesn't seem to think it's the ball joint being ovular as opposed to spherical that's causing the problems.

Macross 25th Anniversary and upcoming new TV series thread

M7 in the US is highly unlikely due to having to go the extra mile for the music licenses as well. As for a M25 release... It might not be worth it if they have to duke it out in court with HG, or if HG demands that Bandai include them in the deal to bring M25 to the US (like with TokyoPop and M7 Trash). Big West would axe the release, because it would probably set a precedent conceding that HG is right and that they have a claim to all things Macross (I'm not a lawyer, so correct me if I'm wrong). And unless M25 does really well and looks like it would do well internationally, it might not be worth the trouble to release it in the US. Especially if there are a lot of fansubbers. If a lot of the potential customers have already watched it, why bother releasing it if even a quarter of them won't buy the release. It's like the problem of scanlaters and manga companies. A number of companies decide that it's not worth it to release a series because most of the people that would buy the series have already read it, have that series in their computer for free, and a great deal will decide not to buy it. There's a mistaken belief that there's an unspoken agreement between scanlaters and the companies, that they will follow unspoken rules like taking down the scanlated manga after it's been licensed. BUT, the damage has already been done. That's why the manga companies hate the scanlaters' guts. I take it that it's the same with anime and fansubs. Same thing, different medium. Why else would Bandai Visual announce GITSAC SSS, with a threat that it would nail the fansubbers to the wall if they touched it? As much as I would love a US release of post-M+ titles. I don't see it as something that will happen... short of HG getting pied to death by disgruntled fans and all the paperwork and computers being eaten by said disgruntled fans. Or should I word it, "when Yamato releases Robotech toys". -
The 1/72 YF-19 was a thing of beauty compared to the Bandai M7 VF-19kai. I bought that thing way back before Yamato came out with the M+ valkyries, because I was desperate for a transforming 19 toy. Boy was that a decision I wound up regretting. I've kept it for old times sake, and every once in a while I bring it out and transform it... Then I laugh, and laugh, and laugh! And I gleefully go back to messing with my Yamato valkyries. I do admit that the 1/72 VF-11 has always frustrated me, since it never wanted to hold together in fighter mode. Then there was the broken hip after a while... I treasure my VF-11 though. It was my first transforming vakyrie that wasn't a chunky-monkey. I just always knew that it could be done better. I've dreamt of the day they'd come back and re-do the VF-11. Still dreaming, although that dream is at my fingertips.

Oooooh. Groovy, we know the story now. Thanks Graham! I guess I'll just glue the shoulder back together later and wait to hear progress reports on everyone else's replacement arms to see if it's worth spending the money. edit: dur where are my manners!

Ah, gotcha. It would be hard to match the quality and durability in such a small package (especially those tiny chicken hands with little snappable fingers, which I didn't think about before, unless they let them be big hands... Yeah right, big hands from Yamato. ). But, I think Yamato could still pull it off. They have experience from doing the 11 in the past, and they've worked on much more difficult valks like the 19. I of course, wouldn't turn down the VF-11 in 1/48 though.
-
Oh, hey nice, I forgot about the special edition VFX2. I'd love a VF-5000!
-
Agreed, eugimon, I hate the damned 1/72 heatshield. I busted both of mine trying to remove them for use. But, I have to disagree with you Lonely Soldier Boy. There is a lot of room for improvement over the 1/72, even in 1/60 scale. Besides sculpt and proportions, there would be an upgrade in the joint system (A-stance gerwalk!), removeable intake covers, upgraded push-in/pull-out feet, gunpod attaching between the arms in fighter mode (instead of to that flap), upgraded hands, and an updated transformation process. Mmmmm, thinking about an updated VF-11 makes me drool.
-
I'm divided on wanting it to be actually 1/60 or having it be 1/48. I figure that Yamato will go 1/60 since that seems to be the scale they've been sticking with. On one hand I'd like a nice sized VF-11. On the other hand, I would like my VF-11 to be in scale with my VF-0, and the eventual 19 and 21 when I get them. Smaller would also be a great thing for displaying, since the larger 1/60 valkyries take up a bit of room. I'm leaning more towards hoping they go non size-tweaked 1/60.

Yeah, I had posted that image in the 19fp +foldildo thread. I'd definitely buy that scheme of 19.

WOO! Thanks for letting us know, Graham!

Good luck and remember to un-tighten the screws as a just-in-case, to relieve stress on the shoulder.

Damn that sucks. I hate tailgaters. And yes, I am assuming some @ss was tailgating and was talking on their cell phone, then went boom. I hope Mari heals up alright and doesn't worsen her neck injury. -
Nothing's wrong with the nose. With my tastes I would paint the nose the same color as the body, but that's because I'd be going for a stealth 19, which wasn't your intention. It kicks @ss period.
-
The only part of the VF-11 that really worries me is the shoulders/arms transformation, how sturdy it is. For the 1/72 they needed the shoulder bars. I would be worried how well that area would hold up on a 1/60 scale toy without shoulder bars. Although I'm sure that Yamato will be able to pull off something awesome, I'm still slightly worried.
-
That's awesome! You going to repaint the nose section too?

Super Nova Blue! Blue better than Orange.

Graham escaped the ninjas! Huzzah!

Not bad of a mod. I see boobies!

No such thing as an Alpha fighter in Macross. You seek to post in the Other Anime and Sci-Fi thread. There's even a thread on that company's beta thingy.
