Who is the best pilot in Macross universe
Sumdumgai replied to Isamu test pilot's topic in Movies and TV Series
I vote Max Genius. Survived Space War I with buttloads of kills. Had a long piloting career leading up to his eventual promotion to Captain and leader of the Macross 7 emigration fleet. Then there's these two bits from M7 (I put a spoiler tag since I remembered not everyone's seen it). Roy was a great pilot. He got unlucky and bit it. Ivanov must have been quite the pilot himself, considering that he gave younger Roy a LOT of trouble. While Isamu is a good pilot, I don't think he's as good as Max or Roy. From the test results we saw during Project Super Nova, Guld seemed rather average in the things they were testing, and I doubt that he would have been piloting that well without the BCS and BDI. -
Normally I would not buy a SV-51, but Dobber's I would buy.

Basara is annoying, but Mylene is so much worse. I kept wishing she'd be blown out of an airlock.
-
Hehe, I know what you mean Dante74. My YF-19 is parked in front of my monitor in fighter mode, no fps. Yikes, I need more room to display stuff, by desk is covered in figures and mecha.

IF Yamato hasn't painted it in past releases, I highly doubt they'll start now.

Terminator Salvation, colon, Really Long Movie Title
Sumdumgai replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Go with James Cameron's original choice for Terminator, Lance Henrickson. Yes he's old, but what would help blend better? A big hulking Arnold, or some thin old dude. Not that I expect a lot of thought or logic to go into the story. -
VF-4 Lighting III, Ghost X9 and YF-21... When?
Sumdumgai replied to Isamu test pilot's topic in Toys
Might be a mixture of licensing and not enough demand. It might not be all that popular in Japan. They'd probably have to get a license for Flashback 2012, Digital Misssion VFX, or M3. -
"as rare as a Yamato spotless of a QC issue", that's certainly quotable! By the way, what Asuka figure is that? In the pink dress, on the left of the top shelf. addition: Thanks for the info and link! I generally don't buy sega figures because I don't like the sculpts, but that one looks nice.

Awwww. Well, Yamato has been known to change their minds on things (1/100 VF-0 to 1/60 VF-0, 1/60 Destroid Monster), although the Monster may not be a good example... I hope they change their mind on a VF-4. I needs one. In fact you can tell them that "some dumg guy" wants a VF-4. As for the VF-2SS, I realized one of the major things that bugged me about the design. The legs being so far off to the side in fighter mode. It looks off, being separated so far from the body.

I wouldn't want to be the pilot of the mecha on the receiving end of that kick! That's an awesome pose!
-
Yeah, seeing that YF-19 pose, I was thinkging "Oh man, if there's an earthquake, it might fall!" Also living in california, I'm always worrying about earthquakes and my cat knocking stuff over. I love your display with Asuka's Eva-02 doing some major ownage.
-
Nice display cabinet and nice collection! Just curious, but do you get earthquakes where you are in Australia?

MW keeps logging me out
Sumdumgai replied to David Hingtgen's topic in MW Site News & Member Feedback
I get logged out all the time. I've deleted and refreshed my cookies, made sure I do like V4lkyrie3, and I randomly get logged out. I just live with it, but I curse a lot. I think MW forums does that to people it dislikes. -
As I have said in the past: Appale Genki Scheme! Advertising for that little juice mascot. Cover the VF-0 and SV-51 with a sandy beach scheme with a palm tree and a bunch of appale genkis.

Yeah, I hate international shipping. It's worse buying stuff from the US now that the US Post Office stopped cheap shipping for overseas.

Terminator Salvation, colon, Really Long Movie Title
Sumdumgai replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Well... Setting it in the future could be interesting, depending on how they do it. :Joke mode on: They could remake the first movie with the slogan: "We rape your past" Then remake terminator 2 and 3 combined, set in the present with the slogan: "We rape your present" Then do this movie for in the future: "We rape your future" :Joke mode disengaged: I won't make any serious comments until we know more about it, but all I can do is raise an eyebrow at this development. -
One Japanese review site I found and lost, that had Saint Cloth Myth reviews that I couldn't read but had nice pictures, had a horrifying pic. The guy had taken a pic of Myth Cloth Hydra Ichi wearing Pandora's robe. Followed by a pic of Pandora stabbing him with her trident. addition: Nope, that site's not it, the review was missing Minos and Kanon.

I've been itching to know more about the Minmay figure. They should do like they did on the Animal Girls Lynx figures and allow for removeable clothes.

He means the one-off VF-19kai/custom probably (like azrael said), the Fire Valkyrie, BOMBA! At least it retained missiles that could actually blow stuff up, and the forward mounted wing-lasers. Although now that I just checked the compendium, it doesn't have head lasers listed. I guess the things on the side of the head are decorative, considering they don't appear in fighter, where they'd be needed most as rear-facing anti-aircraft/missile lasers.

Ooooh, I didn't realize you guys meant to use the fold energy as a directed weapon, versus you going up to something and folding out with chunks of it. Glad to help with the Isamu figure guys. I know how hair pullingly annoying it can be searching for particular trading figures while not being screwed over by evil-bay or taking the chance on some shop that you've never heard of before and no one else has either.

Well Max wasn't always a gentleman in his head. I do recall being surprised when he's sizing up Miria while girl hunting and thinking to himself about her breast size "expands when unwrapped". You also have to take into account that they've been married for almost 30 years. Miria who was the Ace pilot of the zentraedi fleet has had to constantly live in the shadow of Max, arguably the greatest pilot in the human fleet, who was/is quite macho and had the "woman in the kitchen attitude". If what I remember reading on the Macross Compendium was correct, Miria was second in command of the fleet, until the straw broke the camels back and she decided to be number one of something and ran for mayor of city 7, to have the highest position of civilian authority, since she couldn't for military.

No problem Jeremy007. I know what you mean sqidd. I thought it would be really nasty to sneak close to another mecha or capitol ship, position your valkyrie just right, and fold away so that you take half of their cockpit with you or something vital on the capitol ship (like part of the bridge). You take out the pilot or leave a gaping hole in the bridge for the command crew to be sucked out of. Or space fold a really big reaction warhead right in the midst of an enemy fleet. No way to shoot that one down.
-
Actually Jeremy007 you can get him here: Twin Moons has Isamu in stock Tam at Twin Moons has them in stock, I saw he had a number left when I picked up my YF-19 at his place. Check out the rest of his site, he's got some nice deals, especially if you live in Southern California, because you can arrange to pick up your stuff from him to save yourself headaches with shipping and the possibility of evil mailmen.

Dragon Ball movie rescued from dev hell?
Sumdumgai replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
You asked for it areaseven! I think that 3x3 Eyes would make a more interesting live-action movie than Dragon Ball, especially if they do it similar to the OVA series.
