I was just wondering if any of you guys use those Compact Fluorescent Lightbulbs, those energy saving ones that have the big base, cost more initially, but save on electricity. I've replaced most bulbs in the house with the energy saving ones, and was fine with them until I heard somewhere that someone had their collection get messed up because of the light. I went reading around and found that the fluorescent type lightbulbs give off UV, not as bad as the sun, but still a substantial amount. This got me cursing a lot, since I didn't know this and have had that kind of light shining down on a great deal of my collection for I don't know how long. So my question to those of you that have been using this type of lightbulb near your collection, have you noticed any fading/discoloring/sun-type-damage on your figures, valkyries, prop replicas, etc?

The VAT-127 scheme is pretty cool. I like your Mr March VF-4 re-do, Mr March! It's very clean and crisp.

Does anyone else feel this is a sign, that the meeting date is on "21". I think it is a good sign.
-
Yeah, I only recalled VF-11s inside the Macross 5 fleet too. But, I thought it was possibly I missed something. I'm constantly discovering things I missed, so I thought there was a tiny possibility there could have been something in the background.

Actually on the topic of M7 and VF-4s. If I remember correctly, the M7 fleet did have VF-4s at one time. In Macross 7 Trash (if you consider it cannon), that ex-pilot-woman was training under Miria in a VF-4 when there was an accident. I don't remember if they were only using them for training purposes or if they still hadn't finished switching to the VF-11 as the main variable fighter (although at least 8 years had passed since the VF-11 started mass production by the time the M7 fleet launched in 2038). Supposedly the Macross 5 colony fleet had VA-14s. I have to go back and watch through the episode where Basara goes through the Macross 5 investigating to see if there's any VA/VF-14-ish fighters in the hangar bay (crap, I'm missing that episode).

I know Patlabor mostly from the movies, and one volume of the OVA I have on VHS. I never got around to getting the rest of the series, but I loved the seriousness of the movies. I second vermillion01, the 3rd movie wasn't really a Patlabor movie, it was a detective movie set in the Patlabor universe.

Oh man, if Yamato makes a VF-4 toy, they have to use this scheme! We can call it the Mr March scheme.

Will it be dark blue? Or will it be a purple people eater? Will it be yellow stripes? Or will Kawamori decide it was actually GOLD, but animated wrong?

I found Gen to be an interesting character with the whole style-switch ability. Too bad they didn't work more on it, because I thought it was a pretty cool idea. I remember getting so mad fighting Sagat in original SF2. I just couldn't beat him back then. I also remember all the retarded rumors there were about how to play as Ryu and Ken's master, who was this old guy with white hair. So the code to play as him was to hold start, do some joystick movements, hit a succession of buttons, and start hitting and shaking the arcade machine. It was only slightly less retarded than the guy who told me the code to revive General Leo in FF3/VI was to take the cartridge and slam it on the ground. There was also the rumor I remember about Guile being able to pull out a gun and get an instant win if he shot his opponent.

Who is the best pilot in Macross universe
Sumdumgai replied to Isamu test pilot's topic in Movies and TV Series
I forgot which Macross book it was in, but Miria does own Max once. They're in bed, in pajamas, and she just chopped him in the back of the neck while reading "How to Karate". It's in one of the SDF Macross books with information, illustrations, and character+mecha designs. -
1/60 YF-19. I wanted that baby even since '95, when Macross Plus came out in the US. I already had a Joons 1/55 VF-1J Hikaru type. But, I waited 13 years to get that valkyrie, and I just can't stop looking at it. I had gone out and bought the Bandai 1/65 Fire Valkyrie, because I was desperate. Then passed up the 1/72 YF-19 because I thought it could be done better, especially after the 1/60 VF-1, then they did the 1/48 VF-1. I waited patiently. Having the YF-19 is just so satisfying. Now for a 1/60 VF-11, and the certain 1/60 YF-21...

Nice poses, display, and collection Sqidd! I only have the Eva-04, and have it set up firing the mp5 from around the side of the riot shield. Man, I would not want to be in front of your Eva-02, that's an awesome pose.

The plane in the pic doesn't look like a Macross M3 VF-14, but like a M7+ VF-14. In particular the cockpit looks like the one from the M7+ Spiritia Dreaming episode. I'd put up a screenshot, but I forgot what button combination it was to screen-cap it. The M3 VF-14 has a pitot tube or laser on the tip of the nose that is absent on the M7+ version. Actually, I think a black VF-4 would kick @$$.

Yeah, I actually got really good with Dan. I originally didn't realize he was just a joke character because the machine I would play on had him unlocked, no need for codes or anything. So I practiced with him, got really good, and would anger a lot of people by beating them with him. I really liked SVC Chaos Dan. That wrist-breaking-unblockable-punch was awesome. I really like Sakura. She was so refreshingly new yet familiar. And that you can do damage with her taunt is hilarious. I've actually countered a level three super by taunting (my friend hit me hard for that one). I've always hated how the computer never has to charge to do charging moves, like with Guile.

.. for the 2D Capcom/SNK lovers 'Question!'
Sumdumgai replied to ruskiiVFaussie's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
For characters that have been in VS games only: Athena Asamiya- has a fireball, reflect, uppercut, teleport, and a mid-air attack that you can do at any height. Has a Super that pretty much protects her from practically everything, and you can corner people with it and juggle them. I believe she can also jump off the wall. Ken/Evil Ken - Ken is just one of my all time favorite characters to play as, Evil Ken was refreshingly fast and strong. MvC2 Ken has that nice rising hurricane kick. I've always loved his flaming shoryuken. I can't count the number of time's I've countered all sorts of attacks, including other people's supers, with a shinryuken pulled off with a fist or foot already hitting Ken. Kyo Kusanagi/Iori Yagami/Rugal Bernstein/Vice/Chun-Li/Cammy- I was really good with '95 style Kyo in the later games. With '97+ Kyo, I was really good and could pull off some crazy combos or just play mind games. I was pretty good with Iori, but one of my friends specialized in him and was much better. I was practically unbeatable with Rugal even in Rugal vs Rugal fights. Vice was a really mean character to play as, since I could do all sorts of mind games with her. Chun-Li is my speed-game character. Cammy is total offense for me, and I love her attacks. For characters in any Capcom or SNK game: Mature- She was probably my all time best character, even more so than Rugal. She had such an array of techniques, I could use her very offensive, defensive, or play mind games. She didn't have great supers though. Ralph/Leona Heidern/Ukyo Tachibana (Bust)- Galactica Phantom for you after I knock you down. You get up, you can't block, you go flying and lose at least a quarter of your life bar. Ralph has been one of my favorite characters to play as in KOF, even more so when they added Ralph Tackle to his move list. Leona has been a long time favorite, although harder for me to play offensive with her charging moves. I've got a number of tricks with her that let me catch people off guard. Ukyo was my all time best character in Samurai Showdown/Spirits. I could use Tsubame Gaeshi offensively and defensively. Ken/Athena/and all the rest in my VS list- see VS list. -
Which Macross Plus Pilot do you like better?
Sumdumgai replied to Roy's Blues's topic in Movies and TV Series
Roger that, Roy Focker. Actually, I would cast my vote on Sharon Apple instead. She can sing, she can fly, she can hypnotize people, and she's got multiple hot virtual bodies. That sure beats the hell out of Isamu, Guld, and if you want a comparison on singing and flying, Basara. -
I remember pissing off my friends while using Ken in the arcade for SF:Alpha. I would pull off a super right when they were in the middle of hitting me, and it would cancel out and counter their attack. I remember getting hit in the arm a lot for frustrating them. Then they would pull the cheap tactic of hitting my taunt button so they could try to hit me with a super. Ah, good times.

Or somebody got cute and put bunny ears behind the cockpit on the VF-14. It could be some test plane for VF-14 upgrades, or was maybe an alternate model of VF-14 with canards. Like how the VF-X-11 had a plane with canards (that was endorsed by test pilot Miria, and chosen), and a plane without. Huh, the VF-11 without canards must have looked weird.

Isamu was there, and I doubt he was knocked unconscious by that punch. I don't think Guld had the time to rape her before Isamu would have gotten back up and laid into him with his fists. Bringing Psychology into it, what makes you think he raped her? That scene is very open to interpretation. It's not like the ending to Jin-roh. You are stating your opinion as facts Justiciar. -
Which Macross Plus Pilot do you like better?
Sumdumgai replied to Roy's Blues's topic in Movies and TV Series
I feel that Isamu is the more experienced, talented pilot, who is much more willing to take chances and look death in the face while sticking out his tongue and laughing all the way. Guld is a ticking time bomb with mental problems, repressed memories, and what not. Not to mention the whole, punch your best friend in the face, then tear off the shirt of your female friend and possibly rape her (this topic has been discussed as he did or didn't, and it's been discussed to death). I think Isamu is the better pilot. I think the YF-21 is the better fighter. I think both pilots are a**holes, and I'm glad I don't know anyone like them in real life. -
I think the transforming toy was the Bubblegum Crisis Motoslave.

To me it looks like the stabilizers are angled in too far to be a VF-4. The VF-4's vertical stabilizers don't cant in at such a steep angle. I figure that the thing behind the cockpit could be the stabilizer due to the perspective being weird. It may not necessarily be a VF-14, but I'm fairly certain it's not the VF-4. Besides it seems too large.
