Daaaamn, so that's why the 19 needed to go in for repairs before they brought in Isamu! Good luck on the custom! It scares me sh**less to see a 19 that way.

When MW went down for a bit, on Macross Nexus some MW members had a discussion going about how Yamato could integrate the heatshield. I forgot where I put the picture on my computer, but a number of us worked modifying of each others' diagrams to come up with similar but slightly different ideas. I can't remember who else was working on it in that thread. In any case a 1/60 PT VF-11B would need to be: -balanced -without shoulder sliders -durable -integrated heatshield -be able to use FP -be able to have full armor -no engineering or QC problems or flaws on the first run -have an eventual low vis type scheme one day

Not completely related to the movie, but I went to the Star Trek The Tour today. Very interesting and fun to look at the costumes, props, prosthetics, and ships. The rides and the movie experience kind of sucked. They had a big revolving model of the Enterprise A, had the saucer section of the Enterprise D from generations, a model of a Constellation class starship (like the Stargazer), a model of the USS Excelsior used in Voyager, and a model of a Nebula class starship. It was cool to see a display filled with phasers from all the different series. Definite favs for me are TOS, STIII, and STVI assault phaser. TOS uniforms, uniforms from TMP, TWOK, General Chang's costume from STVI. Got to inspect the bridge of TOS Enterprise and sat in the captain's chair. Bought a TOS type II hand phaser toy from the gift shop, and spent the rest of the afternoon attempting to dematerialize everything. Ah, if only they had some reject costume designs or something from the new movie that was a rejected design so they could at least show something...

Yeah, the Scylla Scale is a chimera-ish creature.

Thanks for the scans Graham! My mouth is watering over the YF-21! I may just eat it when I get one... -
Macross Frontier News Thread *Read 1st post*

Awesome scans Graham! The VF-171 looks great! The VB-6 Koenig Monster looks fitting with the shark mouth. About the only time I actually like seeing the shark mouth on an aircraft. And the Q-rau looks cool and weird. The shoulder cannon looks awesome. The two thingies sticking off the other shoulder... Make it look weird. And Ranka keeps summoning the image of a dog to my mind. -
I'll give these figures the benefit of the doubt and wait for updated pictures. If Graham says they're looking better since that last photo, I believe him and will wait to see.

Interest has dropped a lot. Unless the production versions look incredibly better, I won't get any. If the VF-11 improves a lot, I might pick one up just because it's the VF-11.

So that's why I couldn't understand that whisper at the end of the movie, it was ssa backwards!

I've been slightly annoyed about him being enrolled in school as well. It's not like Sarah put him in school before, from what he describes in T2. She dragged him all over the place, teaching him this and that, and having him learn stuff from people like Enrique. How to blow stuff up, handle weapons, etc. Just like what glane21 is saying. It's not like he's going to need or get a University degree.

Yeah, that's Io, one of the Marinas. Damn I can't remember which scale he is, and I'm too lazy to go look it up. He's cool. I like him.

Good plan. Don't sell them until the replacements are already out. Better to be safe, than sorry.

Check out the Fox website, it's up now, I just watched it.

I like that Kamui Seiya. And I will get the Kamui Athena when they release one. Hades too when it's his real body with Kamui.

Damn. That sucks.

1/60 perfect transforming vf-1 from yamato?
Sumdumgai replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Nice pics! Looks like they did away with the gerwalk backpack antenna. Correct me if I'm wrong but it looks like it doesn't have double-jointed knees. -
Earth, space, whatever. There've been so many inconsistencies throughout Star Trek, that it's built on the ground isn't going to get my underwear in a bunch. Like Scotty saw Kirk die in Generations, but in that one TNG episode, he believes that Kirk took the Enterprise out of storage and came to rescue him. I'm just pleased with the way the Enterprise is looking. It's going to be a long wait for me for this movie...

This is what memory-alpha says about the Enterprise: "The vessel registered NCC-1701, which was constructed in San Francisco and launched in 2245, was christened the Enterprise." linky And that info was up before the teaser trailer.

I don't pay attention to Transformers anyway. I remember what the toys were like when I was a kid. I was never satisfied with them, because you couldn't pose them worth crap in their robot forms. So I never really paid attention to whether or not they ever made them poseable. Thank you Eugimon, you explained better and clearer what I was getting at. Oh, and another plus with the old 1/60s. If ever someone breaks into your house and you're holding the old 1/60 or have it nearby, you can throw it at the intruder or hit them with it. Nice heavy diecast legs.

I'm keeping my old 1/60 VF-1s. One reason is sentimental value: This was the first Yamato VF-1 I got. This was when Yamato upped the ante on what you could do with transforming toys. This is when valkyries jumped after the M+ valks to more what we are used to today, and closer to the quality of the 1/48 line. A VF-1 that could hold the gunpod in fighter mode! Somewhat detailed landing gear that didn't bite your hand ( constantly snapped my fingers with the spring-loaded ones on the chunky-monkey). The second reason is to appreciate the evolution of the VF-1 toy design. I have a Joons 1/55 chunky monkey I bought when I was a kid. I have some 1/60 VF-1s (my first was a 1A Max). And of course the 1/48s. Then again I don't have a large collection of valkyries. I've always picked my favorites and went by priorities, skipping a lot of releases. So I have more room than the collectors that get the whole line.

Cloverfield is also the Santa Monica exit that Abrams takes to go to his office, or so I read somewhere. Can't remember where, so grain of salt. Yeah, I was thinking MOAB.

TOS box sets are held in place in those bulbous cases by an internal frame. It holds a thing plastic flip books that holds the dvds and fits inside of a thick paper sleeve. There's a little foldable booklet thing that has a list of episodes and brief summaries. I saw the trailer this morning when I went to see Cloverfield. So awesome seeing it in the theater.

Went to the $5 matinee, specifically to see the Star Trek teaser, with Cloverfield as a hopefully good bonus. I loved it. Felt a little queasy a couple times due to the camera movement, but was overall fine. I loved the effects and the feeling of "OH S T! OH S T! OH S T! DID YOU SEE THAT?! OMG F KING RUN!!!" which is more or less what some characters say, but yeah. It was a refreshing new way of doing a giant monster movie. Being practically in the shoes of the characters when the s t hits the fan makes it much more personal and exciting. A few things annoyed me. This monster could kick the crap out of an army of those loser American-Godzillas. Loved ROAR! the end theme. So appropriately titled!

Hidaka Noriko and her jubblies ftw! Well considering that Bandai is the big sponsor for MF, they may have a really big veto right on who else can get the license. According to Graham, Yamato doesn't have it yet, and that does not bode well. Of course that could change without him being able to tell us...

My guess as to why Tenma's Pegasus Cloth is different is that either at the end of the last Holy War or sometime before this one, it got repaired with some strong person's blood. Not necessarily a Gold Saint, but my guess is a Silver. After this Holy War, I'm guessing that when the Pegasus Bronze Cloth gets repaired, it's with weaker blood, hence the look it has as the beginning of the original manga. It's cool. The artist of Lost Canvas basically lived and breathed Saint Seiya for years, doing doujinshi, using the pen-name "Marine Gold", and after years she's actually drawing out the series (story by Kurumada). I like the art of this series more than the original (blasphemy to some). It kicks the crap out of Okada's art for Saint Seiya G. Rhadamanthys looks great, but he's even greater once you have his appendix (the original head sucks).
