Macross Frontier Episode 6 Talkback Thread *READ 1st Post*
Sumdumgai replied to azrael's topic in Movies and TV Series
I'm betting against everyone. Ozma is going to survive the whole series. All the mentor type pilots have died in each series except Macross Plus since there wasn't one. And I'm counting Ivanov from Macross Zero, since he seemed to have once been a mentor type to Focker. And the commander in VFX2 died as well. Ozma is going to survive. -
You can try Yahoo Japan Auctions. I can't think of any online places that would have these figures still. There's a kinokuniya bookstore I know of that has some of one of the recent sets still unopened in boxes, but that's all the way down here in Southern California... I absolutely love the first dress DYRL Minmay variant that was released in the Minmay Collection. Now if only we could get some Macross Frontier figures... I'd love to get my hands on a Sheryl Nome and macronized Klan Klan.
-
Both gifs are from Macross Frontier. That's a VB-6 Koenig Monster in action baby! HELL YEAH! And yes and no, Klan Klan is quite well endowed and not at all. It'll be interesting to see if Yamato develops a destroid line. And Yamato has already released a 1/60 Q-rau in two different colors.

The crooked gunpod in fighter mode on the 19 were before the fixes on the one released with the fast packs and fold booster. I have the 19+FP+FB and the gunpod is nice and straight in fighter mode. : My VF-0A was before the Shin version with Ghost Booster. It's lost both arms. Grrr.

VF-11B and VF-5000 are made of pure win! Don't forget the VF-4, VF-14, and VF-17!

Liked the serious new theme. -
Other than the VF-0 shoulder/arm issues they're beautiful, sturdy, and fantastic. The YF-19 is a beauty, well made, but scares the crap out of me when I transform it into battroid when I have to "break" the neck. The 19 is my fav Yamato valk so far. Now if only they would make that 1/60 VF-11...

Yeah! Who wants to go on a ship full of pointy eared, tentacle-like-hair people. Especially if some of the hot chicks turn into little girls when micronized (though that may appeal to some of the population "Warera Rori Konda" if you get what I mean). -
The Iron Man song:

I was never a fan of Iron Man, but I had to see this movie and it kicked major @$$. It's competing with Batman Begins for my favorite comic-book movie.

The First Macross Frontier Merchandise.........
Sumdumgai replied to Save's topic in Movies and TV Series
The artist that did the Cat Love Macross Frontier doujinshi is Nekoi Mie (just some illustrations of Sheryl, and one page of Ranka, the rest is some other series). In my opinion that artist's artwork has been going downhill for a while. I tend to judge how popular a series is by how much doujinshi gets put out of that series (exception for CLAMP series). -
The 19 does look sucktastic to me. The YF-21 isn't that bad, but isn't great. I like the VF-11. These sure do beat the crap out of the ARII VF-1 figures with horrible articulation. Now, if Yamato made some small scaled valkyries that didn't fall apart, looked good, and were affordable, that would be awesome. And, start off with something besides the VF-1. The banpresto sucked, and I didn't like the toynami VF-1. I'd love some small transformable YF-19, YF-21, VF-11, VF-4, VF-5000, and VF-14s.

Ah, thanks for clearing that up TheLoneWolf. Makes sense that Big West would hold that over Yamato. This development is damned weird though.

Isn't it obvious? Sheryl tossed the panties into her super-dimensional-cleavage! Where it could safely be contained and transported while violating the laws of reality. -
I thought that it was Toycom that had the "cannot release Macross" toys put in place by the CEO before he jumped ship and founded Toynami to do MPC veritechs. Then Toycom closed up and reopened at Yamato USA. Is that what your referring to? Or was it something else that Graham said? Either way, this development is very interesting. Though I find it disheartening that Toynami is taking part in it.

Hot damn, I had forgotten how big and beefy that VF-11B gunpod is! It's freaking massive on this figure! The YF-21 should come with two gunpods. Although we never see it duel wielding in the anime, it does carry two, and we should have the option of having it duel wield. I'm not too interested in the 19 or 21, but the 11 is looking pretty good. Now, if Yamato decided to put out some other battroids that haven't been released like say a :VF-4, VF-5000, VF-14, VF-17... I'd be much more interested. And I would definitely pick up a Q-rau GNU, especially after seeing the updated ones in action in Macross Frontier.

What is "deculture" and Sheryl is French?
Sumdumgai replied to ComicKaze's topic in Movies and TV Series
I think that "deculture" has been integrated into society the way "otaku"and other Japanese terms have been integrated into western countries. It loses the original meaning and takes on a new one, with the original meaning often being left behind or not known period. -

Woah. Never heard of that one before. Here's a wikipedia article about Omamori: omamori I figure that Alto's is for piloting since he's obsessed with that. -

@ raymond: the thing hanging from Alto's neck that Sheryl takes is an omamori. Think of it as a good luck charm. It has a slip of paper inside it with something written inside, like protection, good luck driving, good luck on tests, good luck piloting, etc. @ shouta: why would the original writers need to be punched in the face for what is canon (an exception can be made on M7)? I'm also thinking that Sheryl and Ranka can be distantly related with the Nome blood. It's possible, since Ranka has amnesia, and the Vajra have reacted to the two of them. As for the vehicle from the Macross Galaxy fleet at the end of the episode. Just because it doesn't have visible "feet" like the majority of variable fighters in fighter mode, there's the possibility that it has a transformation more like the YF-21, where the legs in gerwalk/battroid are stored internally and are not the main points of thrust. -
Screw the gimmicks with the internal details, that's more parts to fall off like the nosecone on the 1/48. They have to make the VF-171, and that doesn't mean taking the old 1/65 M7 VF-17 and releasing it in teal plastic. As for the VF-25, if Bandai does a good job, I'm going to have to pick up Ozma's VF-25, Mikhail's, and Lucca's.

Sara was singing in French in M0. Maybe Sheryl knows multiple languages? -

The Q-raus sure can hold up against the VF-25 in training exercises. I wonder if they've received any thruster upgrades or anything. -
"It's Gendo..." duh-nuh-nuh duh-nuh-nuh duh-nuh-nuh duh-nuh-nuh (reference to Evangelion Redeath). Thanks for the pic save! Interesting stuff to see!

The YF-19 with Fast Packs and Fold Booster have fixes, the gunpod is held straight forward rather than crooked in fighter mode, and the rear landing gear cant outwards.
