LIVE ACTION ROBOTECH (WB gets the rights)
Sumdumgai replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
My ears are still bleeding. And some people say that the songs in Robotech are better than in Macross. My question to those who want this Robotech movie to be made based on Macross, do you want these Minmei songs to be put in the movie? -

Macross Frontier Mecha/Technology Thread II *Read 1st Post*
Sumdumgai replied to azrael's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I was just using the spoiler tags, since some people might not have watched the episode yet, and this is the mecha/tech thread and not the episode 12 thread. Though, we do discuss up to date happenings with mecha, so I guess I didn't need it. Storing it on the leg like that kind of made me think of the SV=51, especially with the way the VF-25 transforms and all. -

Looks like Alto never learned the Pterasaur Glide. Judging from the way the VF-25 just fell before he managed to glide it to a belly slide. -

Anyone notice that the VF-25 can store its gunpod on its leg in Episode 12? -
The biggest clash of all. VF-1 Valkyrie vs VF-1 Veritech. I forsee a bloodbath!

I see that Isamu is making good on his escape because he intercepted Dr Klahn's order to "take him to Detroit". Awesome pics ruskiiVFaussie. Having the 19 in fighter mode like that makes me want to bite my fingernails and go "AAAAAAAH!". -
Official 1/60 YF-21 News & Picture Thread (ver.2)

The VF-22 VFX2 scheme there in that screenshot is nice. I like it. I'd want one in that color, probably more than I would of one with the actual in-game colors. -
I'm guessing popular enough to warrant Yamato expanding what they're releasing. Going from 1/60+1/48 Valkyries, to branching out and making GN-U valkyrie figures, 1/200 scale trading figures of the valkyries in three different modes, and starting up the 1/60 scale Destroid line probably means that it's pretty popular. The airing of Macross Frontier is probably only helping things.

Hey guys, actually the YF-19 has a high speed mode where the forward canted wings fold back all the way. Yes, physically it's impossible due to the way the wings are shaped, but there's line art (pg82 of Macross Design Works) and it's done in Macross VFX2 when you go at maximum speed in fighter mode with the VF-19A Excalibur.

Well for the benefit of the doubt, it could be the ASS-2 that was encountered in SDF Macross when Max and Miria were with Vriltwhai and Misa to go capture the Zentraedi factory. Maybe while all the colony fleets were being sent off one of them discovered it, sent a message back to Earth with the coordinates, and a salvage/research team went and picked it up. After making sure that it wasn't a booby trap (or after having lost a ship because it was a booby trap like the Macross), they salvage the ship, bring it back to Earth and fix it up like the SDF-1 Macross, and put ARMD carriers on it. And it was named... THE MACROSS II. *ducks and runs for cover* If that were the case, the theory that what we saw in Episode 12 of MF could have been used to film DYRL, since an existing sister-ship to the Macross could have been lent out for use in a pro-UN Spacy movie. Maybe sometime after the making of DYRL, but before the time of Macross Frontier, it was part of a fleet that was lost, hence the Stealth Carriers that weren't around during Space War I. It would have had to have been there for a while to have such a weathered look with all the mossy planty bits on it. Or... Maybe the Megaroad-01 came across a deserted Supervision Army Gunboat of the same class as what was converted into the Macross, and they refitted it to use as an escort ship should they run into any big nasty fleets of zentraedi or supervision army. Then it was lost on Gallia IV around the time when the Megaroad-01 fleet disappeared. Although this wouldn't explain what we saw in the "next episode" bit, seeing what looked like the Macross with a bunch of Stealth Carriers. I bet Temjin is going to make a comeback. Yeah, his Q-rea got shot and stabbed, but we didn't see blood in the cockpit, and we didn't see an explosion after his Q-rea went under water, it just splashed down. Grace is EVIL. EVIL I TELL YOU! -

So Mihael has a pouch into which he can stuff contraband. -
Heh, damned straight it better come with a knife! I hope this thing has landing gear. It looks like it has front landing gear, but I didn't see the hatches for the rear landing gera.

In the end, HOLY $H1T. What an episode. -
I'd wait and see how the VF-25s sell before investing the money, effort, and time on a VF-27. At least that's what I'd do if I were Bandai.
-
The VF-4 also appeared in flashbacks in the manga Macross 7 Trash. I like that Max scheme VF-4. I like the Macross Digital Mission VFX color scheme VF-4 too.

Dreadpyrat, yes the new 1/60 VF-1S has poseable hands like the 1/48 (as in the fingers can be moved to grip a gunpod). The new 1/60 VF-1 transforms using a T-bar that keeps the legs connected to the valkyrie the entire time, just like the 1/48 VF-1. The original 1/60 VF-1 valkyrie had removable legs for transformation into battroid mode. You'll have to be a bit more clear on which version Super Parts you're looking for. 1/48 scale or the new 1/60 VF-1 Super Parts. If you were to pick up the new 1/60 VF-1S Strike Set. it comes with Strike parts and Super parts (the cannon can be replaced with the forward part of the Super pack). The three pronged support stands are not made by Yamato, but I can't remember who makes them or where you can get them. Someone else can chime in and help you on this.
-
I totally missed seeing that detail, thanks CF18!
-
Based on pure looks alone, I'm going to have to go with the 19 because of the unique look to it with the forward swept wings. It was the hero valkyrie in Macross Plus, and it looks awesome. While I do love the YF-21 design, it's not as visually striking as the YF-19. They're both fantastic looking fighters though.

Yamato 1/60 VF-11b under development
Sumdumgai replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I'm surprised and not surprised by the size being retconned. Whatever, as long as it's not as large as the 19, 21, 0, or SV-51. I hope the price range stays closer to the 1/60 VF-1 though... -
With the way Yamato has managed to engineer a perfect transformation SV-51 and a PT YF-21, I'm absolutely certain they'd manage to work out a transformation method for the VF-4. To this day I'm still stumped on how the nose becomes the crotchpiece in battroid mode. I just don't understand the mechanics of it, despite the diagram in the Design Works book...
-
It doesn't seem lanky enough in battroid mode, it still looks a bit chunky. Now the big question: Does the underside of the gunpod open like in the anime?

That would be because these being used in Macross Frontier are not Queadluun-Rau, they're Queadluun-Rea, a variant that has supposedly been in service since "ancient times". We just never saw it used in the series before. Although the Macross Compendium entry on the Q-rea states that the arm cannons are "triple-barreled laser pulse guns", I wonder, due to the use of simunition with the Q-rea in episode 4. Entry on the Q-rea at Macross Compendium I wonder if those chest cannons are still impact cannons like on the Q-rau or if they're laser or beam cannons... -
F&*K YES I'd buy a VF-4! It might take me a while to save up the money, but I'd get one eventually.
-
Hmmmm. Guess we'll have to just keep observing the process and hope that Bandai is getting feedback from critical fans somehow so that they can continue to refine the VF-25 toy.
