All zinjo and I are arguing is a possibility. We're not saying that we believe that the WTF-1 is absolutely a Macross Class vessel and cannot be the SDF-1 Macross at all. I have not read one convincing argument as to why it would not be possible. I've read arguments that put forth other unsupportable theories as facts (not enough resources). I don't get why some people are getting bent out of shape over this theory. There's a lot of blank space in the Macross timeline, particularly between Macross Flashback 2012 and Macross Plus, and from Macross 7 to Macross Frontier. I think we'll have some of that history filled in in episode 13.

Based on valkyrie evolution, I doubt it to be anime magic. The VF-17, YF/VF-19, YF-21, and VF-22 all have had internally stored missiles that could launch through exit ports or hatches. It would seem weird for the VF-25 to be without internally stored missiles. -

Plus if someone were to release photos here when there shouldn't be any (as in no Japanese sites have them), Yamato might get pissed at Graham again. -

Heh, maybe those are zentraedi sized remote control cars. Those trucks could be driven by hostages. "Drive these trucks or we turn you into a red smear on the ground." -

But Guilliam's VF-25 fired off a volley of missiles at the red vajra in episode 1, when he had already jettisoned the fast packs to get into the city section. He wasn't carrying any external missiles. They had to have fired from somewhere. -
I've been arguing possibilities (yes the Thermian thing was a joke), not that those possibilities are ABSOLUTELY what I think is going to happen. It could be the SDF-1 Macross. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if it does somehow turn out to be the Macross. But, it could just as likely be another Macross Class ship. In Macross Plus we didn't know that New Macross Class vessels existed during that time period, we found out they did in Macross 7. We didn't know about the APHOS, VF-0, SV-51, or Cheyenne existing in the timeline prior to SDF Macross until Macross Zero introduced them. Does it seem so far fetched to think that it could be possible there could be other Macross Class vessels that look like the Macross?

I don't remember seeing the Macross in Macross 7, although I wouldn't be surprised if they showed it in those extra DYRL scenes that aren't in our version of the movie (like Max and Miria's marriage scene). Oh yeah, here's another theory. Thermians watched Do You Remember Love which was being broadcast galactically, and built themselves a Macross, but couldn't work it well and crash landed on Gallia IV.

1/60 VF-11B as long as it's up to the standards of current releases in the looks and transformation department.

Maybe it's hair changing color implants. She's from the Galaxy fleet.

Although the series has a softer touch right now, Gilliam's death established that it can get gritty and dark, and I'm expecting the series to take a darker turn towards the end. Lucca should have a pink and blue VF-25... -
So what proof is there that it is the SDF-1 Macross? If you go strictly by what we know through the Macross Compendium then it can't be the Macross: "To date, it continues to fulfill its assigned task of planetary defense." Macross Class entry on the Macross Compendium It's clearly not stated in the Compendium that the Macross left Earth. If it's not in the Compendium than it doesn't exist in the Macross Universe according Kronnang Dunn. Can you please point to the entry that states that UN Spacy lacked the resources to build more SD ships? If they lacked the resources to build more SD ships, how did they build so many Megaroad led colony fleets, much less launching massive resource hogs like the New Macross Class colony fleets? Is it actually THE Macross we're seeing in episode 12? We won't know until episode 13. It's called "the first generation Macross vessel". If you go STRICTLY by the Compendium, then it can't be the Macross. If you don't go strictly by what's in the Compendium, then you have a bunch of theories as to what it is and how it got there. We see an image of what looks like the Macross with a bunch of Stealth frigates. The Compendium has no entries about the Macross leaving Earth. Episode 13 will probably be filling in historical gaps on the Compendium and may be giving us things we never knew of just like Macross Zero did (the VF-0, SV-51, etc.). Just because something is not in the Compendium now, does not mean that there are no possibilities.

I have an orgroid somewhere that I bought used for cheap because it was discolored from being left out in the sun. -
My VF-0A CF has shoulders like eugimon's, except they completely fell apart into little pieces.

I believe that it is possible that the WTF-1 is a Macross Class ship that was constructed sometime after the SDF-2 Megaroad-01 was launched. They could have been sent with some colony fleets as escorts, phasing out the use of zentraedi cruisers. And/or Macross Class ships could have been used for high risk fleets, whether it be colony fleets or Zentraedi-interception (for use against hostile fleets, like Fleet of the Strongest Women). It would predate the New Macross Class, and be a reason to make New Macross Class vessels to improve on the first generation Macross Class. I just think it somewhat unlikely that the original SDF-1 Macross, the heart of Earth's planetary defense, would be sent off for a space mission. Possible under exigent circumstances, yes. Just, unlikely. We thought that the VF-1 was the first variable fighter for the longest time, and all the literature and canon stuff affirmed it. Then we get Macross Zero and discover the existence of the VF-0 and SV-51. We also see the Cheyenne destroid, Monster w/claw, and early ghost fighters. All things that didn't exist until Macross Zero came about and was incorporated into the Macross chronology. Episode 13 might show us that there were other Macross Class vessels that looked like the Macross. We wouldn't exactly notice a size difference if they look the same and we don't have the original to compare it with side by side. Just because at this moment in time we don't have information to support the existence of other Macross Class vessels, doesn't mean the possibility should be dismissed. As for the Enterprise example I gave in the episode 12 thread, if there are other Macross Class vessels, the original Macross would be the most famous. Just like other variable fighters are called "valkyries", it wouldn't be too far fetched to call a Macross Class vessel "Macross", especially if they have the same naming scheme (ex. Macross 5, Macross 7). Hopefully episode 13 will bring resolution to our questions. It could be the original Macross. It could be a Macross from another reality (hello Super Dimension Century Orguss!). It could be a big movie prop (I think unlikely). It could be some kind of hologram created by aliens to communicate to Alto and Ranka. It could be swamp gas... If it is SDF-1 Macross the original, not from another reality or universe, then if Macross VFX2 is canon in the chronology of the universe, the Macross would have had to have left Earth sometime during the end of or after 2051 (assuming that it didn't leave earlier with a replacement standing in for it). Heh, wouldn't it be funny if it's the original SDF Macross?... From the Macross II alternate universe... (I forgot how it ended, but I remember it being bad for the Macross) edit in response to comikaze who posted before I was finished writing this post: It would make as much sense to build Macross Class vessels as it would to build New Macross Class vessels. Frigates and carriers are good and all, but it's nice to have something with some major punch. Plus there can be only so many zentraedi battlecruisers left after Space War I, especially if they were being use to escort colony fleets.

Lets put it like this, a lot of people know what the USS Enterprise looks like in Star Strek. If you came across the same type of ship as the Enterprise (without seeing the name on it), what's the first thought going to be when you think about what to call this ship? You're going to call it the Enterprise. While it's never been stated that there have been Macross class ships built to accompany the Megaroad colony fleets, it hasn't been stated that none were built. Macross Zero gave us the VF-0, which we never knew about before. It could very well be that Macross Frontier will give us Macross class ships based upon the original Macross. We'll just have to wait and see. -

Nice, but the intakes should be black, not red. The red makes it look funky. -
When the hell did Basara get ahold of the Macross?!

Oh hell no, I'm not spending more time on Diablo. It's fun for a bit and gets old fast. Beat the first, got bored with the second.

Then at the end of episode 13 we get another bombshell dropped on us. Alto and Ranka go onto the bridge of the SDF-1 Macross and find a passed out Ishtar laying next to Hikaru, Misa, and Minmay, who are laying next to Shin Kudo and Sara Nome. Then Kawamori appears on the bridge, pulls off his mask to reveal Shaymamamalan who breaks the fourth wall, grins and says: "WHAT A TWIST!" Seriously though, wouldn't that be another WTF if Ishtar appeared in this series?

I love the VF-14, and hate the VF-9. The VF-14 looks like it's a descendant of the VF-4, let the VF-4 come first.

Just to emphasize. The WTF-1 we see at the end of episode 12 cannot be the Megaroad-01. As a cruiser the forward section that would make up the macross cannon on the SDF-1 is fused together and hollow. It's see through and likely contains the civilian population of the colony. -

Maybe the VF-25 has different hardpoints that it can mount the gunpod on? We've established it can mount it on the legs now at least in battroid. Since Mihail's gunpod is a sniper gunpod, maybe it mounts in a different location anyway, or uses more than one point to mount it. Good catch grss1982! edit- or maybe they just screwed up in animating it that way. It wouldn't be the first animation screw up. -

Now that you mention it, I wonder if Marge was a clone of Max that had some "issues" (as in totally bat-$h1t insane). I mean I could imagine Max looking like that under the character designer of Macross Plus, and he had the same voice (as it was the same seiyuu that does Max's voice)... The Macross does look like it's been there for quite a while with all the growth and stuff on it. WTF.
