Macross Frontier Episode 17 Talkback Thread *READ 1st Post*
Sumdumgai replied to azrael's topic in Movies and TV Series
Holy crap this episode had me gripping my seat screaming at my screen. -
There's been quite a bit of "Bandai is going to make it awesome, they have a history of making awesomely complex transformable toys, forget their past history with macross because now is now and go with what they've done recently. And people who don't think it will turn out well are Yamato fanboys." There has been a fair share of "Bandai has a history of not giving a crap about Macross in the past, I don't know how this is going to turn out." With the current price point, these 1/60 VF-25s aren't what I would consider to be priced for kids. I know what we've seen have been prototypes, but they've looked wonky and out of proportion. With as much experience as Bandai is supposed to have with transforming toys, I'm disappointed with what they've shown. I love some of the stuff Bandai puts out, and know they are capable of putting out top notch toys. What they've shown looks like a step above the old Yamato 1/72 valkyries, but not quite as good as the version-1 1/60VF-1.
-
I'm waiting to see the final product, but the prototypes haven't been encouraging. Improvements have been made, but they still feel really off in proportions and somewhat chunky.

That's only if Bandai were to make a Koenig Monster that's better than the Yamato one...

Macross Frontier Mecha/Technology Thread II *Read 1st Post*

The headlaser on the VF-0 didn't seem to be very effective on the SV-51 when Shin shot Nora's SV-51 multiple times while trying to fight her off while protecting the APHOS head. Looked like it didn't have any effect at all. The headlasers on the VF-1 seemed effective enough. Mr. March summed it up well in why it seems that the headlasers are effective as anti-mecha on later model valkyries. -
Happy Birthday, badass gifts and cake! That's awesome!

Star Trek movie official site, head to downloads to see the posters/bgs that make up the starfleet badge and shows Chris Pine as young Kirk, Zachary Quinto as young Spock, Zoe Saldana as young Uhura, and Eric Bana as Nero. Nero looks interesting. Looks like someone chewed up his ear. Addition: here's the four posters put together, taken from trekmovie.com.

I've got most of the Saints that I want, there are a few more MUST HAVES. In particular: Surplice Capricorn Shura, Ophiucus Shaina, Chameleon June, and maybe Eagle Marine. Now if there were Lost Canvas style figures released, I would NEED to get a Capricorn El Cid, Cancer Manigold, and Pisces Albafica.

Temjin didn't have enough screen time, but I think he would have made a great villain had he not been (probably) killed for certain by the dimension eater, assuming he survived the being shot down and having the Q-rea stabbed in the crotch. Oh yeah, and I hated those damned twin protodevlin at the end of M7. Horrible laughs.

Best Hero pilot of all the macross series?
Sumdumgai replied to sucker4meltrans's topic in Movies and TV Series
I voted for Isamu Dyson. Fighting renegade zentraedi was a walk in the park, while his squadmates were having difficulties. The untameable YF-19 that inured/killed the seven previous pilots turned out to not only not be dangerously uncontrollable by Isamu, but he wound up pushing it to the limits of its specs. Isamu has had a damned good share of luck in having survived his accident (OVA's gunpod incident or movie's VF-11 crash), and the orbital descent to Earth while being shot at by the satellite defense grid. 1) Isamu 2) Alto 3) Shin 4) Gamlin 5) Hikaru Hikaru has skill, but he's been caught off guard way too many times and been downed or screwed up his valkyrie. Wound up in the hospital from being shot down how many times? (seriously I can't remember and I'm too lazy to look it up). Gamlin is a good pilot, but he had trouble with pulling off a certain high-g maneuver until a particular episode of M7. He's had far less trouble in piloting than Hikaru has had. Kicks ass with the beam gun attachment, and can shoot to disable pretty damned good. Shin was an ace fighter pilot, and was shaping up to be a good variable fighter pilot. I think that had he had more time to get experience piloting a valkyrie he would have become an ace pilot like Roy or Max. As it is he was able to work his way up to fighting pretty evenly with Nora, who had a skill level that I would consider to be way above Hikaru even at the end of SDF Macross. Alto has a lot of skill and recklessness. In my eyes he's shaping up to be one of the best hero pilots in the series. He's lost a leg on one, lost one to a vajra, and has had another one damaged multiple times (wing, head unit). Unlike Hikaru, or Isamu, he has yet to wind up in the hospital from an incident regarding piloting a valkyrie. He keeps getting better, has a lot of luck, and has been through some pretty hairy battles. -
Yamato 1/60 VF-11b under development
Sumdumgai replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Well in the case of the old leaked fake YF-19 w/FP picture, Yamato got pissed at Graham. Someone "not Graham" posted it, and itt wasn't real, but Yamato still cut contact with Graham over it. I mean, yeah, if it's a scan from a Japanese magazine no problem. But, I'd just be careful about anything else due to that YF-19 w/FP incident. addition: Yeah, to ruskiiVFaussie's next post. Legit resources that would have gotten Yamato's approval. Sneak peak pics from cons always wind up all over the place. I figure that as long as a number of Japanese toy/figure review/news sites are reporting on it with pics of the VF-11 then it should be good to post. -
Macross Frontier Plot Theories...

Sheryl Nome is a vampire replicant with convenient amnesia that prevents her from remembering her vampiric moments. Now that she stopped taking Grace's pills that kept her bloodlust in check, Sheryl has been in a state of dissociative fugue and hasn't been drinking the blood she should, thus her state of near collapse. But soon, she will have to feed to sustain her replicant body... Or not. -

Looks like "call up Monster Girl" or "call up Monster God". I think it's girl. Ozma must be pissed off about the nose art and the lack of the bottom part of Ranka's bikini... -
Yamato 1/60 VF-11b under development
Sumdumgai replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Gah! I thought you found a picture to post or something. Now other people shall come look for the same thing. Believe me, if I hear or read anything new that isn't on this board, I'll post it as long as it won't compromise Graham's relationship with Yamato. -
If you live more inland and away from the coast, the smog can get pretty bad (burning eyes, irritated lungs, depending on how sensitive you are). The area by Pasadena can get pretty bad. You know it's bad when you can't see the mountains due to smog.

I hope Leon comes to an unpleasant end. Seems that Brera has amnesia, but has enough underlying memories that he's unconsciously protective of Ranka, and doesn't approve of Alto-hime (and this is under the belief that Brera was Ranka's brother or a brother-like figure back on the 117th fleet). -
A vote of broken with no explanation isn't really worth much. Lets get some descriptions of these breakages!
-
Best bet is to wait and see. Instantly declaring that the line has had a VF-0 rate of failure because of a few well publicized cases of breakage is going a bit to extremes. If over time there is an outbreak of broken parts, then I'll start screaming with the rest of you. Addition: Oh crap, I noticed that it has that stupid peg system from the 1/48 for where the legs go into the nose area for battroid. I thought it was going to have it be like the VF-0. Looks like I'll be needing tweezers for when I get the eventual VF-1A DYRL Max.

Maybe we'll see catwoman in the next movie as an ally that's not exactly a goody-two-shoes, but not a villain either.

And to think a few episodes ago some people thought the idea of a Macross Class vessel that wasn't the Macross was crazy. I know what you mean about Nanase, MisaForever. I guess she's too wrapped up in her little world of Ranka worship. I have a feeling she will eventually make some Pineapple Salad for Alto for "good luck" and to show "no hard feelings" about him possibly pursuing Ranka... -
Looking at the evolution of Bandai's VF-25 prototype toy, I don't think that Yamato is in any danger of being pushed out of the SDF Macross game. I noticed that neck/body part in the picture too. I'll have to see it in battroid in different poses at different angles to decide if it's something that'll bother the living crap out of me or if it's something I can ignore.
