Dear god wtf happened to DYRL Max's leg? I guess he took a fall getting out of his valk? May be a genius in a valkyrie, but out of it, he's out of his element and clumsy as hell...

FFIV and FFVI would be awesome to do as a cg movie like FFAC. But, I can't see them doing it. I so thought that Sephiroth was going to go and own EVERYONE when he sprouted that one wing. Such a dissapointment that he went poof and the whiny kadaj came back. I thought it was BS that Tifa got beaten down by whatever the hell his name is.

Maybe Snake's health isn't doing so good because of Foxdie. I didn't play through MGS2 so I don't know if they covered any of the stuff about it from MGS. MGS3 is an awesome game with great graphics, but man MGS4 looks incredible! S*** I don't want to have to buy another game system...

Everything was more or less fine with me, except as Radd said, it should have been another half an hour. The final confontation scene was the most anticlimactic confrontation I've seen. The ending felt too rushed. Damn I love the music from that movie though. Yoko Kanno and Hajime Mizoguchi rocks! I'm glad I didn't watch the movie on TV. The TV series was horribly butchered. Like Bobe-patt I saw it at AX00. I sat in line for something like 5 hours at the front of the line for the first showing. Kazuki Akane came in and talked about the movie, telling us we were the first group to watch it, internationally (they hadn't even showed it in Japan yet). I liked all the redesigned characters except Merle, because she looked too chunky, and she had funky hair. Van, Folken, Allen, and Dilandau's character designs were outstanding in my opinion. Way better than the TV series designs.

Yeah I had that feeling that the new stuff is crap and the old stuff was great. But I stopped and reflected. In the early 90s when stuff just started to be more available, there were some good titles out there and everything was so awesome because I had no frame of reference other than cartoons. Dominion and New Dominion Tank Police was so awesome because it was completely unlike any police story I had ever seen before. Ranma 1/2 took martial arts and fantasy off in a completely different direction. And so forth and so forth. Now that I've watched a buttload of anime, I have other shows that I can refer to for determining quality. Escaflowne the movie, Cowboy Bebop the movie, Saint Seiya Hades Arc, Jin-roh, and Macross DYRL are my points of reference for high quality animation. For character design Cowboy Bebop, Golden Boy, Escaflowne the movie, Macross DYRL, Orguss 02, and Record of Lodoss War OVA. For music, most anime with music by Yoko Kanno and Hajime Mizoguchi (Escaflowne, Macross Plus, and Jon-roh), and Kenji Kawai (Patlabor the movie). I don't watch everything that comes out, so I can't make a judgement on if the quality of anime is really going down the crapper or not. But then again I didn't watch everything that was coming out in the 80s either.

Saint Seiya Hades Arc Sequal Confirmed
Sumdumgai replied to Sumdumgai's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Could you post a link to that page? Because the complete anime cast isn't supposed to be announced until the 18th of this month. Are you sure that isn't for the radio drama? Because the radio drama has a different cast list from the anime. So far only Seiya and Shun's seiyuu have been announced. -
It's because of untrained people who go looking through criteria for diagnosing personality disorders, that treatment is so difficult for real professionally trained psychologists. Besides psychoanalysis hasn't been scientifically proven to work. It's outdated crap, unless you want to learn what caused your problems (rather than actually treating them). Hell you can't even deal with psychotics. Not with traditional psychoanalysis annyway. Prequal trilogy rocks. Floods suck.

Saint Seiya Hades Arc Sequal Confirmed
Sumdumgai replied to Sumdumgai's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Other than the info supplied on that page I have no idea. I first heard about it from the Saint Seiya doujinshi booths at comic market, but couldn't confirm anything until recently. If I get any more info, I'll post it in this thread. I'm just hoping none of the rest of the cast got replaced. Radamanthys already had a good seiyuu (Koyasu Takehito). Saga/Kannon's seiyuu rocked. -
Saint Seiya Hades Arc Sequal Confirmed
Sumdumgai replied to Sumdumgai's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I'm guessing that Seiya was replaced by this new guy, because the new guy did the voice of one of the characters in Kurumada's pet anime Ring ni Kakero. I think he also does the voice of the main character in Bleach. Other than Kurumada pulling strings, I'll hazard a guess on money issues. Maybe some of the Seiyuus wanted too much money. Unless Seiya and Shun's seiyuus retired and we haven't heard about it (like Milo's original seiyuu who did Captain Harlock's voice, as well as Hiko Seijuro in RK). -
Uhhh... wow.

Because people and their lives are cheap. It's the whole "it won't happen to me" mindset. They put their priorities on more immediate things, rather than hypothetical things. It took how long for predictions of NO being flooded to come true? Quite a few years, and each year it didn't happen, so people thought "it's all good, it's just a hypothesis. There's no real danger." What is really bugging me is the animosity a lot of black and non-black people are showing towards the situation. There's calls of racism because of a slow response. I've from travelling that the only country I've been to that there isn't this animosity from blacks towards whites (and whites that are super-PC) is Brasil. There isn't a big chip on everyone's shoulder, ready to blow up over perceived racism. The black people there are really secure about themselves and their heritage. Hell they had a magazine called "ni**er" magazine, to celebrate and be proud of their culture! (left out some letters, so no one jumps down my throat). I just can't believe that there's such racial animosity in people who are in this crisis. I was reading in an article how some black people thought that the government flooded the black areas of the city to keep white homes from being flooded!

Saint Seiya Hades Arc Sequal Confirmed
Sumdumgai replied to Sumdumgai's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Well actually it's more on the toys, although we started to get off-topic... -
Okay guys the Saint Seiya Hades Arc sequal has been confirmed. They're continuing with the series with a brand new OVA. Bad news though. Seiya fans cry your eyes out, his seiyuu has been replaced. Shun's seiyuu has been replaced as well. Kurumada's website with the news in English: http://www5e.biglobe.ne.jp/~saint/e-kinkiyou2005b.htm Ergh. I hope the rest of the cast doesn't get replaced.

I can see things before they happen. Okay this is how it's going to go. They're going to plug up the levees at strategic points to stop the water from flowing into the city. They'll make holes in areas where the city water is higher than the lake water. Check. Then when that's good, they'll plus up all the holes in the levee. Check Then they'll use the pumps to drain the rest of the water into the lake. Where it will overflow the levee, because no one is paying attention to where the water is being drained to. The levee started to overflow, someone notices and panics, proceeding to knock themselves out when they run into a wall. Levee breaks in new and old locations, city gets reflooded. Seriously, JBO is right. They should rebuild somewhere else. Name it New Orleans 2 or something, and build it in a better location. Screw the levees and the flooded city. Leave it. They'll spend more money trying to protect and rebuild the city over and over, than if they moved to a better spot. It's like building those walls of sand to protect your sand castle in the area where the tide comes in, the waves always win. Why fight nature and live in a place that was meant to be filled with water? Either that or they should make New Orleans an underwater city with a big clear dome over it (not unlike M7's city section). Then again, terrorists would hit that. Too tempting.

You don't know how right you are... By the way, heres the picture of a couple of NO buses that could have saved lives if they were used for evacuation. ( but Bush sent minions to slash all their tires.) http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/0...flpc21109012015 325646[/snapback] Holy s***, no kidding! And I'm rather disgusted with all the passing the blame on everyone else with no one accepting responsability for anything. I've been feeling more and more disgusted with the situation with all the looting, murders, rapes, and attacks on evacuees and supply trucks. NO is showing a lot of the worst of its people, and it's not pretty. That people are offering rooms in their homes to help house evacuees is admirable, but considering what kind of people forced their way onto those buses... The people that fought their way onto the buses, the armed looters that escaped on buses. It's a wonderful gesture on the families' parts, but I don't think they've taken into account the kind of danger they are putting themselves in.

Junior high school was a crapfest of everyone jumping on my back for liking anime. Until Sailor Moon came out. Then whenever someone bothered me, all I had to say was "you watch sailor moon girly-boy" (and I used to get all sorts of flak for having long hair), so that shut everyone up. In high school, I was the anime guru for the gaming club and everyone who got pulled into anime would come to me asking for good titles since they already knew I had been watching anime for years. Hell, I helped introduce Rurouni Kenshin to my high school a long time before it got licensed. Anyone who gave us crap, I had them thrown out of the room (I was in charge of the "bouncers", meaning I was the head of a group of guys that would throw out trouble makers.). During college and university I hung out with friends that liked anime, or flung monkey-poo back at anyone that tossed it my way. When you point out stuff about Kimba the White Lion and the Lion King, and Disney's stance, you get a whole bunch of hurt denials, when you're being confronted by a hypocrite that loves Disney. Heh greatest moment I wasn't actually involved in was when a big trouble maker came into the gaming club. He knocked over a large trashcan full of trash, insulted everyone, started calling us all fags for watching anime and started shoving people trying to start a fight. One of the bouncers got fed up with him and tossed his backpack down a flight of stairs. The guy rushes out, comes back and starts getting in everyone's face. The same bouncer gets pissed when he gets shoved, grabs the guys backpack again and throws it over the railing to let it fall in a trashcan on ground level. Then after finishing that with the guy hitting him the entire time, he grabs the guy and throws him down the stairs (not all the way down, the guy just rolled to a platform a few feet away since it was a semi-winding flight of stairs). It wasn't the smartest thing to do since it could have gotten the gaming club shut down, and he could have really hurt the jerk. Even though everyone felt it was justified, I had to kick the guy out of the club and his position as bouncer. It felt good seeing that jerk roll down the stairs, because he was always causing trouble. He was fine by the way, just some scrapes, and a really really bruised ego. After that incident though, the trouble makers that would bother us about anime stayed clear.

Although it's getting political and this thread will probably be locked, I think deathHammer has a point, as un-pc as it may be. But thank god some people don't conform and have the guts to point out an ugly truth. Let's keep this civil and maybe this thread will stay open. Keep up the insulting and we'll see the mods go ape-s*** with their ninja powers! Everyone will die except for me, you know why? Because I had my tray table up, and my seat back in it's full upright position! In Alllllllllbuquerque~ There's a guy on rebelscum forums who's auctioning off a ANH Luke Elite Edition lightsaber, and supposedly all the money will go to the red cross for aiding Hurrican Katrina victims. If the guy is serious, then he's a great guy.

I may be heavily into some anime, but I won't watch just anything. I hated the anime club at my high school. The high quality shows they showed were Dragon Ball Z dubbed in spanish of chinese, and that's about it. When they tried to show Ghost in the Shell so they would see some titties, the club got shut down. And they all took themselves as the most serious hardcore otaku in existence, the baddest things to walk the earth. Good god, I've seen otaku in Japan. It's really really scary. It's really really bad. I'm really picky about what I watch, period. Not just anime. I've been rather dissapointed of everything in general as of late. Other than ROTS, and ROTK, the movies lately haven't been all that memorable to me. Most anime titles I just roll my eyes and stop watching after an episode (if not in the middle of it). Count me in as a member.

But Alpha had Dan the man! The Capcom parody of Ryo, Robert, and Yuri from Art of Fighting/KOF. Speaks like Yuri ("yoyushi!"), acts like Ryo, looks like Robert, and fights like a mix of the three. Plus he pulled his taunt off on Vega! And tossed out his dinky gadouken! I wish I still had Alpha just for that scene alone! ...... ehhhh, but I don't and I'm not dishing out the money to get a new dvd because the second episode looked like butt, and went no-where.

It was great to read the article about a bunch of cops that survived by hanging onto a big bush in front of their station when the flood waters tried to wash them away. Everyone from that station survived, which is good news to my ears. They plan to keep the bush as a memorial. Lucky thing they didn't chop it down, like they had been considering!

I looked back at the pics and again I almost peed myself. *note to self: do not look at the pics of the 1/60 VF-0 on a full bladder. I crave more pictures! Need to see other modes!

Okay I saw the news here in France a little while ago. Please tell me, because I could not find anything confirming this on CNN.com. Did Bush say that the US would not accept any foreign aid? Because that's what the French news is reporting, and after seeing how the French report stuff, I'm wondering if they made it up or what (the journalists here like to insert their own political views into things, and aren't afraid to omit or make up info). But actually seeing video footage is just a blow to the gut. Up till now I've only seen pictures, actually seeing footage of the destruction is just overwhelming. I don't personally know anyone out there, but man it just boggles my mind that a large city (my point of reference is Los Angeles, San Francisco, Paris, and Tokyo) could be 80% underwater, with smaller surrounding cities completely wiped out. I'm really surprised that martial law hasn't been declared too. What has me rather annoyed though, is that there's all these large groups of people with no one taking charge and organizing things. People are complaining about dead bodies being left to rot, but come on! If someone dies, don't just leave them in the middle of the superdome or in the middle of the road scattered all over! Organize groups to carry the dead out to a particular area, and after a certain amount, you burn the bodies to reduce risks of epidemics and to make sure you're not sleeping amongst decaying corpses. And if you can't burn the bodies, at least make sure that the bodies get piled up away from the living areas. Things are worse than they could be, because there's such disorganization. I gotta say that if this kind of thing happened in Japan, there would be a lot less deaths and problems. Those people are so damned organized and rule abiding I wouldn't have beleived it if I hadn't seen it for myself. If something like this happened in Paris, the city and everyone in it would be dead within a week. If the flood and collapsing buildings doesn't kill everyone, than the anarchy would. I won't go into the details why because that would get political.

At first I didn't spare Hurrican Katrina news a glance, because I just saw it as "oh another hurricane, everything will be fine". Then I saw a BIG headline on CNN.com, and I started reading through all the articles. Holy s***. Looters and gangs that attack the evacuees should be shot, with intent to kill. Seriously, people shooting at the helicopters sent to evacuate? Ambulances turned over for looting? They stole a generator from a hospital. [shakes head] Those are examples of the worst of humanity. It's great that there are so many people that do help out though (like you and your old dept.). The news here in France is way behind. My wife got in an argument with her brother, because when she told him how 80% of NO is underwater, he was like "no way, the news said that the city was barely flooded, and that only one levee was breached". I'm waiting to watch the news at this very moment to see how they're reporting it on French TV. It's good hearing that some MW members are safe and survived. I hope we didn't lose anyone.

I got into anime with Dominion Tank Police, Ranma 1/2, and Akira. Then Macross Plus and other manga video releases pulled me in deeper (waaaaay back when Manga video first started up). Robotech didn't introduce me to anime, I avoided robotech when I was a kid because the title of the show sounded retarded. Then I watched a bit after having been exposed to M+, because I found out that was the only way to watch part of Macross. I read those horrible Jack Mckinney books to get an idea of the season 1 storyline, since tapes of robotech weren't easily available. I hate hackjobs. Robotech is one big hackjob. I have a hatred for HG, and robotech. Even if HG weren't a bunch of ********************* I would still hate robotech. I was lucky enough to get an uncensored version of Macross DYRL, dubbed on VHS. It had those funky voice actors I knew so well from all of my Dad's dubbed kung-fu flicks (like Challenge of the Ninja!). Although the dubbers sounded like they hadn't gotten the intonations down well, I still liked them better than the robotech dub. Robotech may have gotten some people into anime and Macross, but it's still a horrid hack-job. Story-wise, content-wise, and music-wise (the music part is arguable on personal preference). I'm not making a judgement on the new Robotech series, but I don't have a good feeling about it.

Konci? Don't go to Red Sun Anime by Montparnasse, everything is insanely overpriced (ex: 1/48 VF-1A Hikaru was €300 back when they were still in production).
