Hrmm, am I missing something? It does not look like a VF-1J at all.....

1/3000 SDF-1 lightly weathered vs. 1/2000 SDF-1 customized

Awesome workmanship, I wish I had the skills to make my 1/3000 look 1/2 as good as yours- 48 replies

- SDF-1
- The Macross
- (and 5 more)

I also have the Kaneda's bike and the Kaneda figure, but I did vote SDF-1. It was a tossup for me though as I do like the build of the bike, and the fact it blows the doors off of the Mcfarland version I also have. Congrats Kirik, I love this toy!

Wonder why they used the black stand to prop it up in batteroid mode?
-
Thanks for being such a stand up guy Carlos, we really appreciate the support!
-
Wow, I would get it if you can. This toy is hot.
-
Did you also have an issue with the stands?
-
Yeah, I don't know exactly how or why I lost paint but I did. On my other DYRL Skull squad there was just a bit of clear looking residue, but my roy lost paint I think I will buy another VF-1S roy for the display and either try to patch up the other or just leave it and make it my desk valk.

Wow, this thread rose from the dead I only own the olive drab versions of both toys. I would love to have a phalanx and a spartan. If Yamato is really concerned, maybe they should just make them exclusives. At least then the people that really want them can order them.

I saw this video on youtube and did not bother to hit the site directly. Can you say ballsy? for putting that on a flexi display lol. The though crossed my mind, but I'd rather not test it out. I still have not gotten to fitting the bits on yet. Still thinking if I want to do any customizations first.
-
Yeah I totally disassembled that section and put it back together. I am still wondering if a bit of glue would not cure it. When I rotate the gap opens up sometimes. I thought about sanding a bit of the plastic away, but am worried it would make it loose. I would also buy a TV version if became available. I just hope it will be a little while, seems Yamato is getting a couple thousand a year from me

I just went through the same thing, in my lighting it looked like it was die-cast Anyways, I am very impressed with this toy so far. The only problem I have it is the elbow joint that has the screw in it. I noticed it had a huge gap near the magnetic rotation part that connect to the ARMD. When I rotate the arm I have to be careful, because the part gets a gap that I have to push together. I have not gotten to adding all the bits yet, as I have been playing with the thing more that anything.

LOL, yeah I just found that tab a few minutes ago, thanks anyways
-
Just got mine today I am having a problem getting the body to rotate in the mid section. I pulled the legs down, then tried to rotate the center section but there is not a enough clearance for it. I must be doing something wrong. I was watching Graham's video while transforming it.

I am pretty sure he is in Canada, hence the Location:Go Leafs Go! (hockey town)

Awesome job man, I like this.
-
I think you would be ok with Gamlin, I only had problems on the parts that have paint apps.
-
Yeah I think your right. I think it must have been said when only Gamlin was released.

I'm suprised that Yamato has not released a 2045 version of Milia's VF-1J, all they would have to do is change all of the white lines to black except the chest stripe. They would also have to change the blue stripe on the leg to black also. I am not 100% sure on this, but I thought I have read that Yamato only has rights to dynamite 7. Could someone Please shed more light on this for me? Graham maybe? Oh, forgot to also mention the Milia VF-11B Mac 7 scheme also. I would really like to know how many Mac 7 valks I will be buying lol. Anyways back on topic. I personally don't mind the Milia VF-22S tone of red, but I do think that it was presented in a deeper shade of red than Yamato used. I am also curious to see what the final shade will be.

No problem, just trying to help. It's kinda funny though when I think about it. They could technically try to milk the mold if they make a version for Macross Plus lol.
-
It took off the paint
-
The Macross Plus version is technically the "Macross Plus Version" If you look at images you can see that the shades of color are slightly different. The chest on the Macross Plus version has some red coloring, where as the DYRL version seems not to. The shades of gray look a bit different to me also. Check out these pics: Image 1: DYRL SDF-1 Macross Image 2: Macross Plus SDF-1 Macross " The SDF-1 appears virtually unchanged after the 2012 refit, but appears to have a slightly altered color possibly due to the need for upgrades to the hull as age requires the old hull to be replaced. The SDF-1 Macross also has been refitted with newer anti-ship and anti-fighter weapons and groups of rotating cannon emplacements are found all across the hull." DYRL Source:http://www.macross2....across-dyrl.htm Macross Plus Source:http://www.macross2....across-plus.htm I think they are different, although the same ship.

Don't worry hutch, they took my payment today I had to order on New Years Eve. I had ordered it from another vendor and it showed in stock, but then the next morning I happen to go back to the page and it said it was in pre order status. I got worried, so I mailed them. Turns out he did not get the amount they had on order. I got a refund and placed the order on HLJ. So basically I have $400 bucks floating until it hits my bank. I knew I should have ordered back when it was on pre order, but decided to wait for the review.
