It's seeing awesome outstanding work like this that makes me embarrassed to post my pathetic results!
-
Yes, I've had experience with Yahoo Japan auctions, living in Japan after all. It's real tough to shop if you're not Japanese (or in Japan), though. That's why I recommend Celga.
-
Contact Celga, I'm sure they'll be glad to help. It's been about 8-10 years since I've used them, but I never had any troubles when I did.
-
There's one available for auction now. Starting price ¥25,000. Buy It Now for ¥30,000.

Actually, I didn't think it was all that bad. I was working on Bandai's VF-25F before this, but I got so angry at how crappy that kit was I boxed it back up and threw on the shelf in disgust. This kit was pretty refreshing, to be frustrated for a real reason! I only broke my cutter knife once, too.

1/72 scale VF-17D Nightmare. Soft vinyl/plastic kit from Wave. Primed by Mr. Surfacer, painted by Mr Color, so that shoots the myth I heard many years ago that you can only use acrylic to paint vinyl kits to hell and gone. This came as either an S or a D. I choose D, because I think the head on the S looks just too damn goofy. Also, if anyone doesn't catch the reference to my thread title, damn I'm getting old!

Just found this Tomahawk diorama while searching Yahoo Japan auctions. One day left, and right now the price is only ¥8250.
-
Technically, it looks nice, but I agree with most everyone else that I'll wait for a nicely detailed, fixed pose 1/72 scale.
-
Some folks don't waste any time in getting new kits built. Must be nice to not have a backlog...... Only a snip at ¥20,000, too.
-
How about a Super/Strike Eggplane? Also, looks like a movie version 1/48 VF-1 A and S is coming out in November
-
What, no love for the Dwarf? Well, I always liked this guy better

If you see something interesting on Yahoo Japan Auctions, you can still try and get it through a proxy service. I've used Celga in the past, and liked them. I don't know if they've changed much, but when I used them (about 8-9 years ago) you give them the URL of the auction you're interested in, and the maximum amount you're willing to bid (in yen). Send them a deposit after they say OK, then just sit back and wait. Don't win the auction, they'll either ask if there's another one you'd like to try, or they'll refund you.

I need to get through about 10 kits before I can start on the 1/48, that's what gives for me.

hasegawa 1/72 strike battroid (roy) can anyone post a full built kit?
Jefuemon replied to JET7's topic in Model kits
Is a regular Roy battroid inspiration enough? Haven't gotten around to building my strike yet, and I'm doing it as Hikaru's from the final scene of the movie. -
Just keep searching, you may get lucky. I managed to snag an original Musashiya VF-4 from a Hong Kong hobby shop a few years back. I sadly can't remember exactly where it was, though. Have you ever checked out the Macross kit auctions on Yahoo Japan Auctions? You might find something rare there, too.
-
To those interested here ya go. Pictures of the box, and parts. Looks like Hobby Search already has a scan of the instruction posted, so I didn't bother with any of that.
-
Picked mine up today. Yes, the Tenjin artwork on the box is worth it! Well, I think the kit is worth it,too. Try posting a few photos tomorrow (it's bedtime here now).
-
Almost feel embarrassed to post my work here now, but oh well. Pretty much a straight up, no frills build. Base coat by Mr. Color, wash & weather by Tamiya enamel. Also played around with my new photo-dome studio. Maybe someday I'll upgrade my camera from the 8 year old Fuji digital I'm using now.
-
Damn, and they're only charging ¥11,000 for that kit. Have to keep my eye on Yahoo Japan auctions here soon.

VF-1 Valkyrie (Egg Plane) (HOBBY SHOW Pre-order)
Jefuemon replied to eyesonme78's topic in Model kits
I picked mine up yesterday. It comes with decals for Hikaru's, Kakizaki's, and Max's VF-1A from the movie, and VF-1J decals. Looks like it's going to be a fun, easy little kit to make; and yes, I'm probably picking up 2 more to get the complete set. -
Hobby Search and HLJ are now showing an availability of around August, but the Wave homepage still says around the end of June. Guess when I go to my local hobby shop this Saturday and reserve I'll know for sure.

All are 1/35 scale Bandai kits. Built Alphonse about 8-9 years ago, finished up Unit 2 and the Special Control Vehicle last month. Bandai really dropped the ball by not releasing a 1/35 Helldiver. Think of the diorama possibilities!! I know I was......
-
Opps, my mistake. Couldn't remember who made it (I built it about 8 years ago), and I misread the katakana in this auction. Easy thing to do.
-
I was wondering if the scale on these two kits of mine was correct. Both are 1/72 scale. The Glaug is an old Imai kit, the Valk is Hasegawa. My thought is that the Gluag should be a little bigger. They make a nice companion piece, anyways.

Robotech Changers, that's what it was! Thanks. Now it won't be bugging me anymore.
