  1. Very nice! It's kind of funny, but I have yet to see a "cannon-colored" Tomahawk show up here. Mine is fourth in my build order, and I'm planning on tackling a Vietnam War era Tiger stripe cammo job.
  2. I scanned it out of the back of of This Is Animation Special:Macross Plus. Lots of good alternate squadron marking to be had in that book! Problem is, my one attempt at making a custom decal sucked horribly, so I had to print that onto a mailing label, and hope for the best. If anyone is interested in the image I used, let me know, and I'll post it here. AND, if anyone is interested in doing a guy a favor, I may have some decal work, if I provide the scans.
  3. It all started when I saw this illustration in "This is Animation Special:Macross Plus". It looked so cool, I just had to build it. At first, I was going to build the 1/48 as it, but I didn't have the correct scale of UN Air Force markings (and my one try at making custom decals was a disaster). So I grabbed the Hasegawa VF-1A Super Battroid I had, and used that instead. I was kind of fun figuring out the fighter cammo pattern as a battroid. The Regult in the target scope I also got from TIAS:MP. Done on a mailing label The kit came with a J head as well, so when I get bored I can switch it out.
  4. Fresh out of the box. I kind of love these moments.
  5. My hobby shop just called me, it's in stock. Stopping by tomorrow after work.
  6. Stopped off at my hobby shop on Wednesday to reserve one. Let y'all know when they call.
  7. Sometimes, non-cannon is the way to go original Musashiya kit, or else I'd seriously be thinking about picking up one of these.
  8. Guess it's time to hit the hobby shop after work on Monday the 20th. Sometimes, I really like living in Japan!
  9. Right now, there's 2 of them up for bids on Yahoo Japan Auctions.
  10. Actually, I'm making a non-cannon A/J (the A head is there between the chest piece and the J head). I'm just gonna swap out the heads when I get bored with one of them. I kind of want to keep it a surprise, but if you've got "This Is Animation Special:Macross Plus", the one I'm building is in the end part. That's the only clue I'm giving!
  11. Up to bat Warming up on deck Waiting on the bench Why yes, I have been watching NPB lately (Go Fighters!). Why do you ask? And, apropos of nothing, RAINBOWS, plus the only 2 Gundam kits I've ever built
  12. If you're used to building Hasegawa's Macross line, they suck. If you're used to building Gunpla, then they're fair to good. I myself got so disgusted with my VF-25F that I reboxed it and threw it back on the shelf at around 75% completion. I only finished it because my wife was kind enough to get me a Tornado Messiah for Christmas, so I had to at least finish one of them. Personally, for me, parts didn't fit well together, in fighter mode it looks like crap with big gaps and sagging parts, and the first time I tried to transform my kit the neck part snapped off. I still have an Armored Messiah, and a Lucifer waiting to be built, and waiting is what they're going to do. EDIT: If you haven't already seen it, mine is here.
  13. It's not on my workbench anymore (well, at least from last weekend), but this is as good as place as any to share. Fine Molds 1/72 scale Y-Wing. Got to take a break from Macross once and a while.
  14. I honestly hadn't planned on finishing this kit. I started it in September/October, and got so disgusted with it 75% of the way through, I boxed it up and threw it back on the shelf. However, my wife is nice enough to feed my habit, and she bought me the Tornado Messiah for Christmas, so I had to make the effort to finish at least this one. I just basically phoned it in on completing it. One of those kits where you just say "yeah, I finished it. Let's never discuss it again," I'm really hoping that a couple of years down the line, Hasegawa or Wave can acquire the rights to Frontier, and we can finally get some decent kits from that series.
  15. Reams have already been written about the shortcomings of this kit, I'll try not to add to it. Just let the pics speak for themselves. Got sick of the bad fit of the shoulder area, so I crammed the pieces together as best I could, and glued it into fighter mode for good. Which doesn't really matter too much, since the neck piece broke first time I tried to transform it. I stole the flight stand from my unbuilt VF-25S Armored, because the more I looked at the original landing gear, the more I hated them.
  16. Good job on the build, looks nice! What do you use for your "photo studio"? Here's what I've got for my set-up I switch between a Fuji FinePix F70EXR and an older FinePix 2800Zoom for cameras. I'd like to get a DSLR, but can't really justify the price for just model photo taking. Do you use any photo editing software? I downloaded Photoscape, and like it. It's kind of bare-bones, but easy to use, does what I want it too, and it's free! Photoscape from cnet downloads.
  17. Very cool! I'm planning on doing mine in a cammo pattern as well, once I get around to building it. I'm thinking of trying Vietnam War era tiger stripe cammo, but we'll have to wait and see how well I can pull that off.
  18. Amazon.com Japan has some preview pics up, if anyone is interested.
  19. About freaking time. Remember when someone had posted the link to "Request Hasegawa's next kit" a while back? I'd like to think my vote made a little difference. Here's to hoping that Hase can acquire the Macross Frontier license in the near future, as well.
  20. Since I've got over 5000 songs on my music player, it'd just be easier to show the file folders I've got.
  21. Thanks for the comments! Of course, good photography covers up any model mistakes..... Not that I'm all that good at photography, either! Here's a couple of WIP shots of Hikaru The side control panels are really lumpy, so even with Mr.'s Mark Softer and Setter, the decals never lay down quite right. However, when you get the cockpit assembled, any poor fit is hidden well enough.
  22. Yeah, I broke my own rule about not building a new kit before I finish my old ones, but this was just too pretty to sit boxed up for 2 years or so. I also have the 1/48 scale VF-1S, but I'm afraid that one will have to wait a bit.
  23. Miria's Queadluun-Rau (Club M 1/72 scale) calls for Mr. Color #68-Monza Red (Red Madder)
  24. Oh Rick, you're such a dirty boy! (have to say that in the original dub Minmay voice) But you clean up real nice Pro Modeler's Wash. Buy it, use it, love it. Hopefully, in a couple of weeks, I'll be posting the finished product.
  25. There's also an RVF-171 available, too. Please note that the prices listed on these auctions are double the price they were offered for at Wonderfest.
