Got this as a recommended from Amazon today. Anyone know anything about it? At less than ¥1000, it might be worth picking up anyway, but really not needed if it's got the same info as the Chronicle. Thanks.

Looks pretty good. Now, are you gonna build that VF-1A??

Worst Science Fiction Film of All Time II: The Quickening
Jefuemon replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Mortal Kombat 2. I'll go on record in saying I enjoyed MK1. As far as video game adaptations go, it was pretty good. Part 2 just sucked so bad, though. I remember the ad campaign, and all the cool characters they showed who were going to be in it. Oh, they were all there-for about 3 minutes at a time, and for no real reason at all. It's been the only movie I've seen in theaters that I almost walked out on (thinking back on it, I really should have).- 854 replies

You can buy this one for ¥30,000 Daeudulus attack, is the same price

I thought that one was equal parts awesome and gruesome. If you look closely at the closeup shot of the cockpit, you can see Kakizaki only has half of his left arm.

Just found this one. Mid-death!

Awesomeすぎる~!!! Original for comparison

Google image search for "Macross Ace", thanks to a suggestion from the Short Q&A thread.

The masses have spoken! Well, at least five of you. I'll go ahead and use the whole cockpit display decal, to give the "on" appearance. Thanks for your input!

Yep. And, I've been searching Google for other builds for inspiration/tips/etc, and there are none to be found. The only one I've seen was a Tamago plane.

Also, I think I'm one of the 10 people in the world who is a Facebook hold-out. I think someone in the group can speak English (saw they had a Deviant Art page). Would someone who has FB mind commenting on their work, and directing them back to here?

OK, so my goal is to make one of these: First step is easy. Head to Studio Starforge and buy one of their lovely 1/72 pilot sets. Very minor cleanup to do. I just needed to cut back the collar a bit. Next, get yourself some putty. This is the first time I've ever done something like this, so I'm using Wave epoxy putty, cheapest they had. Cut off the putty in equal amounts, and mix well. Make sure you wear gloves! Cut off the putty bits you need, form into shape, and attach. I found out that using a toothpick is pretty good, as the putty doesn't seem to want to stick to wood. Hmmm, looks like I mixed up a little too much. Oh well, better to have more than not enough! Now, just to let it dry, do some gentle sanding, and paint away. EDIT:Apologies for the blurry close-ups. Wasn't using my good camera.

The VF-1 Riders. I've seen a lot of their work on the net, and it's pretty phenomenal. But does anyone know more about them? How many members, where are they located, how can you join? Even if you don't know, click the link and enjoy their work.

Thing is, I would do it to as high a quality as the animation inspiring it. You know, no putty or sanding, big, intentional brush strokes, no masking for painting multiple colors...

Ever since I found out about Space Gundam V (through this site), I've had a silly thought of getting one of the old Bandai VF-1J kits and making the (non)venerable Space Gundam V mech. Someone beat me to it.

And definitely beyond my skill level. I'd say 97% of any model I've built with electronic components never worked (lights, motors, etc.) My Perfect Grade Zaku eye even failed to light. Guess me and electricity don't mix.

So, I'm getting ready to build a 1/72 Hasegawa VF-1J. I'm going to be building it with the canopy open. So, if I want to be "real world" here, should I use the decal for the main display panel so that it looks like the Valk is powered up, or should I leave the screen black, making it look like it's powered down? Thanks for your input! EDIT: I should mention that this will not be part of a diorama or display. I'm only going to have (hopefully-if my modification works out) a pilot figure standing next to it.

Yes. It's a laser-cut wood deck from KA Models.. If you're doing a ship, I think using one of these is the #1 way to make a slick looking model when you're finished.
