I also picked up a set of this to go with my SDF-1 kit. It was originally released for use with the 1/3000 Yamato assembly kit.

If you're talking about the Hasegawa version, see the link Exo posted. If you're talking about the Yellow Sub version, this sucker is ancient! However, there are still a few floating around, and with the upcoming Hasegawa release, the price will probably plummet on the resin kits. I picked up a bunch of Club M/Yellow Sub 1/72 VF-1 kits for around 3000 yen (they retailed at around 19,000 originally I believe) thanks to Hasegawa.

1/4000 scale DYRL SDF-1, from Yellow Submarine. Plan to start building it, so of course Hasegawa has to go and announce that they're making one!

Yes. For those that don't know, the parts that hold the arms, and the pegs that hold the legs are made out of some material that's a step up from poly-caps in solidness, but no where near the solidity of plastic. Also, glue doesn't affect it at all, and you need a little for the arm assembly to fit right.

I warn you now- it can be a royal pain. Poor fit on some parts, questionable use of materials on Bandai's part, and just general wonkiness. Honestly, if it wasn't a present, I wouldn't have built it. But, you gotta do the best you can sometimes.

Well, between bad painting weather, being sick, and my growing disdain for all things Bandai Macross transformable, this spent WAAAAAY too long on my bench. However, finally finished it. Yes, it does go into fighter mode; however, it's so poorly designed that it's actually resting on the arm armor, not the landing gear. There's no way to properly tuck the arms up high enough. Also, they use some type of soft crappy plastic for arm and leg attachment points. Good luck changing positions or modes without a litany of curses.

Bandai 1/72 Macross Frontier transformable model kits.. what they like
Jefuemon replied to spanner's topic in Model kits
But that's just my opinion. If you're an experienced builder, you'll hate them. Beginner, you'll probably like them. I got so fed up with mine that I boxed it up halfway, and threw it back on the shelf for another year. Finally finished it, then trashed it when I completed my Hasegawa VF-25S. -
Should probably move this part of the discussion over to the Star Wars Merchandise thread, since it's not about building basics anymore.

Sorry, all you see is all I had. I plan on participating next year, though, so definitely more and better quality pics then.

I'm rolling in resin now. The VF-X kits I picked up though akim. I've now got the whole launch arm set. The Gigamesh I picked up on Yahoo Japan auctions for a stupidly low price. -
Unfortunately, Hasegawa hasn't done a VF-27 Lucifer yet, only the Bandai POS.

If anyone is around JR Meguro Station, East exit on Saturday around 3 PM, you can say hi to me while I'm waiting to see Galmet. EDIT: Actually, I'll be waiting outside of here.

If it's just missing panel lines, then get yourself a scribing tool and etch them back. I'm always losing line detail due to putty/sanding, and I've got something that looks like a dental pick to put them back when I'm finished. Also, I can help you get Hasegawa parts, instead of springing for a whole new kit.

Yes, it's official.
