I'd prefer a powered up screen, but if the pilot stands outside the valk I guess the display panel should be black.

It will. As far as I can tell the F variant that has been recently shown is nothing more than a S with all the white stripes painted on top of the yellow ones + a painted 3D printed head.

Regardig the toys: VF-25F. In universe: I much prefer the classicness of the VF-25.
