It really surprises me >EXO< that you say the height of the toy standing up would be 31.5cm. Haven’t you assembled yours yet? According to http://www.yamato-toys.com/items/detail.php?gid=1756 this toy is 45cm high. If that’s correct, despite the Maccross shows not being very accurate regarding size proportions, I think that Yamato’s done a good job at designing a consistent 1/60 Regult (perfectly capable of fitting an Anime magic 1/60 Zentradi contortionist soldier with small feet) and that IMHO http://www.macross2.net/m3/sdfmacross/reguld.htm isn’t very consistent regarding what the actual size should be. As it’s has already been discussed in other posts and here as well, Zentradis are normaly shorter than the VF-1s and Zentradi pods taller. I know this is not really obvious in the anime but it does make sense to me.

Muchas gracias Ignacio for your advice, by doing what you say everything works just right. It’s a great toy indeed. The only problem now is that when transforming back into fighter mode, getting the fuselage covers to line up flat is a pain in the arse, though I can make it look good enough. It seems to be due to the same problem Chronocidal pointed out somewhere in this post, as on my YF-21 the belly plates just would never sit correctly if the rear tabs were correctly inserted into the undersides of the engines. That’s because the upper engine plate (the one that slides) is not level. If you look at it from the rear, you notice the upper flat surfaces of the engine nacelles both lean inwards. Because of this, the engines are actually rotated a little, and the end result is that the places where those tabs on the belly plates go are higher than they should be. The belly plates mesh together fine if you don't insert those tabs under the engines, but putting them in correctly makes the plates bend from being forced against the legs.

First of all, as Eugimon & David have just said the torso is supposed to be short and stumpy and in that regard this new VF-19Kai is a great improvement over all its precursors, including the Yamato 1/60 YF-19 itself. From my point of view that’s just perfect. Regarding the leg missiles, it´s true that they are not present in the current YF-19, but to be fair, there weren’t much of such kind of gimmicks back in 2006 when it was first released. So personally I’m most thankful that Yamato keeps designing toys which are more and more detailed and plenty of new gimmicks I’ll really enjoy –mostly considering how much we pay for them. And I may be wrong, but I’ve never seen the VF-19Kai Fire sweeping its wings backward, nor in the show nor in the line art. The only reason I’d consider that feature of any interest would be for a future V.2 upgrade of the YF-19.

Even though now that Yamato is releasing the VF-19Fire and after all the VF-22s I’d prefer to have a VF-17 first, every time I see the VF-4 I know this is the one I want to have next. It´s not that we’ve seen a lot of it accomplishing epic quests, but as it’s the fighter that accompanied my most beloved characters to the unknown, I always feel like I want some more of it. Good find UN Spacy.

Greeeeaaaat toy!!! I know comparisons are something hideous to do, but look at the much nicer proportions of the new Yamato VF-19 Fire compared to his 1/100 Bandai Hi-Metal counterpart… What a shame that the new photo isn’t very detailed; there are so many great features on this toy we can’t see…

Yeah, it seems to me that the semi-gloss textured finish is already kind of a © for Yamato.

It does look great!

I just got the YF-21 from the HLJ sale. It’s a gorgeous design! Unfortunately my toy isn’t completely flaw free. The landing gears are a bit floppy and the wing joints aren’t very tight but nothing really serious, really. On the other side the canopy doesn’t stay open at all and the chest plate doesn’t lock…

Thank you ff95gj & Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 for your very clear concepts. It’s pretty clear that the cost of our beloved toys will depend on the relationship between the baseline cost (molds, assembly, packaging and to a lesser extent materials) and the total expected production. So very intricately and detailed toys addressed to a limited fan base will necessary mean higher prices. And sadly, it´s not that the Yen is too high, it´s the dollar that is so weak…!!!

Hey! Nice job! How did you do the weathering? I may also try to do so...

The pink colour doesn’t speak very well about Alto Hime’s sexuality… Unless it finally brings some light to that! Anyway, to me it looks pretty much like some kind of weird cross breeding between a VF-25 and a Vajra. -
I don't like it either...

I´m in with the YF-21 and a few Macross display stands (HLJ's "Our Price")to be able to better display all my Yammies in fighter mode...

Thanks for the information, MacrossJunkie! I agree with anime52k8 but I kind of like how the legs look like though, they seem to be so alien!

Hi, guys! I was just having a look on the old posts… It’s true that this toy looks aggressive and menacing; does anybody know which version is it?
-
It looks like there will be a lot of really nice details on this toy! I’d being working on a Blazer colour scheme but Vic Mancini has already made a very good job with it. So just let me share with you all a more detailed version of my previous Kai prototype.

Yes, I think Graham said 2Q of 2011.

I agree with that, I'd prefer all the stuff in a stand.
