Yeah, I know what you mean… IMO, this fairly new to phenomena to Macross stuff of decorating the planes like this may be influenced by other shows and intended to the new generation of Japanese fans that are sometimes more interested in the characters than in the planes… Despite they’re not my cup of tea I have to admit they do look good.

Really nice pictures, Mommar! This is a sexy bird indeed!

If it's like the YF-29 at all, nearly nothing...

Strike A Pose! V.4 - The Macross Mech Pose Thread

I’m glad you’re so happy with a toys line that if it was so good you shouldn’t need to be so careful with… It’s funny to see that after stating you’re a Yamato stand hater for not to include a YF-21 battroid mode adaptor you strongly advice to any interested person in buying a Tamashii stand to be extra sure the seller includes the battroid attachments, as Bandai didn't release them with the first wave! Anyway, if it’s of any help to you, remember that as I mentioned at the Yamato 1/60 VF-22S Thread I was able to customize the battroid mode adaptor very easily by simply adding to it the connection part of one of those that come in a bag with the Yamato arm. Here you are some pics: -
So how can we get this colours? This is a limited production of only 300 sets! http://www.yamato-toys.com/items/detail.php?gid=1917 http://www.yamato-to...l?infolnk=index

Really nice work, Lolicon! Thanks for sharing!

It wouldn't be a problem had they included some strong neodymium magnets inside the wings… it would be sad not to be able to load missiles on the wings AGAIN!

Yes, also medium-telephoto lens vs. (simulated) wide-angle lens . They convinced me. Preordered.
-
I'm not worried about that, I think it's a matter of perspective. Normally, pictures of this kind are taken with normal to medium telephoto lenses to avoid perspective distortion. From what I can see I think the V.2 VF-25 picture was taken with a medium telephoto lens and looks right in terms of proportion. On the other side, he line art image of the VF-25 we are use to is a computer generated one showed as if taken with a wide-angle lens to increase some kind of striking effect. However, the result of using a wide-angle lens is a greater apparent perspective distortion when –as in this case- the camera is not aligned perpendicularly to the subject.

Have Bandai improved? Yes, they have. I think they have improved in anime accuracy and overall quality IMO. Prices have “improved” as well, though not for us.
-
Yeah, that's true but it's not what I meant. It's not about fragility, materials quality, decals or swappable landing gears, etc. but about the overall proportions and anime accuracy of the valks in all three modes, and I think most of us believe the 1/72 models got it better than the V.1 DXs.

I think they are guns. At the end of the day, the YF-29 is a VF-25 with built in fast-tornado pack, so the extra guns do make sense to me -

Sorry guys, going out of topic… One could say there's some logic in an alien spacecraft not having earth-styled wheels because, well, it's alien. Nevertheless, that wouldn't be the case either, it still looks very earth-styled: -
Bloody hell! That looks so accurate! I guess people will start losing interest in Yamato taking the Frontier franchise… I always wondered why Bandai didn't make it right from the beginning –as they did with the 1/72- considering they always had de very accurate CG designs…

Yamato 1/60 VF-19 Fire Valkyrie (v2.0)

Yamato's site announces the Sound Booster is on its way! The pictures are the ones we've already seen but with greater detail thanks to the PhotoZoomer. It's the painted prototype; I'd love to see how the actual toy will look like. The site mentions the sound booster's been carefully designed in order to not to collapse when attached to the VF-19 in battroid mode, a Basara figure in his stage costume and a replacement piece for attachment to fighter mode, all supervised by Mr. Shoji Kawamori. Source: http://www.yamato-to...il.php?gid=1914 It's also mentioned at Yamato's blog that the Sound Booster will be present at WF. Source: http://www.yamato-to...x.php?logid=331 -

I've completely disassembled my VF-25 to pieces for modifications and retooling and I can guarantee that both the VF-25 (V.2) and YF29 will share lots of common parts. I mean all the most important stuff is already there. All the problems around proportions, articulations and transformation have been addressed. All the inner mechanisms would be the same. The whole nosecone area would be practically the same, including the cockpit, the pilot, the landing gear and crotch area; it's just to take off the canards. The chest area in battroid mode would retain everything but the upper plate with the clear bits. Only the shoulder plate should be changed from the arms and the guns removed from the lower arms. The hands and the neck would be the same. The head, the back plate top half and the wings would be new but that's easy. The legs would just need to be provided with a new gun panel at the thigh and lower leg panel with the fins; they will attach high enough: they're currently one click down at the thigh and up at the knee to let room for the gun nacelles –like the VF-1's legs with fast pack. Only the outer plate of the shield would need to be changed. Overall, I think at least 65% of the VF-25 is already at the YF-29. I bought mine at AmiAm. Unfortunately, according to them the country where I'm currently living doesn't accept SAL parcels this size so they sent it as EMS. You wouldn't believe how much I paid for it, I'll just say I could've easily bought a VF-1 for that money!
