Another example of plastic pieces spontaneously exploding after been untouched for years… While we could think it’s Yamato’s fault for having chosen the wrong kind of plastic we could also say they shouldn’t be completely blamed for a decision that shows its effects only a few years after. I only hope they’ve learnt the lesson and are currently using better quality plastic. And I also hope there is a v.3 sooner or later, the later being for the 20th anniversary of the OVA

Avoid the YF-19 for now, go for the VF-19 you like the most first.

Yamato 1/60 VF-17 Nightmare Diamond Force
Reïvaj replied to charger69's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
IMO the difference is fairly obvious, but I did say it could just be an effect caused by the forced perspective of the CAD though. Also the cockpit looks flatter than in the prototype. -
If Yamato decided to make something else like the VF-4 or the VF-2SS that’d be great news, but to answer the topic question I’d say hell, yes, I do want an YF-19 v.3. The reason? Quite simple: I don’t own the v.2 for I’ve never been very fond of the toy’s design and since Yamato has been revising some of their designs over time I just decided to wait for the v.3. I believe time has proven me right: v.2 has been a problematic toy that hasn’t aged well, we now know the new standards settled by the VF-19 and Graham has told us to be patient and I trust him

Yamato 1/60 VF-17 Nightmare Diamond Force

I agree. There’s something I’ve noticed as well: the nose cone in fighter mode seems to be longer than in previous CADs and the only grainy pic of the prototype we’ve seen before, though it’s possibly only due to the forced perspective of the drawing. It’s not that I don’t like it but it makes it look closer to a VF-171… -
I tend to transform all my toys at least once a month. As you can imagine they are not so many. As they rest on shelves in my living room, I keep looking at them all the time and the temptation is high

So what do you think guys about the new CAD? Now we can see colours, head sculpt, general proportions... The fighter mode does look nice, doesn't it? Source: http://blog.yahoo.com/cybergundam/articles/49953/index -

What I’ve noticed is that it looks like all the breaks have happened to toys that have been left in one single mode without being transformed for years, so my theory is it’s not about bad plastic but about loneliness. They’re not faulty toys, they’re sad toys I’d give nothing but love to a V.2 YF-19

Interesting. Is the dust from back around 2008/2009 as well or is it newer?

What about a VF-4?

What kind of argument is that? Even if you think Isamu piloted a fighter that didn’t lock together because prototypes just don’t –something I haven’t been able to notice in the film nor in the OVA- many people and I myself would love to have a better designed updated toy that doesn’t fall apart when we zoom it around. And Yamato can and know how to do this so we want it.

I'd use it just on the upper surfaces and a lighter plain grey underneath.

Wow, amazing!!!

Bandai DX Chogokin YF-29 Durandal Valkyrie
Reïvaj replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Mine is just slightly floppier, nothing really serious yet and I hope it doesn’t worsen… I won’t try to tighten the joints yet. -
Look at the differences between the prototype VF-X-4 (SDF Macross) and the mass produced VF-4 (Flashback 2012): Source: http://www.macross2.net/m3/m3.html
