Just got my Escacflowne... Apparently, the man behind the counter failed to inform me that the $55 price quote was in AMERICAN dollars. Oh well. The Comic Book Shoppe is retailing Escaflowne for $80. Still a good price, considering that if I ordered it from an online site, I would have to pay shipping, customs, and currency exchange.

I doubt it. It's more of a specialty item than a mass produced toy intended for mass consumption.
-
Personally I think it's a steal too. I also hope that the employee didn't make a mistake on when he looked up the price...

I'll be getting mine on Wed at the Comic Book Shoppe on Bank Street in Ottawa for $55. Anybody who lives in Ottawa, you might want to show up early on Wed to get your figure. Personally, I think $55 Canadian is a downright steal. FYI, if you're wondering why I'm abreviating Wed, it's because I can't spell the word for the life of me.

Best way to do remove the putty from the seams is to remove the putty before it has dried. After you apply the putty to the seam, use the very tip of a new exacto kife to scrape the un-dried putty out of the seam. Works very well for me.

Is kevlar really that flexible? Especially at the required thickness? Well... Two threads at 2 mm thick is enough to support a fairly heavy human (at least 200 + Lbs). Not to mention it can be woven into multiple layers to form a bullet resistant (note I don't mean proof) vest. It's feasible that you could make it out of kevlar. I've never seen anything made of kevlar, that's why I was asking how pliable the material would be at that thickness. Does it feel like a tougher version of nylon or what? So a 2mm thick wove can support a person? Not bad. No... I meant two 2 mm thick THREADS can support a person. Although, I wouldn't try this over a skyscraper...

Hmm... I thought the strap could be made out of kevlar. Super strong and will be able to resist bullets!

Just got mine today... A full 2 weeks earlier than expected. Some initial thoughts: 1) Transformation is easier than it seems, which is a nice bonus. 2) Paint chipping should be minimal as there really isn't any major parts sraping against each other. It's big, looks cool, and it's worth every Yen! I might even get a North American version too...

I think its so that the toy survives shipping. If you notice, in addition to the tie-wraps, there's lots of dead space (Space with no purpose, other than to inflate the shipping price) around the toy, so that the package can be damaged, but the toy will survive without a scratch. As to my solution, it's a steady hand, wire snips, and an exacto knife. After about 2-3 minutes at the most, the toy is free.

Ooo... Those puny wire ties are no match for the wire cutters blessed by Crom himself!

I picked this set up about a year ago for my birthday. I still usually watch it about once a month. It gets even funnier as you watch other anime... Plus the commentary is excellent... Even if the comic that's included on the disk isn't.

The hydraulics are responsible for moving the control surfaces on a plane. They used to be directly connected to the flight stick via wires and pulleys, but with the advent of jet fighters, it was increasingly difficult to control a plane in that fashion. Basically, when you loose your hydraulics, you can't steer the plane any more (unless, that is, one of your backups is still working). -
I too picked up an APU today, and you know what? My left arm was broken too in the exact same fashion. I'll be going back tomorrow to Wal-Mart to replace it. Wish me luck...

They didn't have to cover up the intakes because the engines aren't visible from the intakes. In order to make any fighter more stealthy, you have to hide the high reflection fanblades of a jet engine.
-
The red buttplugs are so that you can't see what the interior of the engine looks like. I think it's because they don't want David Hingtgen to put his camera up the tailpipe of the F/A-22.

You lucky man you. Well... I did have him on pre-order since he could be pre-ordered, which is about 2 months... Oh, my bank account is going to kill me...
-
Nevermind! He's in payment processing! WHOO HOO! Hopefully he'll get here by the end of the year.

I'm 22... I guess that makes me on the lower end of the scale. I love my Valks and I'm pretty sure they love me!

I remember this movie. I loved it. Best line ever: *Following lines will vary* Grunt 1: Sir we're about to crash into the planet! What do we do? Guy with the eyepiece: *eyepiece moves into position over eye*... We die. Great movie, even if it has it's cheese, the lines more than make up for it.

The one packaged in Battroid mode is the original VF-11, weak hips and all. It does not come with the FAST packs, but the FAST packs can be attached to it. The VF-11 that comes in fighter mode is the recently re-released version with FAST packs. The hips on this one are rock solid (knock on wood).

Dunno... Even Hasbro doesn't seem sure that the stacks will be shortened... I hope they don't, but it doesn't matter to me as I'm getting the Takara version... But I'm a Canadian Transformer Fan... Does that mean I like my transformers cheap and plasticy? Heck no, I want my diecast. I want my transformers to have weight to them!
-
The US versions are not supposed to have the same die-cast content as the Japanese versions. If diecast is needed for weight (say for balance) then it might stay in the toy, but that's about it. The second link you've provided basically comfirms it. Can't wait for my Masterpiece Optimus Prime. My wallet is going to kill me...

I've had my VF-11 since October. Transformed dozens of times, and there are no visible stress marks on the hips. I think Yamato fixed the problem. Besides, if it does ever break, it's an easy fix. What I'm more worried about breaking are those shoulder tabs that the shoulder locks on to (they're on the chest in Battroid mode), they look pretty small, and they're probably fragile. Again it shouldn't be too hard to fix if they break anyways...
