Two questions: 1) Is it legal? 2) Is it a Joke? However, if I could bid on a plane, I'd bid on a Sea Flanker or a WW2 prop plane.
-
I'll assume you're talking about the Hasegawa kit. I'm not sure of its rarity, however, it shouldn't be too hard to find, but I'm very sure about it's transformation: It doesn't. At least, not without some serious modifications.
-
It's probably some sort of built in copy protection, and there are probably ways around it.

Got my Sideswipe today. Nice car mode, and nice bot mode. However, as David pointed out, the instructions are badly flawed, and several important bits (like folding the steering wheel) are missing. Japanese instructions can be found (thankfully) at http://www.bwtf.com under the Binaltech link. I might just consider the alternate transformation that people have put forth... -
Thanks! That will do for now!

Thanks for the support. I'll be letting you know when I start. It'll probably be in late march as I'll be able to use my airbrush again (because right now, I can only airbrush in the garage and it's way to cold out...). Can't wait for the reference pictures. I've got some good black and whites from MAHQ, and I'll definately need to mod the legs (somehow). I might just get away with some cutting and sheet styrene...

I'll show what I can. However, I won't be starting this Q-Rau for at least a month. I need to at least figure out how to go about modifying the legs to make them movie version legs. The antenna won't be a problem, but the legs... Well, that's what dirt cheap models are for aren't they?
-
Ok, so I snagged my Q-Rau that was briefly available on HLJ, and now I'm wondering exactly what to do with it. There's no cockpit to speak of, plastic on plastic joints, and the plastic is moulded in a lime green colour. Surface detail is there, but sparse, and it looks like it will be a simple build. However I don't think I'll be going with a stock Green, grey, black Q-Rau. I might consider doing a Max Q-Rau (a la DYRL?), But I'm going to need some pictures of all the brief 2 frames it is in. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Actually, it's the more enemies you see the more sanity you loose. To keep your sanity (or to regain it) you have to finish off your enemies. Don't forget a gameboy player. Shouldn't be too much, and it will allow you to play every gameboy and gameboy advance game out there, all with the benefit of a nice, well lit, screen. Some games I reccomend: Both Rogue Squadron games Metroid Prime (and fusion if you want to unlock the secrets on the MP disk) Zelda Skies of Arcadia (a Dreamcast game originally, but excellent nonetheless) Super Smash Brothers Melee That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

If you're looking for a nice cheap ww2 fighter model, look at Academy's offerings. Nice selection, and their 1:72 offerings are about $8-12 Canadian. They go together nicely, and while small (the actual plane isn't very big), they look great with a simple paint job.

Actually, it would be even easier to just graft on some chrome tubing onto the shortened stacks. That shouldn't be too hard either.
-
Now that, I didn't know. Thanks for the heads up Graham. So ignore the WD-40 in my above post...
-
Be very very careful with it. I purchased 2 Temjins that both had problems... I got lucky with a third temjin. The Kayaido toys, while great, have a tendency to break... What you could do to loosen it up is perhaps some sort of oil (like WD-40) to loosen it up. However, you may ruin the finish of the toy, so be careful...

If you don't have him already, get Battle Ravage. I picked him up yesterday, and aside from some psycho tight joints, he looks great. As for the binaltech/alternators... Hmm.... The corvette looks good, hound looks interesting... I might stick to the plastic versions as importing while cheap on shipping, is expensive... The plastic versions are retailing for about 30-40 bucks over here in Ottawa. -
Another G.com man here. While I too didn't like the fact that there were lots of kids there, I really liked the model section. Always good for a tip or three.
-
The ideal way of displaying it would be in a bullet resistant glass case with a complex lock. Why bullet resistant? Because, sooner or later, your kid WILL discover power tools.
-
Looks like a Flanker Scheme (Su-27 I think...). Looks nice, although, the pose could use a bit of work, but that's just me.
-
Thanks for the heads up. I hope I manage to snag a Q-rau.
-
Hmm... Thanks for the heads up WM. I'll have to check and see if mine's piston driven, and if my moisture trap will trap oil... But, I haven't noticed oil in my paint so I don't think I have a problem. Naturally, if any problem will arise, it will rear its ugly head when I'm working on something that was difficult and time consuming...
-
It does stand in Battroid, but it's not very posible. You can get it to do a nice stand pose, and perhaps a shooting pose, but that's about it. If the hips were firmer, you could do some nice poses...
-
I'm not WM, but if noise isn't a big deal for you, go and get a compressor at your local hardware shop. Some teflon tape, a moisture trap, regulator, bits and pieces (adapters extenders), should run you about 130-150 Canadian. You don't have to get one of the hobby compressors, but the bonus with those is that you don't have too much noise when you're using it. I'm using a generic compressor for my airbrush (the same one as WM Cheng), and while it's not that loud, it's not quiet either. Check for a sale at the local hardware shop to save money too!

OT, but there's a lot of F-14 fans on this board
VF-19 replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Well, I'm not sure as to how much a tomcat goes for, but $35 million is fairly cheap for a top of the line fighter (if your number is correct). What most people like to do is maximize their purchase. If you can purchase more F-15s with a given amount of money over F-14s, then they will most likely buy the 15s. Oddly, though, Wouldn't having more 15s equal more money spent in maintenence, ordinance etc.. -
What's wrong with my Yamato, Bandai, etc.
VF-19 replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Possible? Yes. Likely? Not very. Give it a shot, as you may be able to get your parts. If you want to increase your chance of success you can order the part from a recently released/re-released 1:48, as the parts should be common to all of the various models of the VF-1 (albeit in different colours). You should explore the review for the 1:48th on the site, as there was a warning about the hinge... -
that is a steal considering the list Diamond price is $60 USD. i can get one for $65 cdn (edit - just saw your more recent posts..yeah that makes a heck of a lot more sense! ). i myself passed on it as i think it looks rather ugly and seems to be nothing more then joints and screws all over. if a toy fails to make me a drool on the first glance then i'm gonna have to pass given the tight fiscal times we live in. Guymelef mode looks pretty ok... Granted it is a transforming toy, and one that's very complex to do, so you're going to have weirdness in one mode or another. What I'm pleased about is that you can hold the sword in the dragon claw just like in the anime! It doesn't grip it very strongly, but it can hold it without the sword dropping out of the claw.
