Actually, that is exactly the subset of customer that will need to be motivated enough to buy this "repaint"....anyone who wanted one should have one by now.....the glut of available Kai's is due to either overproduction or just lack of interest......the point is you can find one in Japan if you are in the market for one and you will pay less than MSRP for it....so why would the average collector, you know, the collector who makes the argument that he/she is being "priced-out"...that Macross is becoming too expensive.....are they going to buy this re-issue now that it will certainly be way more expensive with the addition of the booster pack and 1/60 FB figurines set?.....unlikely Thus the only customers left are the hard core collector/completist.....and the regular collectors that never got one in the first place...either due to lack of interest or difficulty with justifying the price....if lack of interest...why get one now?....If price...well, I am pretty sure it will be way more expensive now....plus there are plenty of lower priced original releases to choose from..... I have a feeling this will be a very limited release...thus potentially making it a "hot" item....so Arcadia may be taking the Bandai route on this release...we'll have to see what happens.....It would not surprise me to see this release go either way.....hot collectible or another shelf-warmer......

If Arcadia would have bundled the sound bazooka with this upcoming release it would have forced my hand into buying one....so at least there is still some hope of the sound bazooka being released separately or perhaps as a webshop exclusive. I'm curious as to what sort of success the repaint Kai will have....I'm guessing the only way it can "sell-out" is if it is released in very low numbers.
-
Actually, I would prefer it in 1/60 scale to match the Yamato and Arcadia 1/60 Macross toys...maybe someday?
-
Don't want to muddle up the existing Episode 7 thread with non-official news...so starting this thread with interesting speculation found on the webs...or as a spot to post ideas anyone may have concerning the plot or anything else pertaining to the new Star Wars ST that is not official confirmed news... Since it is speculation....spoiler tags not required...however some of this stuff may actually come to pass....so viewer discretion is advised! So, anyway...found this....and it sounds very convincing.... http://www.starwars7news.com/2014/05/speculation-case-for-darth-plagueis-in.html?m=1

Whether in the "target Japanese market" or not...... Gold pimp accents and a 1/60 FB figurine set..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=apl7RhwMW0E
-
I asked....http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=41029&p=1118223 Perhaps if there are many sales at the current scale, other scales will be considered....
-
Well, considering that Bandai will most likely have the monopoly on the production of such merchandise for the next TV series, it's not hard to imagine that they will produce as many or as little as they see fit.......judging by their late entry/realization of demand for PT VFs, for a 7 year old show they hold sole license for, I think it's obvious they now know the demand for Macross transforming toys did not completely disappear and they'll probably be much quicker about releasing PT VFs for the new show....in whatever amounts they think the market can handle.....
-
Yes, of course they are more expensive...but as I pointed out...when a show sponsor like Bandai holds exclusive rights....with no one able to compete with them (currently and specifically to the argument: the MF PT VF license)...they would be foolish not to exploit the demand...But read Renato's post....it basically supports what I have been saying all along....the market for transforming Macross toys is not dead....Bandai realized it late....but they realized it nonetheless....so let's stop the illusion that any Macross TV show will ever not include all three pillars of Macross...especially transforming mecha...and especially now that we are seeing Bandai the giant awaken from such a long slumber and is now producing quality Macross toys that fans seem to actually want and purchase....don't think Bandai will want to stop that source of revenue and will certainly want to continue it on the coming new Macross TV show....
-
So I guess someone out there is buying enough transforming Macross mecha to force Bandai to give a "crap"....which is why that "pillar" of Macross is staying put no matter how many units of CDs outsell units of toys....
-
Huh? So Bandai is chagrined at being relegated to produce everything and anything related to their Macross licenses??? Why in the world would they not milk their license to produce anything, including PT VF's, to maximize total aggregated profits? When did Macross F air? 2008? And Bandai is still "begrudgingly" cranking out PT VF toys from that series....with no end in sight...well...until the VF toys from the new show come out I guess.....right?

What about the secondary market in Japan? Does that count? http://page9.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/k178083623 http://page10.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/m121193002 http://page9.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/k178083623 http://page18.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/w99447457 ..and some closed auctions....at MSRP or below it....... http://page17.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/v345619316 http://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/183836559 http://page8.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/h188249232 ..and I won't get started with Mandarake listings and sold VF-19 Kai's.....well, what the heck! http://ekizo.mandarake.co.jp/shop/en/item_s-738429.html http://ekizo.mandarake.co.jp/shop/en/item_s-1281291.html http://ekizo.mandarake.co.jp/shop/en/item_s-738428.html http://ekizo.mandarake.co.jp/shop/en/item_s-1409880.html http://ekizo.mandarake.co.jp/shop/en/item_s-738538.html http://ekizo.mandarake.co.jp/shop/en/item_s-1121389.html http://ekizo.mandarake.co.jp/shop/en/item_s-1152625.html http://ekizo.mandarake.co.jp/shop/en/item_s-1140640.html So I guess VF-19 Kai's are readily available even in Japan....... The point is that Japanese collectors will go through the same lengths that the rest of the world does when it comes to collecting this junk......they will comb the internet and any other source to get what they want......until it is all ravaged and the only stock left, if in extreme demand, is selling in the after-market at way higher than MSRP prices...... are there any VF-19 Kai's warming some Japanese brink and mortar shops or resale shops? Probably (well, yes, actually)....but I'm not going to fly the friendly skies just to prove it (use the internet Luke!)..... Are there any VF-4's doing the same?..........HECK NO!!!! And I do not need to go to Japan to feel pretty good about that assertion! BTW I like Macross 7!!!

No apologies required!!! .....as for "everyone" loving mecha.....heck if I know...but apparently, to the chagrin of Kawamori, his Macross TV show sponsors for the last 30 years sure do...
-
So then what is the point of making an argument for eliminating transforming mecha, or any of the other pillars from Macross??? It apparently, based on the past 30 years of Macross TV shows, is approached as a "package" by those funding it's development as a televised series...again, Kawamori is complaining about that....but to who...the fans? Impossible.....based on the argument that music is where it is at and all that is required.....He is complaining because the sponsors just do not want to risk their investment in making a Macross TV show that is too "different" from what they are used to sponsoring for the last 30 years....I am not making any of this stuff up....it is all based on actual observations of what has actually made it to the screen....unless there are some ultra secret Macross TV series that only some fans are aware of? Did that gritty Destroid pilot drama get animated and televised in Japan and everyone else in the world missed it???
-
It's really not that bold of a statement.....for 30 years...Macross animated productions have included the 3 pillars of Macross...transforming mecha, Music, and Love triangles......it's just as bold a statement as saying that Star Wars: Episode 7 will include aliens, lightsabres, and spaceships.... Like Episode 7, I have no clue what the background story for the next Macross TV show will be (I'm happy to wait and find out, but I also do like me some good old fashioned speculation!).....but I know what has a high probablility of making it onscreen based on what has come before it.....that is all I am saying...nothing more or less..... Read my post...it does not matter...sheesh!
-
That's a lot of Macross 7 valks warming the shelfs of HKC! I hope retailer feedback does not deter Arcadia (is that even taken into consideration?) into making a few more valks I'd like to see from that series.....namely some Varauta valks, the rest of FB....and the VF-5000 and VA-3...... I'd be interested in hearing the perspective of a retailer like HKC regarding toys in general that do not end up selling well....are they given a chance at corresponding with the manufacturer's in regards to suggestions or opinions on what they believe would sell or not sell well at market? Perhaps only feedback from the largest retailers weighs in on any product development?
-
Not progress....just change.... However, it is irrelevant....as the next TV show will include transforming mecha....unless you are suggesting it will not? So if the next TV show still includes all three Pillars of Macross....what exactly will be the point of saying that one of the pillars is responsible for more of Macross sales/profits than the others? The fact is all three are required to continue to generate any interest in a Macross TV show....especially from a sponsor's pov....there is 30 years of proof to back up that claim....it is what it is...
-
Nope...wrong again Gubaba....all I said was that eliminating the transforming mecha pillar would upset many long time fans especially when it comes to an amimated TV series... Let's face it, each of those "pillars" are dependent on the other, eliminate any one of them in a new animated series and someone is bound to get miffed.... That's why Kawamori was complaining...apparently there must be a lot of pushback from the major sponsors of his work, namely Bandai, when it comes to altering the 30 year formula of Macross animated works, regardless of what aspect of the show garners more sales....seems like it is an all or nothing requirement for a Macross TV show to receive financial sponsorship....I for one have no problem with that....he's always free to continue to "experiment" via other media....like "Musiculture" which hardly anyone on this board, the world...or even Japan has ever seen....
-
Well....there have been toys based on their appearances in video games...but a MtF line of toys seems remote... IMO...a MtF VF-1J or D would have been perfect candidates for a webshop or magazine exclusive....oh well...

A kid's book like others I have posted, but this one includes a 33 rpm "flexi" record...probably the spoken text in the book....have not played it yet, so no idea if the voice actors are the same as the TV show or if there are SFX sounds from the show.....someday I'll find out....
-
I'd buy one...I just don't think I can build it....an online group build...section by section...week by week...lead by a master kit builder would be very helpful with this kit...
-
So I'm wrong because I pointed out that it is logical for a 30 dollar CD to outsell a 200 dollar toy? You are pure genius...and I mean that in the nicest way!
