The pilot looks painted in DYRL style...VF-1J was under the armor in the movie....with that said....missile tips should be yellow... ***edit OK...looking at it on a bigger screen now...yeah...DYRL helmet painted in TV style...but body painted to look DYRL with the yellow shoulder pads???.... They should have just went all-out DYRL and painted the missile tips yellow and be done with it.... This just means they will still not bother with the doing proper TV style Max and Millia -1Js...TV pilots, armor, etc.....no biggie I guess...I'm more interested in the Regults and Destroids anyways!

VF-0 was designed 20 years after the VF-1?
-
If that is the case....and since you have to swap the missile bits....it would have been better to have supplied yellow-tipped missiles instead of the "empty" missile bay bits....those seem to me a waste of plastic....

Poster-ish.... Destroid Monster clear celluloid print....#S-4 (I think there were 4 total made)...by Yamakatsu (Toys, Fancy Goods, and Models ) Others include a VF-1J, Tomahawk, and Defender....anyone know if there were more than 4? KWR???

Those prototype colors are reminiscent of the VF-0 armor colors....hint?

Don't forget...at least Arcadia will provide you with a pic of what the GBP-1J should look like on the box!....

Macross II Banpresto Arcade poster - B1 size

So is this a DYRL version?....If so, shouldn't the missle tips be yellow? Top pic may be boxart?

We'll have to wait for Macross Chronicle V 5.0 to put this debate to rest!

It has grey googles when armored.... Takani agrees.... .....so does Tenjin.... ...so should you!!!
-
Perhaps it will be released as a modern version of the Takatoku Conversion Set....that way we get the Phalanx too!
-
If DarrinG had not pointed it out I would not have known about it...but yes, the price is very reasonable considering what original SDFM cels are going for these days...

Status: Legend! Status: Tease!

I hope so too....however, they currently seem unwilling to release even less risky stuff like a VF-1D...so not sure about a Spartan in 1/60.... And completing the set with a 1/60 Monster would probably only be the luxury of perhaps 5 collectors during some future WonderFestival.... I'll be happy with a full, in-scale complete set at 1/100 though.....hopefully the Monster doesn't turn into "legend".....
-
Excellent observation! You may have just caused the market price for the Takatoku conversion set to skyrocket! At last a Spartan and a Monster to go with the 1/100 Takatoku conversion set!.....the Spartan "mold" is actually reminiscent of the old 1/100 Takatoku destroid molds...as long as you have 3 Takatoku conversion sets you're good to go! Very interesting how Bandai settled on releasing the Spartan and Monster first.....I bet they have the mold for the Takatoku conversion set buried in some warehouse somewhere!!

Around $50 for the two character and $35 for the single character......so as you very well know, a fraction of the cost of an original production cel......very nice quality, but the choice in colors could have been tweaked a bit....the artist is very responsive and if I had cared to be more "involved" in the process...I'm sure the colors could have been more "on-screen" accurate....In short, a very well done hand-painted fancel....I'm satisfied with it and will probably commission some mech cels next.... As for the background....It is laser printed...I did not ask if she could hand paint one, but pretty sure she could if you wanted to go that far with it....money talks as they say!
