Yep....Bandai is doing the same thing....basically going with awesome illustrated boxart for the HMR line.....and they may be going the "diorama" boxart with the upcoming Monster, which was also employed for their original Hi-Metal releases of the mid-80's.... Actually, this whole retro packaging revival started with the Orguss Hi-Spec release from Mega House last year or so.... Note the box styling, colors and fonts from the original Takatoku release.... As a collector of old-school Macross....I really appreciate the added effort on packaging being done for some of these releases

Nice...the colors selected for the front and back of the box are a very obvious nod to the old school Takatoku boxes... Still want a 1/3000....but I guess stubby legs will do for now...

Seems the MISB stuff is fetching the highest prices (as is usual with most collectibles, with opened items usually selling for 20-35% less depending on condition)...but looks like at minimum you'll definitely get your money back even if it is not MISB. Never knew about this figure, but then again, I only collect Macross these days.

Wonder which new MII VF they would tackle next? Icarus or Metal Siren? Seems like sales of these must be doing well enough to have gotten this far. Wouldn't be surprised to also get the green -2SS. I would, however, be surprised to get the red and orange versions....hope they do release them!

If you are not a completist....the new HMR line will give you a good mix of several Macross mecha, including enemy mecha. If Bandai actually delivers on some of the items that they teased for the HMR line....you should be good to go. If you just collect DYRL mecha...the HM/HMR line is pretty close to releasing everything Yamato ever released....and then some!
