Nice...thanks for your bravery! So, no one owns a Yamato VF-0A that could pose it next to the Arcadia VF-0A? Or did I miss a post?

Vintage SDFM Macross PJs!!!!

LOL....wouldn't that be something! When were the last "Made in Japan" transforming Macross toys produced? I'm thinking not since the M7 1/65th scale valks! How about....
-
that is probably one of the good things about Arcadia, that they have released less product than Yamato which has given many collectors time in between to "catch 'em all".....unfortunately, it sounds that even that is not enough to combat the economic forces at play.... With that said, if they fold....I would say the first to go would be the remaining stock of YF-19's (at this point anything on auction as I am not sure there are any available at retail shops)...next would be the VF-0D, followed by the VF-0S, VF-0 Armor, VF-0A Shin, VF-0A standard.....If they release a VF-0S Armor combo....it would probably become in instant grail item.....
-
Well, not sure if we should panic just yet....but definitely start thinking about what may go first if that time comes!
-
No one, including Mr. K, is even touching the licensing topic/cost.....for all we know Bandai may have already executed Order 66 and pretty much grabbed all the Macross licenses that matter....except for the Macross Zero license, from which a sustainable toy line you cannot expect to survive long with..........
-
USD to JPY exchange rate was miserable when the last few VFs were released by Yamato.......so that did not help the "high" prices at the time and corresponding price grumblings.....it's funny how the Japanese collectors are now also whining about prices....welcome to the world of Macross collectors outside of Japan since 1983!

Mr. K's post is not really encouraging for the future of their company....at this point I am hoping Evolution Toy's VF-2SS is a successful product for them. Perhaps Evolution Toy's has access to better, more efficient manufacturing facilities.....at least they were not apologizing for their prices...instead were just blunt in stating the obvious..."you don't support the VF-2SS, we can't make more cool Macross stuff" It is what it is.... If Arcadia's end is near...hopefully Evolution Toy (or someone else) can fill the void for "ultra niche" Macross wares....
-
We may look back at some point and realize it was over for Arcadia after the VF-0D.......which essentially was the last of the Yamato legacy..... Anyone wanting valks not featured in "current" Macross shows will probably be at the mercy of Bandai's Hi-Metal R line......unless Bandai goes DX on us? Even if they do go forward with this prophesized DX legacy line of valks....will it include anything other than the classic VF-1 from SDFM and DYRL? I can't see Bandai releasing a DX VF-5000 toy from an almost 20+ year old show that is not as popular as SDFM/DYRL.....That was the niche served by Yamato and now Arcadia...however, it seems to be unsustainable, at least in the way that Arcadia is trying to make it work....I guess only time will tell.....if anything a new show will help keep a general interest in Macross alive...so there is at least a fool's hope...

"Why are Arcadia Products so Expensive?" by Mr. K
jvmacross replied to SCOOPUDA!'s topic in Collectors
Good point...the backlash on current pricing is real...as in a Japanese reality, as that is what Arcadia ultimately needs to be concerned with..... some KO companies can take advantage of this pricing backlash and can start replicating existing molds from either Yamato or Arcadia....but what is the market for KO products in Japan? Based purely on what I have seen listed in YJA, there really is not very much available on that site in terms of current or past Macross KO products.....very few MasterMade Makurosus and Fans MakeToys SD VF-1S's.... The US seems flooded with them, but are they really selling? Does anyone know if the MasterMade Makurosu was a "sales success"? The Fans make -1S doesn't seem to be successful.... I would like to see how successful a NON-SD VF toy would be coming from a 3rd Party.....if the quality would be as good as the takara KO's mentioned, then I think the average collector would not care that they are not "officially" licensed.....sadly, I think the "SD" non-licensed Macross toys killed it for the potential of some 3rd party making a NON-SD Macross toy....hopefully not..... I am also looking forward to how well (or not) the VF-2SS does from Evolution Toys..... Of course, we could also be on the verge of Bandai, once again, being the only game in town...in terms of PT VFs....which, based on what I have seen from Bandai, wouldn't be all that bad....beats not having anything at all..... -
No mention of licensing costs and their affect on total cost... Also...did he insinuate SV-51's are coming? If so....they really need to get him out of the decision process for new VF products.... They should just go with a subscription type model were consumers vote on what should be made next....then pay up front, no money back....the choices offered would include the final price of the product...only the products that received consumer support would get produced... At this point, they do not seem to be a company that can absorb one failure and still survive....I would like for Arcadia to keep making PT VFs....but they can only survive if they actually make what consumers want, not what Mr. K wants

Wonder how much licensing adds to the cost....must be quite a bit -
Looking forward to Arcadia and Yamato VF-0A side-by-side pics.....

After 30+ years....I will no longer need to stalk YJA for the few missing Takatoku items I still needed to find....so that will drastically reduce my Macross collectible searching/browsing time...of course, there are still always never-before-seen stuff that shows up to acquire! So it will probably never drop down to zero time........

Someone should delude Toynami into a VF-4 kickstarter!

Until the whole issue of "blacks getting killed off too soon" on The Walking Dead came up...I didn't even "notice"....they were just characters to me.....now it's a "race thing".... Why not complain of the lack of Hispanics or Asians on the show (well, there's Glenn I guess...for now)...pretty sure Hispanic or Asian actors wouldn't mind getting killed off on the most popular show on the planet! And FtWD takes place in Los Angeles.....no Latinos hooking up with white chicks in that town? They could have selected a Hispanic as the leading protagonist......what? No one would watch the show??? or how about this idea.....the show could have centered on the fight for survival and "escape from LA" of an undocumented Mexican family living in East LA.....and their quest to head back to the "safety" of Mexico!!! But at least Star Wars is now politically correct!!!

I'm thinking it could also have to do with the fact that we know what they folks are in for..... But, yeah....we already know what is going to happen....I think eventually the viewer may come to "connect" with this family...we must....or we just won't be emotionally vested when the sheit hits the fan and some of them fall victim to what we know must come to pass....it happened to the Grimes family.....and we'd all be outraged at this point to see little ass kicker become a walker snack.......the FtWD showrunners have a tough job with making us feel the same for a junkie.....good luck to them.....would love to see them pull it off.....it would mean great TV.....

I think there is a limit to how many times the bidders can extend the clock....not sure if it is based on the actual bids or the amount of time from the original ending time... I've kept many a Japanese Macross collector up way past their bedtime!
-
Wish ebay did that...or at least gave sellers the option. It's more like a true auction that way....it ain't over until no one is left to bid any higher... Sorry you got outbid....but that just means you have a chance at getting it for less next time....these VF-4's don't command what they used to...
-
So are you are saying Arcadia can't afford it or it is just not available to anyone at the moment? Because attaining one from any media that included a VF-4 would resolve the "current situation" of not having one...wouldn't it? Unless you are also insinuating that Arcadia has no desire in re-releasing it at all?
