Such an awesome Macross collectible line....hope Bandai doesn't abandon it this time....still too much SDFM/DYRL left for Bandai to do... I knew this pic looked familiar........R = Respect * The picture is for nostalgic purposes only. And here is the original illustration they are most definitely recreating..... Tenjin paying some more homage to old school Macross on that VF-1J boxart....even included the gunpod strap!!!

Getting forgettful in my old age...maybe I'll make up for my memory lapse by posting a ton of pics from the first 2 Sortie books!!! -

Relax... It's only a few pics....there are way more in the book...think of it as a free ad....those on the fence may decide it is worth buying....those with no intention to do so aren't getting that much for free... -
TV-Kun, May 1984.....

If no more Macross...the line just just lost my "R".....

Based on this list.... Phalanx and Defender may be Tamashii Web... Same for Super O and TV Max and Kakizaki -1A's... I hope Bandai has enough love left for big Macross mechs after the Monster and Glaug....if so a TV Q-Rau is coming!

Another challenge for sh9000..... Recreate that famous SDFM episode where Max is given the mission to clear out a division of Zentradi mecha at Alaska base! One of the top ten episodes for sure! The most memorable part being Max's customized arctic weather VF-1J with ski attachments! Can't wait for the HMR version...most likely a Tamashii Web exclusive!

It's not bad....but with some determination, patience and luck...you could possibly save around 50 usd if you found one via YJA...even after fees and international shipping... Perhaps it's just my eyes, but the one on Anime-Export looks a little yellowed...you may want to inquire about it before purchasing it...if you decide to go for it...good luck!

Saw that one after mine sold...

You have to do alot to it to get it "right"....but I suppose if you just add the skull markings it could be a "member" of the squadron....just not Hikaru's ride.... Hoping Bandai releases a proper FB2012 VF-4, even at 1/100-ish....
-
Agreed, however, Yamato added some "parts" to their VF-X that basically made it un-transformable if you left them on, thus staying true to the lineart (aka - canon). Not sure why they (or more recently Arcadia) couldn't have done the same for the VF-4 to release a FB2012 version. Cost of the license? BW's regrets on allowing the "cheat" for the VF-X? I can accept the VF-4 prototypes being non-transforming...such as the XVF-4....but in its FB2012 form....that thing is a production model...now way that it wouldn't be transformable at that stage...

Well, at least we won't need to wait for Tenjin's Fourth Sortie to be published to see them all...

I may decide to get one during HLJ's 2017 Black Friday Sale.....

And why Yamato/Arcadia never released a VF-4 in FB2012 scheme... Bandai teased one for the HMR line....wonder if all that nonsense will finally go out the door?

Valkyries Third Sortie - and it's in English!
jvmacross replied to Tochiro's topic in Movies and TV Series
Although comprehensive, it is definitely not complete....I collect these books (well, all Macross books really... ) mainly because they contain Tenjin's illustrations for most of the Hasegawa boxart.....Macross kits are among the few things I stopped collecting years ago....the other being the "official" movie releases.....well, at least before they made the correct move of adding English subs.....most of Tenjin's illustrations for the various recent releases are in the book....one notable omission (for me at least) was his VF-1J illustration from Macross the First.....luckily I have the calendar! The same goes for most of the other art in this book, which I already have in the form of the original source of either posters, artcards, postcards, or magazines.....nevertheless is it great to have many of it arranged in one fantastic, easy to thumb through book!..... Looking forward to the fourth sortie! Also, from what I can tell...there were no Tenjin Macross Chronicle illustrations in this book...so I guess if you need more Tenjin Macross illustrations you'll need to keep buying Macross Chronicle magazines...bring on V 3.0!
