LOL....guess you're not as fanatical as you think you are....I do not need another option...as I said...it is the only game in town....If I could deal with ET's VF-2SS...I could deal with a chunky PWS-0X....just calling it as I see it....
-
Either one is quite chunky....the problem is that they were ok for their time....Arcadia supposedly has had over 10 years of design experience to figure things out....unless they have thrown out the door everything they learned during their Yamato days (but it's TRex...so this can't be the case)...they just got lazy... Look at Bandai with their chunky v1 VF-25's....they got spanked by the fans and turned around and fixed the problem.... Arcadia may not have as much money as Bandai....but they have the experience...and close adherence to lineart has been their claim to fame since the V2 VF-1....that is partly why we rationalize their higher costs.... Their execution of the PWS-0X IMO shows that it was at best an after thought....if it had been properly planned from the start....it should not have ended up looking like a chunky monkey, early 2000's effort...for the kind of money they are expecting fan's to pay....the end product is just too far from the spirit of the lineart..... At this point....correcting the over exposed wings wouldn't matter as it is just too dang w.....i.....d.....e....aka chunky....which I believe is a bigger problem that cannot be easily corrected....unless they come out with a V3 VF-0.....

I'd take you up on the offer...but getting something to you in time to get signed wouldn't be worth the cost....nice of you to offer!

Great! Post some pics when you can....

Arcadia's PWS-0X is, in terms of chunkiness, a Yamato GBP V1.... Hopefully, this isn't the last Macross item they release as it would be sad to end it on this disappointing note.... Maybe they can try harder on the next release!

Dang.....wide load! Return of the Chunky Monkey..... Looks ok from top down at an angle.....maybe if placed on a bottom shelf it won't be so bad....
-
Well, if I were a betting man (which I'm not)....I would be all in on a Bandai Soul of Popynica 1/3000 (or 1/1800) TV SDF-1....with all the bells and whistles.....quite frankly, Yamato's DYRL SDF-1 was meh in terms of said bells and whistles......and I have lost faith in Arcadia.....so hoping they step aside when it comes to a DX-type TV SDF-1 at this point....
-
They are not a subsidiary of Bandai?
-
Takani's illustrations are what drew me into Macross....they are amazing to this day.... I also really like Suzuki's take on the TV SDF-1..... Oh...and here is the other Takani SDF-1 TV in cruiser...... We reeeeaaallllly need an updated 1/3000 TV SDF-1........we need to start a petition to either Arcadia or Bandai.....or both!

IMO, in taking a bit of liberty from the line art, Tenjin corrected the length, thus extending the crotch armor plate so it makes sense.... In working with a 3D rendition, and not devising or wanting to devise a solution for the "long wings"....Arcadia's proportions in the waist area just end up looking way off when compared to the lineart..... I think someone would be able to easily "fix" the over-exposed wings issue by designing a new backplate and mock wing tips or the entire "shortened" wing assembly ala-HMR..... Unfortunately, there is no shapeways "diet pill" to get rid of the chunkiness.....
-
Ok...so pulled the Macross Chronicle that covers the PWS-0X.... The line art on Mr. March's site is correct.....and just about the only "official" line art available (the VFMF illustrations for the PWS-0X would support the Arcadia interpretation more so than the official line-art...but IMO it is wrong and hopefully, Arcadia did not use that as their "gold standard"...if so, they screwed up) ....there definitely is no "armor" covering the back side of the wings, which is what we see when viewing it "head-on".....so they are definitely exposed....however, Arcadia's execution has left those wings "over-exposed", which would also mean the back armor plate that covers the "top" of the wings when viewing it from behind...is too long.....anime magic I suppose.... But since the VF-0S suited in the PWS-0X armor is not transformable anyways, it wouldn't have hurt to supply "shorter wings" and a shorter back armor plate if collectors did not mind the parts-forming.....same could have been done with the hands.....providing a set of "armor-use" hands.....maybe a PWS-0X V 2.0 will address this....or an HMR! Finally.....even Tenjin went with the minimally exposed wings look in his illustration...... It would seem like the bottom of the back armor plate should be at the same level as the front "crotch" armor plate....which makes sense in "real-world/in-universe" application...this setup would allow for minimal exposure to the wings...either from the front or back..... Arcadia's PWS-0X is also too chunky IMO..at least looking at it head-on....unlike the GBP, which even in the lineart is bulky, the lineart portrays the PWS-0X as "slimmer"....the GBP is like an offensive lineman and the PWS-0X should be more like a running back.... Arcadia's PWS-0X reminds me of a Yamato's GBP V 1.0 armor when compared to the V 2.0 (which IMHO runs a bit "skinny")..... Still...it's the only game in town and looks OK from behind and from side views I suppose.....

You know....that Art Jeuness YF-19 reminds me of how several companies seem to go with the "monochromatic" look when deciding to release "special" versions of their collectibles.... Takatoku did it....IMAI/ARII did it....Bandai did it.....Doyusha did it....even Toynami gave it a go.... I would totally buy the one Arcadia was teasing months ago......

The Art Jeuness Gallery features high-end art from several Japanese illustrators. However, they often have several "shows" or events to commemorate things such as the Macross 20th Anniversary...and more recently the Macross 30th Anniversary...go figure! And, of course, these events usually will have plenty of "event exclusive" merchandise offered for sale. Again, nice catch and welcome to the exclusive Art Jeuness Macross 20th Anniversary Limited Edition Doyusha YF-19 Owners Club....
-
It is relatively rare....I've seen maybe 4-5 since the Doyushas were first released.....good find! BTW...says right on the box....it was made to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Macross...it was an exclusive from the Art Jeuness Gallery shop in Japan....

Possibly.... I do not think there is "armor" missing for the "front" part...it is just covering the back of the wings....it's just that the current position of the wing tips is way too low....making them look way to exposed when looking at them from the front...I feel the available line art supports the wings not being as exposed as they are on the Arcadia PWS-0X armor... The CAD for the proposed cannon fodder VF-0 seems to have its wings more recessed.....maybe they realized the problem but it was too late for the already released VF-0S/A....
-
I'd put up waiting a little longer for the rest of the HMR destroids for a HMR FB2012 VF-4 and a properly designed VF-2SS with SAP....
-
At the current MSRP....not sure how much more a swappable "short" wing part would have affected the cost...not much I think... As for the "parts-former" issue.....the collector would have the "option" of not using it.....wonder how many opt out of installing their "option parts" when displaying their so-equipped 1/60 VF-1 Battroids? I'm guessing very few....at least the side/neck covers... Anyway....this Arcadia "dress up" option can get away with the "Evolution Toys" defense I suppose....as it is "the only game in town"..... Still, the obviously exposed wings are close, if not exactly, as bad as how Toynami handled their GBP's "crotch" (which you can at least conceal by closing the wings)...except IMO leaving a forward-facing part uncovered is far worse! At their stage in the game, you'd think Arcadia would have come up with a solution....the current execution seems as if they just decided to ignore it....and hoped no one would notice..... Shame on you Arcadia!
-
The lineart actually depict oversized shoulder packs....ironically....Arcadia's armor is so chunky the packs actually look appropriately sized... Unfortunately, the PWS-0X armor is not supposed to have a "bulky" overall look....except for those shoulder packs... The biggest problem are the super exposed wings when looking at it head-on....can't believe Arcadia didn't think of that when they "re-designed" the VF-0....it makes it look like the armor was an afterthought....HMR-style swappable wings could have resolved that...

Female getting busted out of cell....seen that before too.... Apparently doing that twice in Rogue One? -
Are the wings supposed to be that visible from the front? Its armor and should be able to cover the most vulnerable bits....like wings! Can't unsee it now.... the back piece seems to be sufficiently covering the wings as the line art shows.... Still looks ok I suppose......at least they did not mess too much with the colors.....

This one has some measurements....
