Book review sites, anime-focus to help purchase choices?
jvmacross replied to AngelBird4's topic in Collectors
Most people are into just the toys....so that probably explains the lack of such a site devoted to just reviewing the books -
Sorry, but that would have to be done in a new line of VF's....the Canon Finish (CF)...and, of course, it will have two flavors...CF-PF or CF-regular.... The obvious second release would be Shin's VF-0A CF..... Prices TBD....

Picked up the Toynami SDCC 2018 exclusive....1 of 750!.... (This is not a toy!) ....no rush to open it at the moment...as I know these always look better in the box... Hopefully, Bandai releases the HMR version at some point....for now I have my placeholder...

Hey sh9000...sorry for late reply...was on vacation! Anyway....I'll probably get it used....and just for the sake of trying to keep the Macross book collection complete...
-
LOL....but you're the one whose backtracking and countering your own SAD argument....keep trying newb!

Well....if you are now conceding that Yamato was able to innovate in the absence of any competition....then I guess there is not much else to add....congrats!

Second I believe.... 4th will be packed with clean HMR boxart love....can't wait!
-
It's a Tenjin illustration.....just right-click on it and do Google search for the image....or buy the Sorties book it is featured in for many other awesome Macross illustrations...
-
Well, I would offer the idea of having some time to recharge your wallet by assuming Bandai would do the Macross Delta VF-22 Immelman first....but chances are you will be getting that one too!
-
yeah...but kinda tired of the showpiece teasers that never seem to pan out.....I don't just want to see it, I want a chance to own it.... Losing hope on this one too...
-
I agree, but it will never happen in 1/48...no worries though...Bandai offers solutions...
-
I like seeing the Macross Plus Logo on a Bandai box........the future's looking bright!
-
"If" it were to be made.....you would also undoubtedly be ordering the VR soon after!
-
I would have been just fine with that scenario with the DX 1/48 VF-1.....
-
Although it is supposed to be a TV version, adding the correct TV hands to it force it to be a parts-former....good thing I prefer fighter mode
-
The VF-1D would be the one I would really be surprised if made....it never got the Yamato 1/48 treatment either...it would be an insta-buy

No, that's the whole point. The position was that only via competition can we get innovation and without it we will somehow get awful Macross toys. For the most part this is true in most industries. However, we are dealing with an ultra niche commodity in Macross PT Toys. Yamato's own innovations, done without any competative pressures, throws this position out the proverbial window. Yamato has shown that great PT Macross toys are possible without any direct competition. As for Bandai, it did not "wake up" due to Yamato....it woke up due to there being a new TV show (MF) that would maximize visibility to any potential merchandise, including PT VFs, for maximum profitability potential. Bandai paid for the show's sponsorship and licenses due to it finally being a profitable means to start making Macross again. Bandai will be fully capable of producing great Macross PT toys without any direct competition as well.

I'm guessing the Cat Lady will still not recognize the reference...these darn kids these days
