How does the does the video compare on ADVs version to the Animeigo version? IIRC, the Animeigo version is progressive. Is ADVs?

LOL aint that the truth! I can't believe how dark the OVA transfer is. Luckily there are numerous brightness settings I can fiddle with on my HTPC. Here's the thing....how do you guys know FOR SURE the Manga OVAs aren't a direct VHS rip? I mean, where exactly is the video source from? I'm not saying the quality is bad, but it isn't quite a crisp as say, Ninja Scroll or Tenchi Muyo. What if Manga's VHS master was a bit better and they ripped the OVAs from that? Manga's release isn't really bad its just so dark. The R2 DVDs do have the English dub(IIRC its 2.0). No English subs but I've seen Macross Plus so many times I really don't need them.

Quality is decent. Doesn't look like an old VHS tape. I think it might be an LD rip though. 2.0 Japanese audio and no English subs. The extras are a trailer of the PSX game and some still shots of promotional material. Comes with a fold out mini poster of a hand drawn YF-19 and YF-21. IIRC the other side lists the changes from the OVA by time code and pics.

Saw these over at yesasia.com. The description says region free but yesasia can be wrong sometimes. Macross Plus It does have Macross: a future chronicle. A nice little extra not found on the US release since it contains footage of SDF Macross. Macross DYRL? I thought DYRL? couldn't be released outside Japan? Yesasia usually doesn't sell bootlegs.

1st half of Big O = great 2nd half of Big O = almost unwatchable A movie do over would be nice. The voice acting is very well done through the whole series. The music is great too.

I think 4gb cards are out right now. IIRC 8gb cards are coming late 06/early 07. I have 2gb ultra II from Sandisk. Got it for about 100.00 from Amazon. I guess its an age thing. Those of us who saw them in the theaters, who grew up knowing them one way, want to be able to see them that way again. For us, the SE films detract from the experience, not add to it. 398027[/snapback] Yep that's pretty much my feelings about it. I don't mind the SE versions but I everytime I watch them I think about the changes. I'll be buying the these new sets for the old versions. Maybe sell off the SE box set I have.
