Yamato 1/60 VF-17 Nightmare Diamond Force
Mommar replied to charger69's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Well, they never said, "Hey, we're making Fast Packs." But while highlighting some of the gimmicks they specifically showed the two pieces on the top of the 17 where fast packs would attach as if to say "look at these slots where fast packs could be attached." So, I think technically they're going to do it. -

The 17 was designed to accommodate fast pack attachments. -
I'm curious to hear what you do and how it works out for you. Would love to be able to fix my issue... though dismantling the thing already sounds scary.

After handling the VF19S and looking at my old YF-19 Double Nuts I'd love a V.3... well provided I don't get fraked ankles on it like my 19S. The YF-19 is SOOOOO bad looking by comparison now. Although, I've never been a fan of the color scheme from Mac+ either so unless they had some variants (like the Double Nuts) it still might be a tough sell for me.

Isn't the super pack a Tamashii Web exclusive though? Or does Anime-export cover those too?
-
Does that mean there's a chance if i tighten the screws on my ankles it may hold better in Gerwalk? I don't want to overtighten/stress something or wind up making it worse in some other area.

Your pics are amazing Swoosh... but no Gerwalk? -
I agree. If i can doctor mine so it can hold better I'll do it. I'm tempted to try out some nail polish or something just to see but I'm not really the type to dismantle/tinker with this kind of stuff. Until this point I've been lucky (except for the super loose ankles on my Hi-metal VF-1) and haven't had to worry.

Alright, you were just the last in a long line who said that same thing and it seemed to be justification. Maybe the issue is limited to me and it isn't as bad as it could be... but at $300 I get to shout very loud when this thing doesn't pose how I like it to. Battroid is rather solid/awesome. I won't deny that. It's what I've left the thing in because I can't pose it in Gerwalk. To be honest the V2 25 is ball jointed plus it has ratchets and it works beautifully. Why can't the 19 have something similar?
-
I find that argument very odd. Regardless of whether it's your favorite or not, it's still a valid form that needs to work as well. For some of us it doesn't and that sucks if we're fans. Holy crap, that really sucks dude.
-
I guess it's just Archer and I who got screwed then? I cannot pose the toy like that at all. Especially like pic number 4, no way in hell.

Poll- Which Macross/Robotech mecha would you like to see
Mommar replied to Maiden Japan's topic in Toys
Damn, when I saw the thumbnail I thought those were actually the next releases! -
Try bending one of the knees more or less so that it isn't symmetrical. Or try splaying the knees wider and see what happens. As it is that pose there with my 19S is precarious at best. Anything else and it totally collapses. That's not what I'd call good. I can do lots of other poses with my other Yamato Valks but i can barely hold on to that stance in your picture there.
-
I wish my 19 could do all of that. If I'm lucky and I really jam the ankles back I can pull off the thrid pic... until the heater kicks on and knocks it over.
-
Archer's comment brings up a bigger issue. We've heard the rave reviews from everyone about how great the Kai was. It's fighter looks incredible and it's Battroid is totally awesome. How many of these reviewers are fans of Gerwalk modes? Archer and I both are and we don't like this thing (well, his Kai and my 19S.) I know there's been this semi-debate about who got what right between Yamato and Bandai and after getting my 19S Bandai wins hands down. Three faithful modes and Gerwalk is actually pose-able at half the price (plus a stand that could hold up the Gerwalk just in case it actually was balanced shitty). For $300 Yamato needs to fix their crap quick.
-
The issue is you don't want to force the ankles back or forward or else the balljoint loosens even more, as others who own the Kai have said. So getting that angle and pushing the ankles back as far as possible works, though it is VERY precarious on mine, it's also not recommended for the ankles in general. I left it in a position similar to yours while I was out for about an hour and when I came back it had nose-planted into the desk it was sitting on. The ankles refused to hold. If the two toe pieces were ratcheted and moved both up and down the issue could be resolved. The easiest way to get the deeper stance would be to angle the toes farther back and angle the lower calf farther forward. This would keep the point where it's balanced farther beneath the 19 but still have a deep forward stance. As it is the legs don't bend far enough underneath the body of the 19 to do much good.
-
My 19S can't do that pose. The ankles will collapse forward and it will crash the nose into the table if I try that. The only way I've been able to keep it up is to adjust the legs inward (killing any sort of A-stance) and I STILL have to move the ankles back as far as they can go or else it will fall forward. I've played with this thing for a good long while and though in the Kai thread I thought I had this figured out it turns out that, no, these ankles are horrible and this Gerwalk is horribly implemented.
-
That happens with mine too.
-
Fighter looks great and it's really one of the most fun Battroid modes I've ever played with. That's why it's such a disappointment that Gerwalk is pathetic/awful.
-
Gerwalk is my favorite mode for most Valks. And you have to keep in mind that Gerwalk is one third of it's purpose. If two modes are near perfect and one is almost completely useless that's a fail in my book. I'd give it a 6 for a really tight fighter, awesome looking Battroid and 95% useless Gerwalk. I didn't like the Hi-Metal 19S because the Gerwalk wasn't poseable at all. I was hoping this release would fix that but the horribly broken Ankle design means that even though the legs can be displayed you really can't do much with the Gerwalk mode (not that it was a terribly poseable mode to begin with.) I'm really worried about the 17 now as well though that's one of the few I wouldn't bother with Gerwalk as much... it still needs to function correct regardless.
-
With the ankles as they are now I will not buy an F and possibly not the P either. It's a really poor design especially for a $300 toy. At the very least the rear "toe" needs to click backwards so you can tuck the lower leg farther beneath the body of the 19. Right now all of the weight is precariously forward and the forward "toe"/ankle do not hold well enough for me to trust this. I'm pretty disappointed by this thing already.
-
My mini-review. This thing frakking blows if you're a Gerwalk fan. I wouldn't say my ankle is loose, but the two moving toes are. And with the fact the ankle/toe cannot angle back plus the upper thigh cannot fold underneath another click the forward heaviness of this thing pulls it over every single time for me. To be honest I'm seriously disappointed in this thing. Fighter is cool, I haven't messed with it in Battroid yet. Gerwalk is next to useless for me, though, which is too bad because that's my favorite mode.
-
frakking USPS took 48 hours to clear my 19S through customs. I won't see this thing until at least Monday.
-
Did one of the two sites tell you it was in customs? Mine left Monday via EMS but I've got no indication it's held in customs yet.

The FZ109F isn't good enough to have a Gerwalk figure too?
