I was wondering that same thing. Why bother with a DYRL 1S Hikaru or Roy if you're not going to have super packs for them? I believe the CF should also have black stripes down the forearms too. Oh, that's the other thing. These rereleases have the improved crotches too. My 1S max is crying out for an improved crotch so he can be more stable in Battroid with the strike packs on. That being said... I'm not buying another one.

How is this not a good example why a re-imagined animation could be just as good/entertaining?

I suppose I would think that too if it weren't for the fact this is #14 VF-1 for me. I was perfectly content to wait for this one to finally arrive. I may not feel the same way about the 171 I have pre-ordered with them though.

It probably had something to do with the fact that it didn't ship until the same day other people's 1D's were arriving at their homes. Once it was shipped it only took a week. Shipped Last Thursday, got here yesterday.

At this point in time you either pay through the nose for a separate set (and you will likely only find the DYRL style with the Strike packs) or get lucky and find a Valk that comes with them. Fast Pack's are not easy to find on their own anymore which I find odd as it seems more and more people are searching for them. I know my need/want has grown as my collection has but they're harder and harder to find. On the plus side they're all interchangeable and work regardless if your Valk is SDFM or DYRL. If you really felt like it you could have one pack be colored like SDFM and one like DYRL is you really felt like it. Also, my 1D showed up from ishop2go yesterday. It took them a little while to ship but everything turned out alright. Also, I've discovered cutting up decals with an Xacto knife is a pain in the ass. The side panels look cool though I noticed on the left side of the valk the panel sits flush with the chest plate but on the right side it's a little off and leaves a gap. From any other angle I cannot tell if the chest plate is slightly crooked but I will say that left side looks good with the panels sitting perfectly flush.

Actually, if enough idiots keep saying it wrong the term does officially become flapes if only because nobody will know the correct way to pronounce it. I'm about ready to start shooting people who say/type "wala" instead of "voila" as it's becoming far too common an occurrence now.

Which is easy to do because the design sucks and needs to be reimplemented.

Bend the Ankle all the way back then all the way forward. You should hear three light clicks. Both of my 25's do this.

I would describe the resolution as unsatisfactory.

This video highlights the four parts of the armor that aren't colored correct on the Alto at about 10:40 in. That little diamond bit on the chest and the two intake covers are colored white like the rest of the valk when they really should be colored the same as the crotch armor to present symmetry and color coordination like in the show. That would make a huge difference in how it looks, though losing that darker border along the bottom would also help.

The front to back on both the 17 and 19 is awful and can lead to the joint popping apart in some cases. If the 25 has no ratchets then I'm curious why the ankles on my F and S both click as I adjust them forward and back?

Because of the design/weight distribution of the valk the 17's ankles are less of a problem however they're the exact same design as the 19's and as such need more dynamic range front to back. Like the 25, they would benefit from a joint higher up that handles motion left to right and then a lower click-able portion that handles front to back. That would greatly improve both the 17 and 19 overall.

I think they're just showing off how deep it can turn down in Gerwalk mode. The 25's ankles had plenty of movement forward and back. I'd be surprised if they screwed this up (but Yamato would be wise to look at how the 25's ankles function and the fix their other Vf-19/17 releases later this year with Ankles that don't suck but I doubt they will because nobody will inform them the ankles are poorly designed.)

To be honest we're extremely lucky Yamato even bothers to post updates of their CAD models for us. It's not the norm to be shown iterative engineering changes/updates.

I agree. I already pointed out that at 9pm on opening night we didn't even have a full house. Can I just say (you guys who like Scarlett can keep on if you like) that Cobie Smulders looked SMOKIN' in this film. Who knew a black jump suit and pony tail could make her look that damn good.

The part where she grabbed on I agree was too much. The boosting/flipping/whatever prior to it I don't have an issue with.

So none of these people have seen a Cheerleader/Chinese/other acrobatic performance? Couple that with two humans boosted to the height of physical fitness/prowess and it's not a very large stretch of the imagination.

My 1D won't be here until at least next week. Something I just considered. In the Max/Milia thread we discussed that DYRL is just more popular in Japan... then why reissue the 1D from SDFM and not the 1T for DYRL? And issue an unpainted 1D on top of that?

Based on that image you just posted Bandai got the coloring wrong. Or, rather, they got the crotch armor color correct but they did not color the intake covers the same color nor did they color the little triangle shape in the center of the chest armor the same color. So when on the toy you've got that one Gray crotch patch surrounded by bright white when other nearby spots should have been that same grey color as well.
