Flashback 1942 Skull-1 Lightning transform test (WIP, no textures/hand
Mommar replied to dialNforNinja's topic in Fan Works
Such an interesting/cool design. The P-38 has been one of my favorites my entire life. How far are you going to take this model? Textures? Are you going to beef it up with more polys? -

The Hi-Metals in Battroid are easily more pose-able then the V2's are. The V2 hips alone are geriatric (like my horrible, horrible back) by comparison.

Sorry, I couldn't get pictures taken. I injured my back Friday morning and it's been a long fun weekend alternating between twenty minutes laying on ice and twenty minutes standing completely straight.
-
I guess you could say the difference is the influence of the productions. The "nightcore" stuff is obviously influenced by Trance production techniques, just sped up to a ridiculous degree. The older Happy Hardcore is influenced by early house and drum n bass (the hats mostly) productions from the early 90's.

I'll try to make some time tomorrow to take a few pics of my 1J Hikaru and Max's for you.

I've always found that extra bit with the A's head laser having to move for the landing gear to come down was pretty silly. The J and S don't have that issue but why make one that requires that extra bit of engineering when landing... especially when it's the Cannon Fodder version too. It would make more sense to have a J model with a single laser if you really had to differentiate.

I kinda get sick of these reused sounds with new labels. Nightcore IS Happy Hardcore. Pretty much inside and out. It's just like when all those kids in the early 2000's were into "psy-trance" which was really just Goa from back in the early 90's. Also, that eye of the tiger track was easily more endearing then noise that is most Dub Step.

Or it could be a great vehicle to explore other "human" relationships in the same world with some action tossed in. It depends on the writing and the subject, not the general setting.

I guess it would be more fair to say Macross isn't in the place that you would ideally want it to be. To me the SDFM is the best for several reasons. While Hikaru was stupid and immature... aren't we all when we're young. I never really thought of him as whiny. And how many of us knew a good looking, popular girl who was just a little too spoiled and little too immature like Minmay? And once you finally grow up and sort yourself out how many of us have learned to appreciate someone more like Misa, someone who behaves like a woman instead of a child? I think the characters, while still caricatures, were realistic from a universal perspective. The later series had characters that were, for lack of a better term, too Japanese. They were what has grown out of the Japanese anime culture which I feel is unrealistic and stupid for everyone. So in terms of character I think the later Macross miss the mark. Plus... still had some of it but I'll get to why it wasn't nearly as good in a minute. In terms of gravitas they all lose to the original. Genocide of humanity, the complete loss of the human race versus... losing a few colonies, or in the case of Plus Guld (I'm ignoring the AI taking over SDF-1 thing because that felt shoe-horned, stupid and completely unnecessary to the plot.) Macross 7 and Frontier had no real consequences. Hell, even the principal heroes of SDFM eventually befell the fate that almost happened to the Mac 7 and Frontier cast so it's established in canon that losing colonies means nothing. You lose a colony, you send out another ship. It worked for the British West Indian Company, why not earth? Other then maybe liking the characters and not wanting them to die losing the conflict meant nothing. In SDFM the world was destroyed. Even in their victory it was almost complete annihilation. You can't beat that... well, ironically Robotech revisited that devastation of Humanity which maintained the gravity but lost everything else, including the animation. The argument is that each story covered a different topic and annihilation may not be important. Frontier is about privatization of military forces... but it ended with an emo whiny kid blinking off into the aether with super crab lady after flying in with his "super plane." Mac 7 had a guy flying a plane with a guitar and firing speakers at his enemies. SDFM was animation but it was adult. Mac7 and Frontier were cartoons by comparison. Plus... had potential to be a very personal, tragic story but ended with a silly AI controlling a giant super powered space cruiser. It became silly fanboy masturbation fantasy. What if one Valkyrie went up against the SDF-1??? I don't care, it's a bad idea. Isamu should have been forced to kill Guld and he should have been kicked out of the UN Spacy for it. Then his minor reappearance in Frontier as a member of a private security force would have at least shown us he hadn't given up or there was life for him afterwards rather then... hey, here's that older guy you used to like! *wink wink* In my last point everyone's involvement was important. Nobody in SDFM had a "super" fighter different from anyone else. The final battle wasn't one by one person. Even as good as Max and Milia were, it took everyone. The SDF-1. The Zentraedi who switch their allegiance. The non-violent like Minmay contributed in their own way. There was still unified fronts in Mac7 and Frontier but they came down to "chosen one" type characters which was silly and not like SDFM. Plus does not apply here because it was a different sort of story, which I commend, I feel it should have been about the tragedy of two talented men in a broken relationship falling from grace... not a battle with AI controlled toys.

Sorry, I was being pedantic. Bandai hasn't made one before so there's little to assume they'll do one now. I'll buy three if they do make them.

They seemed to have. They definitely were very specific about how many pre-orders they were going to take and it was a very low number.

I don't really see how there was a missed step in G/B mode. Other then angling the shoulders up higher then other pics we've seen nothing looks wrong.

Interesting note, but not surprising (though some people around here seemed shocked/disappointed by this on the VF-17.) There are going to be removable covers for the hands on that thing just like every other version of the 17/171. Also, really damn great looking. I hope either of my Pre-orders is actually filled but based on these new pics I might actually keep both of them if they do each get filled. I'm glad there are new pics of something too, it was getting too quiet in here. I am super curious to see the difference in this versus the 17. Looks like that backpack fits a lot closer then the 17 (though this one is a lot more compact as well so that might make it easier to pull off.) The ankles look infinitely better then on the 17, though hopefully they don't become floppy at some point. Also, three hard points confirmed for everyone hoping to load theirs up with missiles.

Really, 97? I thought that song was older then that. More like early 90's. Either way I recall that was the only track on the album that sounded like this.

I'm tempted to get that SDF-1 Kit (even though I don't care for the DYRL version) just because it's only $150.

How come all of those Ace Combat Master File renders look so much better than the Macross one's do? Also, the pics are bright enough you can actually make out detail!

So it's just like life. You make a bunch of decisions that amount to nothing when you die. Harsh dose of reality if you ask me.

Call me an old stick in the mud but I've always preferred my electronic music to be slower, smoother more melodic and funky. None of this harsh or high BPM stuff.

I realize complaining about something on the VF-2SS being derivative of the original Macross is at the very least highly ironic but I don't think the armor should have dual guns that look EXACTLY like the strike cannons from DYRL. At the very least keep them similar to the SAP pack's cannon. While all of the Mechs in Macross 2 were derivative they still maintained their own style... those cannons (even the blocky armor) blatantly reuse original Macross style which I don't think serves the MacII Valks style.
