Yeah, I don't understand the problem with the landing gear color. They're all pretty much the same colors internally.

Bad Sci-Fi movies? Wing Commander. We went and saw it for a friend's birthday when I was in high school. His Mom paid for us all. I felt like I should have paid her back when we left the theater. I remember it was so dumb there was a part where the capitol ships were hunting each other and they set low to the ground, shut off all the power and were shushing each other and trying to keep quiet to avoid the sonar from the other ship. -
I get the feeling I'm going to get boned on my 171 pre-order now. The other stuff I've ordered from them has turned out okay though.

I guess since the VF-4 was never prominent and all of the enemy Mechs in Mac 7 already look like the SR-71 I never put two-and-two together either.

I'm wondering if I'll get either of my orders. I could only grab them at iShop2Go and BBTS... neither are having great track records with this Bandai BS. Really, I think the biggest problem with all of this is that Bandai doesn't care and monetarily doesn't have to care. Yamato are dealing in the classics, they know there's a world wide audience and that their bottom line depends on as many fans as possible getting their hands on it. Bandai is huge. They have huge divisions. They have huge properties outside of Japan that bring them money. Macross is relatively niche in Japan, and cannot be exported. They can make enough to satisfy the Japanese and not care. So for this, the other renewals and the 29 they probably don't even pay attention to the people outside Japan because legally and monetarily it makes no sense for them to.

I feel Hobgoblin was a far worse movie than Manos to be honest. -
Considering the forearms are smaller then the 17 and tapered at the end I'd assume this was the only possibly way to make the thing transform. The 17 had a plate you had to pop off in order to make the hands pop up but these forearms don't leave any room for hands. It was pretty much a necessity because the design was nearly impossible to implement.

Look at that bottom pic of them swapping out the hands. Somebody told me that I was wrong and the arms opened up so the hands could be folded out. I feel vindicated because I never saw the "hinges" they talked about.

That's a lot more then a repaint. If it even has a Battroid mode it won't have arms and barely shoulders.

In addition, it also holds much better when the Fast Packs are attached. The old Crotch system would tend to sag. The new one holds much better.

While it appears they've left a spot to attach the packs to I'm not aware of Bandai ever mentioning that they exist.

I just might wind up with two of these, one for Jet and another for Battroid.

If it makes you feel any better I still feel like the nose is too needle-like in fighter mode. However, that seems to only be the case from certain specific angles.

You must have missed the entire original discussion we had about the VF-4. It had zero underside slant in the first CAD images. Now it does actually have one. Yamato doesn't base their designs on other stylistic interpretations. They base them on the Line art proper. As such, the nose is a little too needle-like right now for many people.

This is very interesting. I'd love to see more Gerwalk angles as the rare instances we've ever seen this thing you really never get to see Gerwalk. Are you planning to use this as a model in a game? It appears to be slightly lower poly. At the very least the textures are a little lower res.

I don't know, if I can keep Yamato afloat by buying up all of these VF-1 variants I'm hoping they'll squeeze as many lesser known Valks in between these releases as is possible.

Actually, he chose to de-emphasize the Valks. Which is at least mildly different.

It's cool and I'd get one but now that other VF-1's, at the same price, are getting side covers why not release all of them with them? I could see if they only produce them during certain times they may only have a giant pile of TV colored white versions to pack in so specialized schemes like the Cavalier could possibly be skipped (though that sucks) but there's no justification if they're already stamping white one's out for the 1S Roy and 1J Hikaru why they shouldn't toss a pair in with this one as well.

Or at least ask for copies of the pictures other people take so they can reveal them with better focus.
