  1. You know what, I don't think I've even "swung" the hip bar on my 171. It just wouldn't move but it's stable enough that it doesn't matter.
  2. I think battroid looks awesome to I guess that isn't true. In other news, i was looking at all of those new shots and I think despite the crazy engineering involved to make everything work that the transformation on this thing is going to be relatively easy. That gunk in the middle of Battroid looks intimidating but with the way all of the surfaces line up a few pegs/holes/whatever should be relatively easy to line up. I guess that depends on how Yamato approaches the design though. Also, the legs are definitely going to be housed in the fuselage and not just flip up into the legs like some have speculated. You can clearly see the gap about mid-calf in the Gerwalk photos where the thigh will protrude from. I wonder if they'll provide leg covers like on the 19 since the back of that calf is going to be GAPING, though it was pretty much left open on the lineart as well. At the very least some sort of mechanism to cover up that mid-calf gap (or extra pieces.) The hands do have the "trigger finger" built in. That doesn't mean it will be coming with a gun pod (I'm betting it absolutely won't" but if you feel like pilfering one from an extra VF-1 I'll bet it holds that gun just fine.
  3. Looks like I'm going to have to dig up another VF-0 as well. Way to cram all of this between renewals/17's/19's/4's Kurisima... ;0)
  4. The reason why gunpods are included standard is because those other Valks used Gunpods. The VF-4 does not. It's guns are stored internally. Why expect one this time?
  5. Not on the left hand of mine. It's so tight I have to pry it out with something else then attach the hand afterward.
  6. I'd say probably the biggest thing you missed, and that I don't like about the 17, is the fact that the backpack in Gerwalk isn't as secure as the 171 and tends to droop though the swing bar is also kinda crap IMO. I'd also have mentioned that the pins on the swappable wings on the 171 can be a pain in the ass if you get a loose pair. Also, pulling the hands out of the housings on the 171 can be a huge problem. My hands tend to pop off easy and I had a hell of a time getting the attachment to lock properly for Gerwalk/Battroid. I wound up having to fish it out with something else, lock it at the wrist, then reattach the hand. Overall Yamato's is worse... but they were always fighting an uphill battle attempting to make any of the Valks from 7, which are probably THE MOST dis-proportioned of all the Macross Valks versus MacF and Bandai honestly having it easier because they've already got a relatively useful/useable 3D model that doesn't take on crazy proportions between scenes/shots.
  7. It launches in either Gerwalk or Battroid with an optional pod and tosses it away if they transform into Fighter.
  8. I remember those comparison pictures. But they're just 2D sketches. For me at least, since I don't have any of those Hase models, it was hard to really picture how the proportions would change anything. Especially considering it's not just the face the legs are so skinny lengthwise. I'm wondering about the width of the arms as well when they fit between the legs. Seeing this thing in 3D from different angles makes a big difference in understanding what you were getting at. Looking back at that pic from the Master File I really, really hate the design they decided to go with now.
  9. Wow. Just based on that test render of the torso section that's going to be one brutish looking Battroid. I'm curious how the shoulders/arms are going to look since you've been so unhappy with the twig arms we see on other models and the Master File books.
  10. As opposed to the casual Macross Fans who have stuck around since '94 for their VF-17?
  11. Yeah, well, when you're sitting there waiting for the doorball to ring and it never does but then you find a slip in your mailbox claiming they missed you it's pretty obvious they didn't even try and are being lazy. That's what we're all complaining about.
  12. So has anybody heard where the hell this book went?
  13. The Fan racer was a model kit, not a toy. Plenty of people would skip that because they don't have the time/talent.
  14. There's some damn woman working for the postal service near my house who will do the exact same thing. I take care of my Mom and have warned her this woman doesn't even attempt to show up at the door and she's actually had to change the postwoman down the road to yell at her about doing her job correct. I try as hard as i can to get everything Fed Ex or UPS now because I don't trust that woman to do anything correct and expect, now that we've caught her red handed, she'll attempt to retaliate in some way.
  15. Even if Nippon-Yasan still haven't completely sold out like other places have I'm curious what their stock numbers are like versus other places. It seems like they have quite a few of these things.
  16. Thanks eyesonme. That's good to know.
  17. How much of this thing are you actually modifying now?
  18. The Battroid mode has brutish charm.
  19. Well, you can buy a 17 right now... so there's that The fact the back area of the 17's Gerwalk already sags has me worried the Fast packs are going to make it stressed/even worse. Then again, I'm also concerned the swappable wings, which you seem fortunate enough to have one that isn't loose, will flat out fall off with missiles attached.
  20. I would say most likely that upper thigh will slide back into the larger, lower calf, which would put it's placement roughly along the center of the fuselage and it's just a matter of rotating everything so the panel that folds down to form the crotch is created. I'm willing to bet the back of that calf is going to be VERY open, but that would allow some great poses as an offset. In terms of where the intake goes... remove-able maybe, unless Yamato has come up with a clever enough solution that it rotates underneath as you fold the upper thigh out of the calf. Word of warning, you see how thick that upper thigh is? The Fuselage is going to have to be thick enough to obscure that whole thing. From head on it's not going to be paper thin like a lot of the drawings/models have made it out to be. That center portion is going to be thick.
  21. Hmm, I have a fear about these stupid swappable wings when the armor parts arrive. They're already kind of spotty in terms of alignment/sturdiness as is. With the addition of missile weight on the wings I'm concerned they're going to perpetually droop, if not outright fall off. This is another one of those peculiar Bandai engineering decisions where they get everything perfect and then find a single way to completely f**k it up.
  22. There's a lot of demand for a group buy. Has anybody taken the mantle yet?
  23. Those stickers are looking very good on your 17. I've been having problems with the sticker portion "showing" too much. I thought they were waterslides at first as well. Have you done any stickering on the underside (mostly for Fighter mode) as well?
  24. Is this your 17 stickered up semi-real world style? Can you take more pics in all three modes? I've been considering doing this but wasn't sure how it would look.
  25. Based on all of the images we've seen so far the majority of the diecast, especially in Battroid, is right in the center of the toy. I think it will be more stable then we realize. Since the VF-19 Yamato has gotten a lot better about making their toys more stable/balanced. Gerwalk looks a lot better then I ever thought it did in the few scetches/video games it's been in. I can't believe how having these things in person can make such a difference. I REALLY love the way the 171 comes off in Gerwalk when I never once thought it looked good in the animation. Same with the 17.
