I'm now wondering if our 171's are going to become scrapped up from the EX armor as well now.
-
Does Bandai have a standard release date? Yamato is usually the last Friday so we'll all see our D's in October.
-
Has something been shuffled around? I could have sworn there was a release in August for either this or the 17D but now it's looking like everything is at least a month behind what i thought.

I went ahead and bit on Nippon-Yasan as well. At $400 with shipping I couldn't justify more than one like I thought I would though. After seeing the number for real on screen I couldn't pull the trigger on two.

As long as I like the scheme I don't care about who "piloted" what machine. My love of a design is entirely separate from any of that stuff. As long as it looks cool I don't really care where it comes from or if I've seen an episode/movie/video game/comic/whatever that it comes from.

Are you kidding? Look at the line art. In order to do the 17 correct it would need whole new legs in Battroid mode alone. They go from impossibly flat in fighter mode to ridiculously HUGE in battroid. The 19 was far easier to get the proportions close in all three modes then the 17.

Mommar replied to VF-18S Hornet's topic in Toys
I thought I was the only person on the planet who kept their 11's (to say nothing of the C variety) Fast Pack free. Hmm, and another interesting point.... we both live in the same city. -
That's a pretty disappointing standard response for such a pointed question.

It's a painted resin kit man, those seems will be gone on the real production version.

I don't think Graham as been hinting at that at all. Have I missed a quote somewhere? The last i remember he said Yamato was done with the Zero license.

Yamato would have done well to copy Bandai's (I know they couldn't see it at the time) idea of having that collapsible bit back behind the shoulders to allow the backpack to sit closer. They also needed a better connection for the back half of the thing in Battroid. It already sags a tad, I'm shuddering to think what it will be like with the super packs attached.

I want three but I'm not sure I can even justify two. I wonder what the odd's are they'll make them in other paint schemes if this one does well? The 1/2000 SDF-1 made them think it was worth it to make a 1/3000 scale. Could it also be the case enough orders for this one will mean we see others?

I'm so anxious to see how this thing transforms. Looking at the mechanism in the back I still get the feeling it's relatively straightforward.

It doesn't need a gun pod. The whole point of the VF-4 was that all of its weapons are integrated. Note the cannons embedded in its forearms?

Who here was absolutely "Blown away" by the 17? It's biggest fan, Graham, said it was a step back in engineering. I think everyone said they had some issues with the caveat that it's a hell of a lot of fun to pose in Battroid. And that's the key term, it's a hell of a lot of fun to pose. That's the main goal with a toy and they got it. It's not 100% accurate to the lineart but the lineart can't even agree with itself so that was never a concern for me.

Provided it's not too back heavy that Battroid mode might be a lot of fun to pose. Though it does look like we're not getting those rotating shoulders like some of us had hoped. That may kill some of the fun. The legs are nice and free to move though.

Any word on how this mod is progressing? I've got another VF-0 on the way just for this.

I like the way you did the SDF-1 in that first pic.

Damn man, what do you use for lighting/camera/etc? These are amazing photographs. Also, you're down with the little no step stickers on the wings?

I've been scouring the internet today looking for any info. on the official price/pre-order/etc... for this thing. Has anybody found anything?

It has hands, so of course it could fire one. However in FB2012 it's not shown with one. In the VF-X games it's not shown with one. In the lineart we've seen it's not shown with one. I'm going to assume we're not getting a gunpod with this toy because the fighter is never shown with one nor is it necessary for it to function as a combat craft.
