Yamato/Arcadia Valks ARE niche already. Frontier does not speak for the rest of the series.

I do still have my Playmates one as well... What's funny is my ex-girlfriend's 8 year old kid didn't know anything about Macross/Robotech/etc... at all and his favorite out of everything I showed him was that little Toynami Regult. That and the VF-17... It seems like for something like the enemy mecha they need to find ways to cut costs, not make them more expensive. I'm sorry, I know some people really want to pose them opened up with soldiers piloting them but all of those "gimmicks" make it more expensive. A stripped down one with decent poseability is all I'd need. It would still be expensive because of the joints, but it doesn't need anything more than that. Then again I also want nousejadeul_ger's and Zent Battlesuits, etc... You'd think with some of these pretty poseable figma style figures they could stamp out some battle-armor for $40 or $50 that would look decent and be poseable.

It's almost as if it was set up to fail...
-
The solution to make it cheaper would be to skimp on some of the fancier aspects of it. Personally I don't need to be able to open thing up and look inside it. I'll never ever pose it that way. Leave the egg shell completely hollow. That does several things. Cuts down on cost of unnecessary parts inside. Cuts down on cost of tooling fancier parts. Cuts down on cost assembling unnecessary parts. And as we've already heard, cuts down on the weight up top the knees/ankles need to support.

Most of us had a chance to buy a kit... which most of don't build, and we passed. Important point to note there.

You obviously have no idea what niche means. Yamato, save for the VF-1 which has a following outside of the US, was producing toys from 20+ year old shows that were never legally released outside of Japan and weren't necessarily that popular within Japan at the time. The price has nothing to do with the product being niche. If that were true Hot Toys releases would be "niche" as well but the properties are all red hot around the world. You're speaking nonsense.

What are the feet/toes like? Would it be possible to add additional weight to the feet in order to offset the top-heaviness?
-
So they're not terribly pose-able, huh? The joints are loose and everything? That's too bad.
-
Man, that sucker is CLEAN! So nice looking. How pose-able is it? More pics, more! And have it battling some VF-1's too!!!

I feel like comparing Arcadia to Bandai is unfair for may reasons. Bandai largely only trades in the most recent, popular versions that are more likely to be sold in higher numbers and they're a MUCH larger company with their own production lines, ability to absorb losses, etc versus niche. Niche will never win that battle.

I don't feel like that's the strongest performance of Satellite DMB could have done. Oddly not very tight for them, but perhaps there were some monitors that were off or something.

Whether he's a wife beater or not Marvel continues their plan of hiring huge, A-listers to play... well, hell, Ant-Man isn't even up to D-List standards. Also, I wonder how many takes it took for the guy in that video to not burst out laughing while describing how Ant-Man defeated a colony of ants with his knowledge of Judo?
-
I wonder if there will be two versions of the shield like on the other 19 releases to address that?
-
Yeah, looks like the nubs on the arms stick out on the back end. But what does it have to do with the Fold Booster?
-
I know, I wish they used that ankle in the 19.

Way too much red going on in one spot like that. It makes Battroid look silly as well IMO.
-
I'm thinking that "purple" color must be a combination of the low level lighting in the photo combined with some different monitor settings. It's a dulled version of the more blue feet we've seen before (and I personally found the more blue color appealing.)
-
The placement of the red behind the canopy and up the fuselage where it meets the black stripes is an eyesore and doesn't flow IMO. It's this weird blotched mess in the middle of the Valk.
-
To be honest I don't like the "The 1st" schemes. There's too much red on the Hikaru one.
-
AWESOME! Can't wait for pics of those. I wanted to make both the SVF-13 and SVF-37 versions. Are you going to mod the arm armor so you can mount reaction warheads and/or additional gunpods to them like in the Master File book as well? We need more pics of that Lucky 7 too.

1/48+fp's, 1/60+fp's, 1/72, 1/2k, 1/3k,1/100 and now 1/144
Mommar replied to VF-18S Hornet's topic in Toys
Just because the fighter in Mac F spends most of it's time in space doesn't mean the design couldn't be used someplace else in atmosphere most of the time like all of the those Volan VF-5000 patrols that are atmosphere based. But then the argument becomes, are you really spending time worrying about drag on make-believe aircraft. -
Yeah, the wing folds right up against that part of the wing glove in Battroid mode. That might be why they chose to paint it instead.
-
I must say it's really too bad the models for the VF-1's are based off the old chunky monkeys as the footage/special effects of the Valks flying looks really cool otherwise.
-
This is a good start, thanks for scanning so many, but it isn't all of the schemes from the books. My number one pick would be the SVF-64 scheme on page 105 of the second book in the Insurrection of Fitz Roy section. But of the others in that list I'd pick #4, #15, #12 and #19.
