Are you going to buy and customize 8?

We'll see what's left when I wake up tomorrow morning. I don't do all-nighters for plastic planes anymore.

This is what we call the difference between a group of people who grew up in a Dojo versus a kid with no training fumbling around trying to figure out how to fight in a method who works for him.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 - Coming May 2, 2014
Mommar replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
For one thing, Toby Maguire is way too old to play Peter now. Two, he was okay when he was the only one who ever played Spider-Man but he really wasn't like Peter Parker or Spider-Man at all. Too emo as Peter, and completely silent as Spider-Man. Garfield was way better at both roles, he could still be a better Peter Parker but the energetic, wise-cracking Spider-Man he more than nailed.- 153 replies

I'm with Gubaba, it really shouldn't matter that much what the SDF-3 was. Robotech fans shouldn't care because The Sentinels already defines what the SDF-3 is so any supplementary Macross info. is irrelevant to that story anyway (other than most of them wish it was part of Robotech so there's more story/Valks/talent/etc...) For the Macross fans... well, we never even saw an SDF-2 on screen, let alone the SDF-3. One thing you did mention was that the SDF ships were all Megaroad ships as well? Isn't that like giving them ship two classifications at once? I actually never even thought about what might be an SDF vessel anymore. It's an interesting bit of psychology you've stumbled upon.

Star Trek Beyond (the not The Search for Spock)
Mommar replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
You need to have a message, you're confusing the "technobable" science used to solve problems for other higher concepts that aren't in these new movies at all.- 466 replies

So these people who are upset at this... what, revelation? What do they say is actually the SDF-3?

Star Trek Beyond (the not The Search for Spock)
Mommar replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
You avoided my point in favor of unnecessary snark. My point was that Star Trek was about something, not just mindless JJ effects bullshit. You could easily make a fast paced, modern, sci-fi looking/sounding Star Trek that is ACTUALLY ABOUT SOMETHING. Hell, look at the praise for movies like Birdman and Interstellar. Aren't both of movies about the human condition? Star Trek was about that and more but these past two movies, while flashy, aren't about a God Damned thing. And that's my problem with them. technoblue is partly right, the first movie showed promise (even if I have more than a dozen complaints about it.) The second movie showed us absolutely nothing. It was a waste of time by an idiot writer who can't come up with a complete thought and a director who knows nothing about telling a story about the human condition. JJ is all about selling sizzle, but he doesn't have a damn clue what a steak is. And with the director they've picked for the third Star Trek we're on our way to another flashy, lifeless nothing. But hey, people will pay to watch some more stupid so it must be an improvement!- 466 replies

Star Trek Beyond (the not The Search for Spock)
Mommar replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Two different things. Star Trek 2 is still considered the best film in the series by most Star Trek fans. That had action but it was done in a tactful and thoughtful way, it also had a morality play and a lot of other stuff from the original series. The new Star Trek has a lot of dumb action that is more in the vein of Star Wars, and goes on about idiotic mysterious destiny and crap like that. I don't think anybody in the fandom is opposed to action, they're opposed to making Star Trek something that it isn't.- 466 replies

STAR WARS Merchandise Episode - 2
Mommar replied to Black Valkyrie's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Oh man, I forgot to pre-order. Bet I can't get one now. -
I do find it amusing how much unanimous praise this version is getting over Arcadia's.
-
So they had to pick the week AFTER I'm off work for the pre-orders to start.

Star Trek Beyond (the not The Search for Spock)
Mommar replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
The reasoning for Justin Lin is retarded too, they want the movie to be more like Guardians of the Galaxy... so more f.u.c.k.i.n.g. Star Wars and NOT Star Trek. At least after Into Stupid came out Orci had said he wanted a harder Sci-Fi Star Trek(whether that was true or not I don't know.) Obviously he was overridden, so might as well step into producer mode and make some money off the next wreck.- 466 replies

I don't know. Was just curious. I'm not defending the wrong color, I'm disappointed it's changed from the correct color to something off. I don't know much about how factories work so I thought I'd ask about that.
-
Don't they also own their own factories where knowledge like that could be a mandatory requirement for workers as opposed to renting factory space and having to deal with whoever works there like Arcadia has to?

Hey Man, are we going to get some Merry Christmas SDF-1 Cruiser pics?

... you must not know what singing is, just because she can belt out high notes doesn't mean she can't or isn't singing. You may not like the sound of her voice but she's not yelling, that's a pretty classically trained high note she's hitting and sustaining, and it's impressive. Even the way she holds/moves her jaw is indicative of someone who has had massive amounts of training, and except for the exceptionally high note after the bridge she's making it look virtually effortless... not the sign of someone who is yelling.

I may not like Frozen (and according to my brother it means I have a cold, dead heart... which I maintain is in keeping the title of the movie) however I can't deny Idina Menzel has a rather incredible voice. I also find it amusing every time that part of the movie comes on my little niece tries as hard as she can to sing along.

I'll bet you're right, the factory guys don't know what they're doing. Obviously Arcadia had it right so they know what they were going for. Even though this is the "final" production model that doesn't mean they can't get back to the factory and ask them why they can't figure out the saturation... hopefully, anyway. It's not a bad color as is, but disappointing after the corrected photoshop pics.

No saggy neck though.
