  1. If it's not a new paint scheme I'm not interested.
  2. Yup, that's the same one I read that came off as the exact same criticism as JJ's Star Trek films. The difference being it's slightly more okay that a Star Wars film be like this. And suddenly George Lucas' comment, "the fans will love it" shows a sly backhand. If only his directing was that smart.
  3. Interesting, some of the reviews on rotten tomatoes that aren't as favorable describe the same sort of good and bad dichotomy the Star Trek films have been criticized for.
  4. Kylo Ren stands at Vaders height, huh? Too bad they'll be a tad undersized to go with any Hasbro toys. That means they'd better make some Figuarts Rey, Finn, etc... figures then.
  5. If only my companies firewall didn't do horrible things to nippon yasans website I'd check if they still have some troopers available... How odd, it will work with IE but not Chrome or Firefox at work. Either way, two of these suckers have been ordered. Thanks again Dangard!
  6. Two more up for May and June. I'm all over that drummer! http://news.toyark.com/2015/12/15/star-wars-movie-realization-stormtrooper-sh-figuarts-mace-windu-185199
  7. You're right, Branan and Braga messed up big time and you'll even hear Trek fans tell you that. Regardless, it still doesn't change the fact that new Trek "failing upward" isn't a valid argument. And don't assume I think Khan is the best movie, that's the fanboy favorite but it isn't the best film.
  8. Oh, I thought Episode 1 Obiwan was already released. I could see wanting him to pose with Darth Maul though I like his look from Episode 2 better. Of course you could always assume he wasn't cut in half in Episode 1 and make him fight Obiwan whole like they did in The Clone Wars instead. lol
  9. This argument... I am sick to death of this argument. Putting a nametag on a giant dick and telling me I should love it because it still has that name isn't proof of something being better. It made money, so frakking what? McDonalds makes money, it's not gourmet, it's actually quite crap. While Star Trek had been written into a corner by it's original creators it's very well possible to create something smart that also has more action and a faster pace, Star Trek still could have been Star Trek and been more exciting. We've seen numerous movies just this year that have pulled this off. Coming in here, as non-fans, and telling the old fans we should be happy that you now like the half-baked, POS JJ has put out and we should be grateful for it is insulting. Passing off a blow-up doll as your dead wife doesn't mean your wife has been saved.
  10. Eh, fans tweeting positive reactions isn't really an indication of anything. Fans would have tweeted super positive things after the release of the prequels as well. This one seems more objective. And telling, as it was something a lot of us here were worried about with JJ Abrams confusing retelling the same story for nostalgia. "STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS is ok. I know it's poetry, I know it rhymes, but does every line have to rhyme with the last poem?"
  11. Those aren't films, and they're actually not universally reviled. You'll get just as many opinions about Voyager or Enterprise being someone's favorite as you will TOS, TNG or DS9. Other than budgetary restraints people are far too harsh on Star Trek V... and that dumb flamenco scene with Uhura. It's just that after aping things, poorly, from Star Trek II in Into Darkness with Khan and a crew members death, etc. they've now decided to destroy the Enterprise in their third iteration... just like what they did in Star Trek 3. It smacks of the same issues present in Into Darkness.
  12. Yeah, ugh, I watched the trailer again and there's just so much stupid. The motorcycle because, hey, it's that guy who made The Fast and the Furious. Better put in a car stunt. And then the lame leap from the escape pod to the rock climbing handhold Scotty makes like it's suddenly Mission Impossible. And I can't tell if wrecking the Enterprise once and for all is because Simon Pegg wanted to find a way to erase that thing, Justin Lin couldn't figure out how to make a decent movie with star ships (and without motorcycles), or because JJ Abrams is still executive producer and hates Star Trek so he ordered The Enterprise destroyed once and for all just like his movies are destroying the franchise.
  13. Yeah, Captain Phasma has eluded me as well. Which Obi Wan are you looking for? Isn't he available? All of the Prequel stuff seems easy to come by.
  14. Sweet, man, thanks for the heads up. Wish I hadn't forgotten to pull the trigger on these when they were still at mykombini. I haven't nabbed a First Order Stormtrooper yet. I've almost considered trying a pre-order from ebay at this point. I did finally cave in and pay up front for one of the Riot Control Stormtroopers. I suppose it can double as a first order trooper if the shield is removeable and it comes with the same blaster.
  15. I don't know what you call it. The lighting, or cinematography, or whatever. But EVERYTHING looked terrible. Killing the Enterprise in the third movie is what they do. They killed the original one in the third movie as well. Hopefully to make way for a ship that looks better. I was hoping this movie would be better given Simon Pegg's involvement in the script, despite the fact the studio pushed back and didn't want as much Science Fiction as he was going for, but this trailer was completely unappealing to me as a Star Trek fan. And I'm not sure who it would appeal to, really. Independence Day 2 and TMNT were more appealing trailers to me.
