  1. Geez, how do you post more than one?
  2. Well, I just scanned Google. Must of what I found are either bad quality or what we've seen before. I'll post some of them just for brainstorming sessions. I like how its coming, but in the case of the Isamu pic on the spine, it doesn't match with the black of everything else.
  3. Actually, when I said video, I meant as in VHS, rather tight squeeze. Time to evolve to DVD then, my friend Why? I hear the disc looks like crap. I'd rather buy something new than waste money "upgrading" to an obsolete format on an easily scratchable disc. Better stop before I go off topic. But when the HD version comes out in a hundred years(at the current speed its going) I'll rebuy it. Why buy a grainey hard subbed disc when my tape looks fine? Sorry, DVD threads hit a nerve with me at times. They tend to make me rant.

  5. Hey guys, I think this whole box thing is great. I still haven't finished picking up the mini box sets yet(I only have #3), but if I can fit it in budget, I might try to pick one up. I'll spread the word. I'd love to get the M+ box, but I only have the movie on video, so even if I get the OVA on DVD, I'm afraid it won't fit. Oh well, I'll try to help if I can. The box seems to be shaping up. I have no real talent, but I combined the pyramids into one image, as by themselves it seems a bit plain. Nothing great, but what do you think?
  6. Personally, I didn't like it. Its one of the few such animes, but then, I don't like CG/Cel hybreds. I just don't see the point in them. CGI doesn't impress me as much as hand done work. Plus, the CG tends to be distracting to the plot. I tend to avoid Gonzo because of this OVA. Out of all the shows I've seen made by them, I've only liked full Metal Panic, as they take it easy on the CGI. There's still plenty of cheap animation in that one though. All in all, I'd like it better if it weren't such a blantant cry for attention. In all fairness, I did see it on Cartoon Network. So maybe the dub and edit didn't help. Its like how I'm not fond of current hit Witch Hunter Robin, though in that case, I'm going on two episodes.
  7. ID4 I consider a terrible movie. I was going to see it in theaters but waited for video as soon as I saw Fox's special, it looked that bad. I hate crap that exists purely to blow up monuments and show idiots screaming. I remember a guy writing to Cinescape back when I read it saying he saw no rip-offs and that it delivered "the same magic of Star Wars". Proof that most magazine letters are good for a laugh. The plot is War of the Worlds almost exactly. Aliens out of resources, humans defenceless, the bomb doesn't work, even the virus that saves mankind was lifted. There are plotholes the Macross could fly through. The only film I liked by the makers was Stargate and some of The Patriot. Sci-fi at its best sucks. I want Science Fiction. Other then that, I do agree that stoy is important overall, as well as good characters.
  8. The Serenity was in it? Man, that was another show that got pulled as I was getting into it along with John Doe. Another reason I don't watch much network TV.
  9. So all in all, there are three camps when it comes to remakes. The purests, who think the new should be a close carbon copy and hate all changes even if for the better. The "its just a movie " crowd AKA the ones with "lives", who think that changes should be made to rise above the original. The final camp being the middle ground, if its too close, what was the point, if its too different, why keep the name. I think I'm the third but I tend to be indecisive and contradictory, such is the pleasures on a Gemini with ADHD ;;;. There is technically the fourth, all remakes/sequels suck group, which is the extremist wing of the purests. Bottomline, if its profitable once, coat it with paint and a new wardrobe and send it around again. This is shown in remakes, sequels, DVDs, rip-offs and spin-offs. The Eva LA film will suck as an adaption and how Gunbuster will make it through a sequel I don't know. This cycle will never end, so we must learn to live with it.
  10. To start out, I'm a huge purest. Hell, I'm an analogue purest trapped in a digital world. I tend to however give these things a chance. I liked it. My dad got me into the original show, which I enjoy. This mini series does have its flaws, I'll admit. A lot of cliches like, "Forty more seconds" and such were used, rather well in most cases. I liked how they didn't throw the original ship designs in the garbage and instead reinvented them. That's better than starting from scratch because doing it this way is more Star Trek I:Directors edition than Star Wars:Special edition. They didn't tell Dykstra and crew, "you suck" in the process. I also liked the "floating camera in space" approach to effects. Thats something rarely done. Also, why the Cylons are our creation now instead of a lizard empire that uses machines to kill us I don't know. Thats been done to death with Terminator and the like. Yeah, I didn't like Apollo that much and a female Starbuck sucks as a character, spending most of the time complaining or in the brig, and what's up with the white Tigh? But still, I enjoyed it better than Sci-fi's other original pictures and look forward to the sequel(s) though what with the disappearence of "Legend of the Rangers" who knows if it will be made. I don't like Sci-fi keeping us in te dark of just when these continuations will come though. You got to admit, it was better than "Galactica 1980". What were they thinking when they came up with that. Yes, only the oldest crew member survives to reach Earth with no explanation as to the fate of the rest. Whatever.
  11. I was afraid someone would say that. Well, I have plenty of time to think about it. The garage needs cleaning out for my workspace, and I need new paints even. I may just bite the bullet and get it here as I never seem to get around to ordering things online. Any other model advice would be great by the way. Thanks.
  12. Hi everyone. I'm trying to get back into model building and was at my hobby shop the other day. They carry Japanese models and will even special order, but thats beside the point. They had three Macross Valkyries, VF-1A through S. I believe through the photos on this site that they are from Hasegawa and they wanted thirty six dollars for them. Is this a usual price or should I look elsewhere? These aren't common in Modesto, I know that much.
