No thanks, I'd rather have something new. While I wouldn't be totally against it if you can the CG, I don't see the point. The heart of the anime is the sum of it's parts. Changing the animation changes the look and feel of the show. It's like how so many people claim the the Special Edition didn't make Star Wars into a different film. It did, as the look, feel, and focus was changed in key scenes. Sure, the old Macross would still be around, but than you have to deal with a new division of the fans. I can hear it now, "You like the old version? Quit living in the past, the new one looks cooler."

MZero Ep. 5 *SPOILER THREAD*
Mercurial Morpheus replied to Agent ONE's topic in Movies and TV Series
Well, I just watched it (yes I tend to get behind on things, especially the more I care for it). I really enjoyed it. Sure, there were some "iffy" parts. Mao "appearing" before Shin was a little odd. I took it as figurative. More like he was seeing her, rather than her being there. Not a big deal. Nora's death was a little disappointing in that it was a wrong place kind of thing. However, it was fitting; and I liked how Ivanov snapped afterwards. I had no real qualms with the ending, outside of how Shin's plane suddenly dropping was a bit too "sight-gag". I liked the emotional impact of it, and basically, if something can get me that way, I'm pleased. The fight scenes were well done, and the CGI looked great(high praise coming from me). Yeah, the beginning's rushed, but everything works out well. For once, I actually thought the lead might die, as I could see it work. Over all, I really loved this series. I think I see a MZero/DYRL? marathon in my near future. -
Tim Burton's CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY.
Mercurial Morpheus replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Considering that he's done the rest of Burton's films to my knowledge, and the fact that the above poster has he's name on it, I'd say the chances are high. Personally, I've always loved the old film. Only Burton could redo it, as I love his work. If anyone can out-do Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka, Depp's the man. I'm definately looking forward to this one. -
Minmay never looked so good. Definately an awesome job. Minmay showing off her legs in a chinese dress, that's some great stuff.

My toughts exactly. Though I have seen the old Disney carttons that were similar, this just screams: Chevron with Techron - The Movie.

I saw it a couple hours ago, and loved it. The characters work, the plot works, the pacing was neither too fast nor too slow, even the look is right(and I'm not one to intently love the look of something CGI). I've enjoyed all the Pixar films, this, Monster's Inc. and Toy Story II are my favorites of theirs. I've seen some of Shark Tale, and just thought everything didn't mesh. The jokes are easily going to be dated quickly. I skipped Shrek 2 as I didn't like Shrek. This is just a great film, and much better than the director's previous "The Iron Giant"(the ending just ruined that film). Even if Cars sucks(too Chevron-like in the preview), this still would make up for it. The weren't kidding, it really is Incredible.

Nami Tamaki - Gundam Seed
Mercurial Morpheus replied to Protoplast's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
She's not bad. I saw her in concert at Fanime. She had the shortest set, and was outshined by Duel Jewel in my view. -
Watch the 26 episode series, then End of Eva. You can skip D&R, it's just a recap, with no real new info. The director cut is worthless, as the Platnium Edition will have the same stuff. Personally, I'm not even picking up that. The DC doesn't add that much.

Doh! I accidently copied the previous link again. Note that the pics load horribly. I'm on a very high speed connection and I had to try multiple times. If too many can't get them, perhaps I'll try posting the ones that are the most problematic. Fixed Gunbuster comparison link. Also there's a seven minute trailer for the game. Shame that there's little chance of it getting released her. Has footage from both OAVs. Direct link to PS2 trailer

There's the Literal Translation Series. You'd have to re-write it though. I'm not sure what else is available. Literal Translation Series - Gunbuster Also, comparison pic of the remaster have been posted. Like the Eva remaster, it looks like they jusy mostly upped the brightness and darkened the contrast. Though there appears to be a nice reduction of rainbow artifacts. I'm also intrigued by the open-matte version of episode six. I'm sure the actual picture looks better, as I didn't think much of the Eva remaster until I saw the R2s. Though I might actually buy this if I have the chance. I've already spent way too much on Eva. Gunbuster old VS Renewal

I agree wholeheartedly. Gunbuster is my all time favorite out of the hundreds of titles I've seen. I too love oldschool anime. So don't think me some guy who only likes Gonzo shows, and doesn't give a damn. I do. It does have a lot to live up to. That said, because of how Gunbuster became and is my favorite, I know that this sequel will be just another show. My point is, when it's so obvious that no one wanted a sequel, nor will they ever see it as an equel, is there any point to bitching about it constently. Now whenever we bring up Gunbuster, do we also have to throw in"Aim for the Top 2 sucks" and "Shame on Gainax". Like the Star Wars prequels, I'll just sit back and judge this with the rest of anime, and stop expecting it to be the greatest ever. It's just another show, it doesn't reflect the original in any way. It's not going to hurt it, only bring it into the limelight. Maybe now people might know what I'm talking about when I tell them what my favorite is. There's five more episodes, there's bound to be something you'll like.

Thanks for the info. I definately woundn't mind seeing Go Lion either. It sucks that so many old shows are still stuck in their cut form.

More Shadow Force news
Mercurial Morpheus replied to 1st Border Red Devil's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
And you can now? Even recent character designs tend to look alike. Mikimoto happens to be one of my favorite character disigners. As for Shadowforce........... -
Advent Children Action Figures
Mercurial Morpheus replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Damn, those look noce. Bahamut doesn't look like Bahamut, but the design's pretty sweet. -
I know that. I'm just curious if an unedited version is available.

Good to know.

They won't list anything remotely rumored to be licensed. Either they refer to the Best Video release, or they assume HG really does have it.
-
Like I said before, I've found a single typo(I was spot checking it last night). Right near the start of part 2, Hikaru says: "But with if it gets intercepted by the enemy." I assume "with" should be "what".
-
I agree on the video. I didn't realize how colorful this film was with the crappy old rips I have.
-
Ditto, I can't stand Emule. If it makes you feel better, I had to install get right to finish this, and was stuck at 70k/s until I remembered to switch to 4 segments. There's a typo at the start of part two. Hikaru: But with if it gets intercepted by the enemy. Still, it's a superb release for those who don't want to bother with getting the FX disc.
-
Yeah, but I prefer my direct download at 300k/sec.

two more days till Macross Zero ep-5 release
Mercurial Morpheus replied to treatment's topic in Movies and TV Series
That reminds me, I still haven't finished watching number four yet. -
I picked up three videos for free of this, just to check it out. Has Space Battleship Yamato been released over here? I can't remember.

LOL New PS2 game that must be seen!
Mercurial Morpheus replied to Ghadrack's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
What will they think up next? I'd play that, just so I could say I've played something like that.
