NEWS FLASH: Ebichu Licensed!
Mercurial Morpheus replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
ROTFL I hear Wannabe has a shut down MPAA page up now. -
I love that song too. I found the MP3 once, but I can't remember what disc I burned it on. It's pretty rare.

Personally, i think this shot in particular works better in widescreen. In the widescreen version, the focus is entirely on her face. The open version has so much around her face(her knees and arms, so on). It's more focused original. It's also not the same as a 16:9 film cropped to 4:3. In that, you're losing footage the director intended to be seen. Here you're gaining footage that wasn't meant to be seen. In both cases, the look and feel of the shot can change. The focus can be lost. I wouldn't call it minor either. There are quite a few shots where one can tell where the matte goes. Just flipping though it I saw plenty of unfinished backgrounds. From carpets and walls that just blur out to a picture that disappears halfway down. It's understandable that they would cut corners like this, but it gives things a rough look. i'll have to really watch it to see just how much it affects the overall feel. Basically, the open-matte is a nice opertunity to see a different take on Gunbuster six, but I'll probably still watch the widescreen. This one's my favorite so far. The tabls gone mysteriously transparent, and Jung and Noriko are missing their bottom halves. This just looks odd.

Interestingly enough, someone did rip one of the HK sets. ILA released three episodes recently. Shame they barely fixed the subs. It looks like all they fixed was some names. The translations aren't as engrishy as some of ASS' work, but subbing "Vanessa" as "Bulox"? Fortunately, they're soft subs. Just rip the subs out in Virtual Dub, fix what you want, then readd them.

Well, that fansub group plans on releasing the science lessions as well. They've just found someone who provided a better raw for number 2 and the real episode six. Here's the discussion thread. Gee, can you guess which poster I am? http://forum.digitalpanic.net/index.php?showtopic=5407 Thanks for posting them Noriko. I see they predate Sailor Moon S(observation made due to lack of subs ). Cute moments though. Any ideas as to why the endings slightly different for the open-matte?

Ah, so it wasn't a mistake. I haven't watched the episode myself, but chances are I'd prefer the widescreen anywhy. Though I did miss the sudden change to color when I previewed it. It just added so much in the scene. I actually can't believe some would want the episode in full color. Apparently they don't actually have the DVDs. As such, they don't have raws for the widescreen version of six nor the second science lession.

The Horizon looks good, CG wise. The rest need work. The SDF-4 looks why too cel-shaded for my tastes. I hate when they use that technique. It's meant to hide the CG and all it does is draw attention to it more often than not. -

Good to know something happens. I'm still on episode six and am finding it horribly redundant. It's like the first five we're the same episode with a somewhat different story structure. Nice pic lord_breetai, though Janice looks considerably too menicing to remind me of Honey. She looks like the type that would gut you for calling her such. -
Where ELSE For Star Wars Discussion?
Mercurial Morpheus replied to Hurin's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Yep. It's a full SW discussion site. It just favors the original trilogy, that's all. It welcomes PT gushers and bashers a like, though there is a slight downplay on the PT. Then again, if you wanted a forum for just people who love the PT, there are plenty of those. Like I said, it's a pretty well rounded, lightly moderated forum. -
Where ELSE For Star Wars Discussion?
Mercurial Morpheus replied to Hurin's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Personally I'm fond of the forums at Original Trilogy.com. It's the only Star Wars forum I go too. My s/n's Klingon Jedi. Since it's focus is on the original version of the OT, the people there are a bit more understanding of fan preferences. I've seen people get chewed out and banned for saying something like, "I hate Rontos" on TF.N. On OT, if you back up your opinion, and respect that of others, you're fine. No need to fear pissing off the fan base. We're not just anti-SE either. Several members enjoy the SE seperately, while others prefer it, but understand why others don't. It's not the most active out there, but it is a pretty friendly, laid back board. I think I've only seen one person ever get banned, and he was quite the trouble maker. Original Trilogy forums -
I listen to a lot of soundtracts. I like classical, and orchestrial/instrumental music. I also enjoy Apocalyptica, ES Posthumus and a lot of classic rock like Pink Floyd. I most listen to soundtracts though.

Wow, to think the novel is already leaked. Man, MF gets all the good stuff, even if their forums not all that great. -
Yeah, I've seen them. I was at a Wherehouse the other day that marked it like an actual Remaster set. 20 bucks for an episode. amzing the mistakes some people make.

Robotech.com to go down
Mercurial Morpheus replied to Britai 7018's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
It does sound like merely a server change. I finally made Corporal over there(how, since I'm here more than there I don't know). It would suck to finally get that promotion then have the whole site gone. -
Fight on, Mighty Guntank! That was great. There is, what, a 50th version of A Cruel Angel's Thesis now? Guntank covered in blood, who'd have though it. Thanks for the link. I must spread it to other forums like all the other funny stuff I find here.

Dune Extended Version DVD in May
Mercurial Morpheus replied to Otaku-Smeghead's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Since this version is one of the rare times I saw an extended before an original, I wouldn't mind getting this. It's enough of a change to warrent rebuying a film. -
That's evil man, just plain evil. Thanks for the link. One of the funniest things I've read in a while.

Wow, that's just plain stupid. He hits it with a hammer after freezing it and wonders why it won't work?
