  1. I'm about to begin work on my MG Qubeley, finally. I also need to repair my Aestivalis.
  2. My fondness for Kallen has just doubled. Which is good since she's one of my least favorite characters. As cruel as they've been to the girls lately, they always allow them a moment for awesomenes. Suzuka really needed some sense knocked into him. Coupled with his talks with Shirley and Anya, he might come around yet. I really loved Lelouch's phone call at the end of the episode. It's such a turn for him. It's also interesting seeing CC this way. It looks like it was a good thing for Lelouch. Regular CC probably could've not cared less. Finally, Kudos to Sunrise for correcting the mistake on my beloved Shirley's casket. The girl got her year back. Hopefully they'll fix the video version of 14 to match.
  3. Oh, it happens in anime too. Though usually not so pronounced, or they start normal, go high, then fall. Usually they claw back up too. Mitsuki's one, definitely. Asuka too.
  4. "Ah yes Mitsuki Hayase was a great character but misunderstood by so many." For once, I think we truly agree, Westlo. I once wrote a huge piece on her to defend against such an attack.I actually won the other guys respect for it. "think it has a lot to do with the age range of people watching anime too..." I think it has more to do with the handling of the time skip. My sister loved her too, then they showed her dating Takayuki with no setup. Most people who hate her got colored by that into viewing her as a man stealing tramp. The damage going so far as to have them ignore the circumstances behind it, and the many years she waited. They acted like it was all, "Whoo Hoo, my best friends in a coma, time to get MY man." Which of course is despicable, but couldn't be further from the truth. I don't read spoilers. I'm merely going with what the preview gave us. It could be Brera, but the focus was on Ozma. Whether he's severing ties or what, I don't know. He just seems so ripe to die, especially given the measure Ranka just took to try to protect him. On a somewhat unrelated note, curse you for having me return to myanimelist. I'd forgotten how ridiculously over thorough it was. I also love how I have over 400 views over the course of two years with a mere two titles (out of the hundreds I've actually seen) listed. What...The...F*ck... Though looking at your list, we should get along a lot better than I think we have...
  5. The Japanese have always loved stories depicting immortality as a curse rather than a blessing. Nothing new. I sort of like how CC didn't want to burden Lelouch with it. It would kind of suck to gain such after just about everyone you cared about ends up dead through your actions.
  6. BD is the official it appears. My computer drive is labeled BD as is it's playback software. BluRay Disc, I guess. Still better than the lame DVD.
  7. Ah, so the new version is out. I guess I don't have to do that fan edit I was considering.
  8. It is a nice turn, though not entirely uncommon. I's the "oh, how the mighty have fallen" or, "the bigger they are, the harder they fall". If you like that, check out some Greek tragedies maybe. The fact that she was being used (as Ranka is now) is interesting. I wouldn't call Ranka's a Cinderella story, despite their use of the term. At least, not in the true sense of the term. She's developed a use, and the powers that be are manipulating it to their favor. She's a pawn, they all are. It seems she's even been one since birth. Ranka has that in common with Sheryl now. Though she scored a few points in allowing her song to be warped in such a way for the sake of Alto and Ozma. I'm not sure i like what they did with the heart of it (though the score to it is bloody awesome). I loved the nose art too, though Ranka's a little to kid sister for me to fully appreciate it. Episode 17 is spelling doom for Ozma, which should affect her immeasurably. As for what they'll do with Sheryl, your way is quite plausible in many ways. Though I don't see her getting weepy, except in maybe a sudden tearful dropping of her defenses. A total, full of herself moment (and she is indeed full of herself, she even admitted it, if in jest), where she suddenly stops the games and comes straight out is a scenario I could see them using. I can also see her acting rashly in a defensive way, as she tends to do such (how many, "how dare you" moments has she had with Alto not?). She's very impulsive, she I can see her causing trouble. I don't think she's going to be very friendly with Ranka, not like she was underneath anyway. She strikes me as a girl of many faces and persona. I haven't determined whether she's a strong woman that hides behind a sarcastic, playful demeanor to those close, or the more common tenderness hidden behind fierce, protective will. Which is the mask? Maybe it's a mix. Her recent actions suggest a very headstrong, but very insecure woman that needs to feel, well, needed. It obvious that nothing makes her feel better than being important. She also knows how precarious her position is, otherwise so wouldn't be so irked by Ranka's new found success. I say the sarcasm is a front, and her actually persona is pretty much the opposite of what she projects. That's not to say she's weak, but she's probably not as confident or secure as she had people believe. Describing her as such sort of makes me want to equate her to Mitsuki Hayase from Kiminozo. A character I absolutely adore due to her utter realism, but most people seem to revile. Though Mitsuki was utterly dependent on the mask of strength she hid behind, and then the guy she loved after she shed it and became the real, sweet, soft her. Hence it was absolutely crushing when it seemed like he was leaving her to the point that severing all ties was the only way to go on. While I think some of her strength is very real unlike Mitsuki, Sheryl still seems very dependent on the status quo, even if she knew she was being used, and not as strong as she'd have people believe. Having Ranka replace her is definitely going to cause fireworks. They may end up playing her as Alto being the only thing she has left. Amusingly, while I hate how she's played the triangle so far, if she does turn out to be Mitsuki-esque, I'll probably like her a lot more, as her actions will have great motivation. Though I'm a sucker for Tsundere types anyway. Strong, yet vulnerable. Episode 16 has got me thinking about her. They've definitely fixed some of the irks in her personally. I never could buy that cold pro to carefree teen bit from early on. too damn inconsistent. So the writings improved. I wonder if that makes Ranka Haruka? She is the maturing character type. Gaining confidence and such. Does that mean Alto's like that indecisive wuss Takayuki who's "I have to have both" act ended up hurting both girls. I hope Alto isn't like that kind of scum. ;;; "You mean she's also Dr. Doom + Doombots as well!?" Yes. Basically, a puppet master. Who knows though. It's a heck of a conspiracy.
  9. Nope, I voted for mainly because she's become a heck of a lot more interesting in the shadows than the more predictable others. She's also way more interesting now than when you voted for her. Given that, it's better than voting for them all, since I won't vote Sheryl or Ranka. Indeed. Though we don't know if see is merely an AI. There could very well be a real Grace. At least, at one time or another. So could just be controlling replicas of herself from Galaxy. Oh, and you forgot backup power generator. Nice to know you still view Sheryl objectively, Mike_S_6. It helps me to know such. I agree that the characters, while good, could be better. So much has gone into the triangle, but not enough into it's participants. Even Sheryl's a tad blah for me, as her character does seem a tad forced (rewatching her early scenes did help immensely, but the damage is done). Though her recent jabs at Ranka were more in the character first established,so they're correcting it. I can't say I particularly like that side of her either. She can be rather underhanded (the whole birthday bit was horrible in terms of friendship with Ranka though). It seems in matter of the heart, Ranka is naive, but learning (she did push back instead of back down in 15), and Sheryl won't pull any punches, even when up against a friend, though she's starting to see her as a rival. So she does have a bit of a sugar on the outside and spice on the inside persona, which was horribly out of balance writing concerned for most of the show. It's improving though. Her fandom tends to overblow her even. The recent Fairy 9 thing does hint at a somewhat satisfying back story though that might explain her better. Is it true she was intended as a bit player? It would explain somethings, as seems sort of obvious in her poor or perhaps convenient fleshing out. If so, it makes me wonder if she was originally going to die on Gallia IV. If you don't mind my asking, what would be Sheryl deal breakers for you? Ranka's plodding along, and developing well though, if by numbers, and Alto's pretty decent with his "I hate my dad" motivations. The characters are likable if nothing else, and if Hellsing TV has taught me anything, Sheryl or Ranka could have no depth whatsoever and people would still love them. Particularly Sheryl. So yeah, Grace is probably the most interesting at the moment if only because we have no clue what she's up to. Though Inoue's voice helps and I still love that line as done by Lunar, "Hatrid will burn in its infernal glory".
  10. Geez, how many of these do we need? I still like them all. Though I'm still unsure on Sheryl (refresher course helped a lot though), and Ranka's becoming a bit of question mark. I think the stupid debates and fan posturing between them are killing both characters for me, especially Sheryl. For the fun of it, I'm going to vote Grace, as she's become rather interesting, and had some great lines. Kudos to the person that voted Cathy. she gets next to no love (though being a bit character, that's to be expected I guess). As for results, I expect Ranka to do better, but it'll stay mostly the same otherwise. People get set in their ways, particularly halfway in no matter what the development. So barring any major plot change, I don't see many converts happening. Sort of how my early stigma towards Sheryl is partly the reason why I'm not gaga over her.
  11. I can cut them exactly with any number of programs, free or pay, encode them precisely, and send them to my phone via a million-times-faster-than-bluetooth data cable, no draconian iTunes required. PCs are amazing and wonderfully flexible when it comes to just about anything. ^_- Now that I've got that out of my system... Which version, any particular part, and length or quality preferred? The kb limit would be more helpful, so I'll base it off your file. What phone do you have, Hornet? They're all different. Easiest methods would be data cable, memory card, and finally bluetooth. I need to reinstall.
  12. Try the guides at doom9.org for DVD. The PS3 can play back mp4 formats if I recall, and there's tons of guides a google search away. Either method will result in a hit in quality though.
  13. I fail to see how that makes me appear like I haven't seen FB2012, nor thinking the MR1 small. I've seen it multiple times actually, and am aware how big the ship is. I was merely saying I never thought of them as not being able to hold their own.
  14. I suppose so. Maybe it's the lack of mention of a mass produced Macross beforehand that throws me off. You'd just think they wouldn't be in service either given the number of new fighters already. That, and it's sort of portrayed as a colony ship for research expeditions. So pardon my confusion. Megaroads always struck me more as escorts of island ships like we see with the New Macross. I also get the dramatic effect thing (I know full well they were launched then), but it still could've been done better. Thanks for the imput, but please take a chill pill.
  15. Ah, so you're saying that it could be that they didn't list short range fleets (except Megaroad-004, which found Eden according to the prologue). That makes some sense. I'm still getting used to the Compendium's new layout. According to it, there's a whopping eleven year gap between the Megaroad-13, the supposed last in the line, and the M1.
  16. Hmmm? The Compendium only lists 13 known Megaroads, then the NM class is introduced. I assumed it meant start of colonization as well, except that the date starts to change with Eden. It too was listed 2012, then counts up as soon as it's fleets launch, along with Earth. It gives the impression of a real time timeline, suggesting that they where all launched in 2012. Something we know isn't true. It just seems confusingly contradictory. It starts by showing: Megaroad-01 Megaroad-02 Megaroad-04 Megaroad-06 Megaroad-09 Megaroad-13 Macross-001 Macross-003 Macross-005 Macross-007 M-Frontier Obviously, this can't be real time, as Eden shows the launch of M-Galaxy Macross-006 (M7 lauched before M6 as the prelude depicts, despite launching in 2038, she is the 7th, not the 8th) Macross-009 Macross-015 Macross-018 Macross-020 Macross-023 ? and at least two, maybe three Macross-017. Either parallel fleets, or a mistake. Maybe they did combine sister ships into one fleet, explaining the omission of ships. That, or listing close to forty fleets on screen would be too much clutter. Anyway you slice it though, the prelude is royally messed up in it's presentation thanks to the poorly thought out clock. And this still doesn't explain where the heck ships like the Global came from outside of, "Hey, lets depict the Macross in an episode and just claim she's a sister ship" Maybe there were 17 Macross class ships built alongside the Megaroads. I haven't watched all of M7, so where are you getting the info on M1 and M5? It could be that "colonial expedition" might not just refer to colony ships but also to research ships like the Global. if so, then M7 could still be the 37th, despite being the 7th in her class, and the 20th overall. Either that, or Megaroad 14-30 sure weren't worth mentioning. Heh, I came in here wondering about a lone vessel, now I wonder about whole fleets. Nice one, Kawamori. Only fans wonder about ten seconds of throwaway back story.
  17. Given Frontier's peculiar opening diagram, the SDF-04 would most likely be the Megaroad-03, which isn't even listed. The Megaroad-04 is, and is shown as SDF-005, the apparently discoverer of Eden. They also show Megaroad-13, listed as SDF-014. The New Macross class appear to be listed as NMCV-0xx (Frontier being 025, Galaxy as 021). Strangely, Frontier is shown launched first from Earth in the opening, the only named Macross (shown as M-Frontier) with M-Galaxy being launched from Eden. i find it amusing this discussion came up, as i brought it up at the same time in 15's talkback.
  18. Could be. Awesome avatar by the way.
  19. I mentioned when i posted it that i cut them long. My phone has it's limits too, and doesn't even play it all. Anyone wanting to use them need merely tell me your size limit, and I'll see what i can do. Though I'm on a new PC, and my audio editing equipment isn't up yet. I don't use Garageband (I'm on a VAIO after all), but it couldn't cut it done or scale the size? Requests are still open, just tell me your limits. What phone do you use Dervish?
  20. True. I think it'd be awesome if Galaxy was modeled after San Jose, being the capital of Silicon Valley, and a nice extension of the SJ/SF rivalry. Geez, can you guess my hometown? I think Cathy would slap you for that VFTF1.
  21. Yeah, born out of a culture that didn't know how to repair anything. I find it amusing this discussion was also started in the episode 13 thread at about the same time. Checking the compendium, what we get is this: 2012-2030? - Megaroad class, 13 ships in total. Names unknown, but probably all called Megaroad. 02 and 03 are launched in 2014, with one or two launched every following year. The Global is no Megaroad. 2030-present - New Macross class, 13 built so far. All named Macross plus a number (i.e. Macross 7). Macross 5 was apparently Zentran built, so it was a variation. That's it. The only Macross class listed are the SDF-01, and SDF-02 which was modified during construction into the new, larger Megaroad class. Checking Frontiers own recap, it makes it appear as if several fleets were launched in 2012, including Frontier!!! They list Megaroads and Macross', all numbered, with Megaroads designated SDFs, except for Frontier. The Macross' are labeled as New Macross class though. It's interesting to think that Frontier and her Quarter have been to service for 47 years. Amusingly, she's listed on closeup as a "New Macross" class, as is Galaxy. So the only thing i can think of is the the date merely is the start date, not the launch date for everything leaving it. If it were, Frontier was built 18 years before the class was introduced. If true, someone messed up horribly. The problem though is that it lists Eden discovered in 2012, and only after it shows fleets launched from it does the time pick up, suggesting that those earth vessels were in fact launched in 2012, as the Earth year advances with Edens. This would be either a huge mistake, or a retconning. That, or maybe they retrofitted all Macross class ships, except the Global, with New Macross classes as they came available. Though doing such in deep space... The only thing I can think of is the the Global was built either alongside or prior to the Megaroad class, hence why it's referred to as first gen, and was used for smaller expeditions, and non-colonizing missions, hence it's non-mention in 7 or the opening recap. The class just has amazing longevity, as I just can't see why they'd continue an old model unless it lent itself better to such services. The ship's old, damn old. The Galaxy originated on Eden. Interestingly, it's designated NMCV(?) 21, meaning it was launched before Frontier (NMCV 25), yet the diagram says otherwise. The only thing that makes sense is if they merely showed all fleets launched from Earth, regardless of when, and only went realtime when Eden entered the picture. Either way, it's sort of retarded. I think I just came upon a new bug for that thread. I think they figured it was onscreen so briefly that no one would catch it.
  22. Case in point. Thanks, Gubaba. She is far superior, at least physically. Though I like Cathy for that quite a bit as well... (hurray for superfluous shower scenes, a Macross tradition since 1982) "From my observations as a neutral (not biased towards either Ranka or Sheryl) seeing how the story is progressing, Ranka will win Alto's heart...but...they will not end up together." You're getting that kind of vibe too, eh?
  23. Misato drove a Renualt if memory serves. It could just be that Frontier likes to build things influenced by the past. Much like how they replicated SF.
  24. Ah, so it was something I missed. I must've been more tired than I thought when I watched that episode. Though it does reek of "convenience". Thanks. Originally the Megaroad 1 was built as the SDF-2. Supposedly a bigger version of the Macross. But the war delayed it's construction. When Global had unveiled his colonization plan he had the SDF-2 rebuilt as a even bigger colony ship. So UN Spacy did have the capacity to build SDFs. Only the Global is a mass production version with the transformation feature. These SDF Macross class ships became the precurssor to the New Macross Class. Though we don't have the specs yet if the Global is 1200 meters like the Macross or 1620 meters like the SDF-2 was supposed to be. Trust me, I know well about the Megaroad/Megalord. It doesn't surprise me that the UN Spacy would be able to produce MP Macross' either. What does surprise me was that they're apparently still in use, and postdate the Megaroad-01. All the little recaps about the colonization process list MR-01 as the forebearer. It just strikes me as odd that a mass production version wouldn't be based on the Megaroad, or the New Macross-class in M7. it would be like them building new B-17s for the air force (which would be awesome, however unlikely). I'm basing it off the M7 recap, but it seems to imply there were only two classes of colony ship, the original Megaroad class, and it successor, the New Macross class. This ship looks like the original Macross, neither MR nor NM. Unless you mean the Battle 7 was different from the New Macross class. Maybe Macross classes were cheaper to build and used for smaller expeditions. 117 was a research mission after all. It just seems strange that such an antiquated design is still in use, given the evolution of the colony ships as detailed at the start of M7, and Frontiers even more modern style (Macross Quarter). looks like a Compendium visit is in order.
  25. While I don't read any interviews, I do believe I was the first to mention this parallel. Not the first to see it, given the fanart i posted at the time, but at least the first to mention it here amidst all the Ranka=Minmay, Sheryl=Misa bits. At least, among the first. That was also more on their relative positions in society and their views on career and social lives too, not personality. Neither girl is much like Minmay. though if i had to choose, Sheryl is more closer to me. As a huge fan of Misa, I can also say that I too don't really see how Sheryl is anything like her, unless you really either stretch it or break it down to truly basic levels. About the only thing they have in common is their extreme workaholic nature and the worry that the guy they like might be drifting for another. So elements are there, but she's no Misa. One could just as easily grab random elements from Misa and put them to Ranka if they wanted. Also, if you can't see how silly it looks to write something like "/facepalm" instead of an actual retort or a even a perfectly acceptable simple "...", especially when it's not the given you seem to see it as, coupled with a near flame of accusing people they don't get it because they interpret differently from you, well... VRTV1's Sheryl, while extreme, is pretty close to actual Sheryl, if only at face value. If you're going to act like that, please go back to Asuki where they seem to encourage that sort of thing. It's just petty, no offense. You're better than that. Oh, and before you accuse me of being Ranka biased, I happen to like both characters, though, as much as I like her, I do think Sheryl gets way more read into than Ranka. She's still pretty superficial at the moment, and Ranka's not much better. At the moment, Grace seems to be the most interesting character even. A lot of these character debates are heavily dependent on PoV, it seems. As for the actual poll, to be honest, I could care less about who he winds up with, and more about what the deal is between the girls. I thought the whole q-1 thing killed Ranka's chances, but now it seems Sheryl is Fairy-9, so it's balanced out. I also find it amusing that some of the more hardcore Sheryl fans don't see Ranka as a threat, when she is obviously starting to. The gloves are coming off, and she's becoming a bit more underhanded. I think I'm going to vote Ranyl/Sherka on this, as it seems to me that both girls will be rather important to him in the end, barring one going completely yandere on us (which would be awesomely dark, and really mess with the fandom). it's always kind of funny to see how staunchly people defend their girls whether it's warranted or not.
