Macross in the weirdest places

However cool this all is, it still doesn't beat the Mucha inspired art found in a men's room years ago. -
Why Alto must hook up with Sheryl *spoilers*
Mercurial Morpheus replied to ssfsx17's topic in Movies and TV Series
Oh, did they finally fix that discrepancy? It's interesting how many times they've revised her in that episode, let alone the episode itself. I still need to watch Yakk Deculture fully. I know they restored the whole good opening plus the sleep mumbling. Maybe I'll go with that version for my rewatch. -
Verizon's a bitch when it comes to this stuff. As for a good mp3 phone, I'm really liking my Sony.

Saying can constitute as a spoiler!

Same with Sheryl on the good and bad. I thoroughly disagree that her bad sides are prominent right now. As for Sheryl, I agree with what Mike_s_6 pointed out, most after her downfall was good. Ranka may not stand out as much, but she's still been a wonderfully developed character. The same can't always be said of Sheryl, particularly in the beginning, while they were busy reworking her into the show apparently, if what that interview says way true. Though she has improved. Let's not get into, shall we please. It's negatively impacted me enough, sort of coloring the recent good parts of Sheryl (ironic, isn't it, when things are getting better and all), and another couple of boards I've been on are acting rather asinine, so I'm in a bit of a sour mood, and don't need that affecting my views of Sheryl or Ranka.

Interesting thoughts. I agree actually about the Rounds. It just seemed a bit wonky. I still feel it's the impending actions of Schneizel which is pushing lelouch to extreme measures. He was never the type to order absolute loyalty. It works with the story when some thought was put into it, but it does have a rushedness to it. Gino's alive purely to relate to Kallen. Plain and simple.

Well, it's nothing all that shocking, though I agree some might not have come to that conclusion.

Thanks for the input. I've been trying to put that in myself. Every phone also tends to have a filesize limit imposed by a carrier. I'm using a Sony Ericsson W580i from ATT, and it won't take anything over 500kb. My friend has an unlocked one, and it'll take anything. Here's Bobby's Ninjin. It's not as much of a lost cause as Nyan Nyan. First one is the first verse for those that like Ranka bubbly. Second is the end for those that prefer his manly passion! Cool, but those are massive! Even my phone wouldn't take those, and it has a generous limit. How'd they get that size? The audio i ripped from the video for Nyan Nyan and Ninjin wasn't even 900k. Not bad cleanup. Here's my attempts. I tried enhancing Nyan Nyan. It's pretty much a lost cause. Sorry if it's a bit tinny. Nyan_Nyan___Bobby.mp3

He really said nothing we don't already know.

That's pretty much what i thought. Galaxy doing something with Frontier being the test subject.

To be honest, I thought it looked bloody awful, but to each their own I guess.

I agree with that. She probably doesn't want to abandon them given their current mental state. Someone's got to hold the fort down. What was the answer to Michel's tombstone? I'm like you in that I don't enter the fray until after subs (heck until after I can't be entirely bittered by whatever messed up debate is going on ;. On second thought, looks like I missed Wolfx's post. As amusing as that might be, can we please leave Asuki's stuff on Asuki?

I could try to clean them up a bit. For a ringtone, it should be fine. I had no idea VLC could be used in such a manner. Maybe because I use MPC for FLVs. As for acquiring them, I use Download-Helper. It works quite well, and will even name the file for you. For extracting the audio, I use FLVextract. Its a really simple program to use. Just drag and drop.

I would click on this when I'm trying to fall asleep. I find it interesting that this discussion is even occurring to be honest. As I'm tired, excuse me if I'm not representing myself properly or not responding to your thoughts fully. Oh, I've never claimed that she was a great character. Often characters like her are given to the shadows and left to be the mysterious threat. Sure, they could've done more, but development isn't entirely all backstory and change. Cowboy Bebop was a good example of this. Like I said, we know enough to relate her to things. Understanding a character's personality and motive is just as important, and that understanding is not entirely dependent on knowing everything there is about them. Call it getting a feel for the character, if you will. Could she be better developed? Yes. Would that strengthen her as a villain, maybe, maybe not. There are weaker developed villains than her. Heck, even Leon is less of a character than Grace at times. I agree with your analysis, but at the same time think that she's got enough going into what purpose she serves. As long as it doesn't ferel out of place or inappropriate, it still works. Are you arguing that it's wrong to find such a character interesting? What exactly are we arguing about? First impressions are important, and can color one's views whether they know it or not. Particularly depending on the course of development. Of course opinions can change with time and development. Though a lot of people in anime fandom seem to make up their minds early or stick to key things. I know that first hand from all the loathing of Mitsuki Hayase due to poor presentation and people sticking to it. So, yes, imprinting isn't everything, otherwise I'd be wondering how such a nice seeming Plain Jane could be so twisted. It can matter though, is all. I've never argued that Grace was some awesome character, and agree that her inner character is neglected, but she's still and fun and interesting one. Even if she is "symbolic". I merely argue that a character can be more than the sum of her parts through interpretation. Even if it is essentially a weak form of "fanfiction". It's interesting to see how she goes about things, and her impact on others. Even if they might be considered superficial. Maybe so, though they work very well with her. Particularly with Sheryl. Of course villains can be deeper. I love a good sympathetic villain. Though there's nothing wrong with a symbolic one provided they maintain the level of a viable threat, as most villains serve as a tool to develop and try the heroes. Maleficent in Sleeping Beauty was a powerful villain, and all we know of her is that she gets very bitter at being "not wanted". Frontier isn't the type of show that needs a visible, strong villain. It's the conflict that they create that's been important. The threat that matters. Having two people pulling the strings of an entire colony is a pretty good one. I find where it's going with this just as interesting, particularly now that Ranka, Ozma and crew have stopped being bystanders in the overall conspiracy. Which is why I've said that the story does compliment the characters well, and vice versa. But the show is still very story driven. Not like that's a bad thing. In fact, many other characters are starting to take part in the direction the main plot is going. It's like the Space War One. A inner plot (triangle) amidst an outer plot (Zentadi). The outer started off affecting the inner one, until it went vice versa. We're starting to see some of that here. Oh, Alto's personal development is pretty good. We have an idea of what makes him tick, and can understand the motive of his actions. The only problem is that it's hard to see his relationship with either girl in a romantic light, as they've never really explored it, hence when you have a scene like the one between him and Sheryl, it doesn't feel like the climax it was meant to be/could have been. It can be taken in so many ways. It's very clear that a breakthrough has been made, and his feelings are strong, but I think even he doesn't know entirely what they are, and it affects the feel. His confusion embodies my own, so the character is easy to relate to. It's obvious that there's still more to come. It's always difficult when the guy is the wishy-washy one in the triangle. It's there, but it could be better. Though it still works in a way. Like you said, it defines him more than he defines it. It's a lot of take with little give, at least on the romance area. He feels more like a protector or concerned friend, which works well as the rest of his relationship with them is pretty solid. Seeing how this is one where most people admit to liking Grace for her boob fondling, it's interesting that you take issue with one that doesn't. Best wrap this up. I think I said everything, though probably not.

I can crop the Youtuve audio if no one minds the quality. Apologies for my distracted nature at coming back to this thread.

Hardly. I'll take the Albion over that lousy thing any day. This was in response to a LJ post, but I'm too tired to write afresh. I have to admit, this is the first time I can definitively say that this week's Macross Frontier was better than Geass. Usually they're par or Geass wins (usually because it's actually MF 22 to CG 47). But hey, they practically fixed Sheryl for me and had a cool Harlock moment. That, and this episode was rather off. It's like they're scrambling to fit everything in. It's a shame given the awesomeness of S1's final episodes. The last two in particular were masterfully plotted. It's definitely a lot to wrap one's mind around, and I one of the few that really liked 21! R2 is still a good show, like i said, even Frontier has it's quirks (like the so-so triangle). maybe it is better taken with a grain of salt, but a little exposition on the viewer's part goes a long way.

I always thought that Megumi's unseasoned voice fit the song rather well. It has it's beauty, but in a rough but genuine way.
-
Maaya's version would be nice, though Megumi's still has great merit, so I wouldn't call either superior. To each their own though.

Good to know. I'd really love to have that one piece they play in scenes like the Quarter being hijacked. I don't remember that version being on the first OST (correct me if I'm wrong). It's be nice if they released some episode versions of the songs as well. Like the Ranka/Sheryl duets.
