    If you use a dremel make sure you have variable speed controls and set it to the lowest setting. Melting the plastic does suck.

    I would recommend something simple as well. The Hasegawa VF1 kits can be difficult. Pickup some plane models, any plane models, and practice on those. You can pick up some cheap ones at Walmart or Hobby Lobby.

    I do understand what Slamdunk is saying, but that is the price of having the popluar vote choose what they think is the best. This is also the best way to do an online modeling contest.

    I personally like the 1/72 Variables. My first Macross/Robotech kit I built was a Revel 1/72 Variable. Here is a pic of it next to a Yamato 1/60.

    I've seen people use copper wire and styrene rods to make articulated fingers. I've been thinking about trying that on my Hasegawa battroid kit.
